Need a new jacket... thanks for making my choice easy :)
Hi!
After lurking for quite some time here, I decided to join up and this is my first post.
Well, first of all: Hi everybody!
I have finally made up my mind to order a Wested TOD in authentic brown (after my trusty Avirex got lifted), and this forum has really helped me a lot. So, thanks everybody!
My choices are pretty much standard according to what has been posted here before (in fact, I feel a bit guilty treading this path again).
Well, I thought of a goat TOD, with 2 gussets, x-box stitching, zipper extended as far down as possible, cotton-body/satin-arms, brass d-rings. Well, I think that's pretty much it.
Is there anything else I should think of, to get a strudy adventure jacket?
Cheers to all of you!

I have pondered over getting a TOD Wested, but most likely will not. I already own two Westeds, one pre-mod one post-mod, and two Expeditions. What I am thinking of getting next year, maybe, is a LC Wested, as I think it is the best jacket they make. I have not been too happy with the scalloping on my two Wested Raiders jackets, and from what I have seen the pockets on the LC Wested are the best scalloped. I would like to see a TOD jacket the proper tiny tiny pockets that it had, that would be nice, that's the reason I don't want a TOD, no one makes the pockets small enough for my liking.

Welcome to COW MLM. Your specs sound pretty close to my Wested raiders. You will love the goat. It is an excellent choice of leather for a real tough jacket. The only advice I can give is to take accurate measurements, talk to Peter over the phone, and take up a new hobby to take your mind off o the wait for the Wested! I'm looking forward to the pics once your jacket arrives.

Thanks for the warm welcome! Sure feels good being here
And thanks for the advice... all I need now is to complete my ongoing quest for a tailor to have my measurements taken!
The one thing I have noticed is that this is a highly dangerous hobby. I have not even started yet, and I am already looking up Fedora's Adventurebilt site... the itch is really bad

Well, my friend, a little powder or ointment should help that itching. Welcome aboard, MLM, and enjoy the stay and the hobby!MoreLikeMarcus wrote:The one thing I have noticed is that this is a highly dangerous hobby. Germany can be really frustrating...
After having had some very bad service experiences here in good old Germany( nobody wanted to take my measurements ), I decided to fly over to London and pay Wested a visit on January 6th.
While there, do you think there is anything else to go see that is especially Indy oriented?
Cheers

No doubt about it...the British Museum...the Egypt collection is unbelievable...and looking at T-H-E Rosetta Stone...!!!!???? Remarkable.
("Yes...Indy, these are nice pieces.")
Also, don't miss this one: The Imperial War Museum. Just OUTSTANDING! (Or in the current parlance of the US Army...Hooah!) Where else could you eyeball the US-made Grant tank that "Monty" rode into battle at El Alamein?

Yupp, the Egypt collection is VERY nice (studied egyptology for a bit, to balance the less exciting computer sciences major ).
I just fear, that there is too little time to go to the British Museum - plus I did get lost in there two years ago - and on the way back to Victoria Station, because I decided to walk instead of taking the underground.
Maybe I should get Marcus' suit, instead of a TOD leather jacket
Depending on how long it will take me to get from Stansted to Swanley and enjoy the Wested hospitality, the Imperial War Museum sounds nice! Thanks for the hint!
If time should turn out to be insufficient, I'll just check out the Trocadero Center (I wish they still had that Aliens ride there )
Cheers
