Make sure to take a picture of you getting the bullwhip from David. And then have him sign it. It hangs proudly in my office.
BTW, congrats!

p.s. Tell David, Hi! from me.

You won't be disappointed. I purchased an 8 footer about 2 months ago and am really impressed with it. I assume you are going for the natural tan color. If so don't be alarmed when first seeing the color. At first it seems almost too light and flesh colored, but with use it will darken up quite nicely! Enjoy your trip!

Nice picture Sergei. Makes me wish I could have made my purchase in person. Alas, Washington is about 2100 miles too far. Maybe someday......

I knew everyone would be psyched! Thanks so much for your replies guys. I will take pictures and post accordingly.
I'm pretty skilled with a 10 footer, so I'm going to get either a 10 or 12 #455 or #456 natural color of course.
I am SO excited. Thanks for tip Sergei. I will absolutely have him sign it and snap a photo with him. I called ahead. Mr. Morgan will be there on Saturday.
As those whips are pretty pricey and I do plan to use it, where on the whip should I have him sign it? Or is there a tag or something?

Yes, the photo. I snapped the photo and then had it printed. I later mailed the photo for his signature.

Chris is one of the nicest people you'll ever meet. If you get a chance to see his flick, get it done.
Chris, good to see you around. How are your other projects coming along?

Ahhhh, yes Sergei. That certainly makes much more sense. ;-) Wouldn't want black marker all over a $600 whip, right?
Thanks so much for your very
kind words Fisk, I really appreciate!
Yes indeed, two late-night screenings in Seattle at The Northwest Film Forum this weekend - December 10th & 11th. The details and links are posted both at The Indy Experience. The Raider.net and the NW Film Forum.

I was up there June of 2003 and got to buy my whip from him in person. It was a real treat seeing him crack/test it RIGHT IN THE SHOP! That was awesome! Congrats and you should shoot a note to The Edge as well, as he's not too far from Mr. Morgan's shop...

Chris,
I'm in Seattle and I'm planning on being there at least one of the two nights. I read about your film not to long ago and had been hoping to see it. Now to see it and meet you, that will be awesome. If you're up for meeting another gear head, I'd like to come out to Morgan's with you. I've never been there and would give me a really good excuse to go.

And any of you guys who get to the showing, make sure you introduce yourselves to Chris.
When I met Eric Zala at the Boston showing, he seemed pretty psyched about meeting the real fans.
I'm sure Chris is the same way... (you are, aren't you?

)
GO SEE THIS MOVIE!

Well, I was planning on going both nights, but I wasn't fast enough to buy a ticket for Friday night. The show is sold out. I did manage to get a ticket for Saturday. Edge and anyone else, I'd like to meet up with other fans prior to the show. Name the time, name the place.

I had an absolute blast Saturday night having had the opportunity to see
ROTLA - The Adaptation. It was a fantastic experience that I will not soon forget. I felt giddy the whole movie like I was seeing
Raiders for the first time. Mr. Strompolos' Q&A after the movie and speaking with him afterwards was a real treat in and of itself.
I'd like to thank Floatinjoe for his great company and conversation. It was a pleasure meeting you. And a
big thank you to Mr. Strompolos for being so gracious and for making such an awesome contribution to the Indy fan community.

The showing last night was absolutely amazing, and before the show, The Edge and I got together to talk shop. This was the first time I had the opportunity to meet someone from COW. As we chatted, the topic of course turned to whips. I never put two and two together to realize that he was the maker of the "pocket bullwhips" I read about from time to time. Of course there was one stowed away in his MKVII. He pulled it out and the craftsmanship was impressive. He explained the structure of the whip to me and now I have a better understanding of it. What a nice little item, it has now been added to my "toys to be purchased list".
Then we headed back up to the theater to see the show. After reading about the project, I had no idea what to expect, but I know it wasn't what I saw. The film blew away any expections I had. The amount of time and effort that these guys put into the film is readily noticable when you see the detail that was put into it.
After the show, my comment to Chris was "I haven't enjoyed watching Raiders that much in a long time." That about pegs it for me. It was pure enjoyment from start to finish.
The Edge and I got to hang around a bit after most everyone left and there was a treat to be had for the folks hosting the movie at the theater. Chris had purchased his new 12ft David Morgan that day. They all knew it and in fact, he showed the audience it during his Q&A. (Edge, if anyone was giddy last night, I think it must have been Chris when he was talking about his new whip.) Well, they asked him to crack it and he rolled it out. The space was a little to cramped for the crack he was looking to do, so he offered it up to The Edge to break her in. A couple of quick cracks and the theater staff was in awe.
We finished the night off with a quick photo of the three of us and then parted ways. Edge, it was great meeting someone in the area that has the same interests as myself. I don't know which will be first, an order for a DM or an order for a pocket bull, but I'll be sure to let you know either way. Chris, I fully envy what you did as a kid and wish that I had had the courage and perseverance to do something like that. Thank you for sharing it with us.
Mike
So awesome to meet you guys in Seattle! Thanks so much!

Hi there The_Edge, Mike (flotinjoe), Molorom (Adam)!!
All of your kind words and awesome photos are SO appreciated. Thank-you so very much for attending and for really enjoying our homage to Raiders. I was thrilled to see the sold out crowds, the lines out the door and the utmost appreciation and joy everyone showed and felt. Giddy indeed! I love love my new DM 12 footer. I took it out to Griffith Park and shook off the rust for about two hours and wore myself out. It's been years, but I haven't lost my touch!

) SNAP! (photos posted soon)
Seattle was incredible and meeting all the fans and folks from COW is what its about for me - cause you guys share the love for Raiders and Indiana Jones as passionately as we do. Thanks again. We are getting our 2005 screening schedule organized and I'll keep you guys informed and post it on TIE and The Raider.net
Happy Holidays everyone and a successful joyful New Year to all at COW!
Hope to meet COW folks soon!
All the best,
Chris Strompolos / Raiders Adaptation

Chris,
I second the question as to if there will be any Canadian dates for the film in the future?

Nothing has yet been announced for a Canadian screening, but it's looking positive in '05. I'll let you guys know for sure.
Yep! I bought the 12 footer. Not as unruly as I thought it would be. I learned on a very heavy, crudely braided 10 footer and used that for all of the many years I was shooting Raiders and even up until recent. The 12 footer was equivalent to having driven a volvo or a pinto (my old whip) and then slipping into a brand new Lambourgini (the DM whip)!
The DM Whip is sleek, tightly braided and has a great weight to it. I was practicing splitting leaves in Griffith Park. My arm is SO sore. But yeah, the 12 footer sits proudly on my display shelf. I love it.
Pretty #### expensive though. But...an investment indeed!
