Women who wear Alden 405's

No this is not an advertisement for a racy calendar! I was just escorting my 13 year old daughter and her (female) friend on an excursion to purchase boots. My daughter had her mind set on a pair of "fashionable" Timberland boots. Her friend looked at my Aldens and said, I would wear those boots, they look pretty cool! After telling her the price of the 405's her face dropped (she found something else later). However, the experience got me thinking (yes I know, a new thing for me!). Looking down at my Aldens which I now wear almost constantly, I thought that they would indeed look really cool (in the appropriate size of course) on girls and women. So I was just wondering how many COW members of the "female persuasion" wear Aldens? And, if the do wear them do they wear them only in their Indy guise or all the time? Just curious!

I imagine those who can appreciate the investment, do.
Here's hoping this thread doesn't turn into another women-are-seemingly-an-alien-species thread where COW members gush and ogle over the fact that someone with breasts can also wear a fedora/Wested/MKVII... I mean, who would have thought it?!?
Is it
really that odd for women to wear what are, essentially, hats, leather jackets and manpurses?

I have a pair I mainly wear with Indygear, although occasionally I wear them with my regular clothes. I don't wear them too consistently as I feel they are a bit more on the masculine side. (I admit I feel a bit self conscious at times, not all the time though, wearing them with non-Indy clothing because they are so bulky.) Indiana Ken will attest to me being quite worried that they would be too manly looking on my feet...I have large feet anyway as a girl and I was afraid these would lengthen them even more. However, when Fritz made me a deal I couldn't pass up on a pair of 1980s stock he had, then I immediately let him take my credit card number.

Hey, Holly, I have "stuff" from the 80s... Ummm... you can leave me with your credit card number, too! (Just kidding!
)
It's really an interesting question. I've seen plenty of women who wear big, clunky boots, but they're not always the "Indy" type. Though if they were readily available in black, I suppose the goths, the punks, the posers, and the like would be all over them... well, if they had more buckles, I guess...
I can understand that they might look a bit akward on many women since we often think of more streamlined styles on feminine feet, but I would think that they'd look fine with the proper attire, be it Indy or not.

Um....I wasn't really going for the "isn't it wierd that women wear Indy-Gear" angle. As a matter of fact, I hadn't even thought of that! I have always thought that clunky-ish boots look cool. My daughter's first five or so pairs of shoes (we replaced the original pair 5 times as her foot grew) were ankle-high Doc Martens. I just thought that Aldens probably look as cool on women as they do on men. I was simply expressing my opinion that 405's are a pretty laid-back style for both men and women, and was wondering if the women here on COW felt the same way.
Holly- My daughter's feet are now a size 10! She loves to wear boots and thinks it's really "cool" when her teachers wear that kind of stuff too! She dresses in a sort-of Avril Lavigne casual kind of way. I'd think that 405' with a pair of jeans and a T-shirt would look cool on anybody!

wow, and I'm sure her feet will grow some more. I wear an 11(8.5-9 in Aldens), so I can relate. I'll bet some Aldens would look cool with her Avril Lavigne style.

Holly,
I remember the day very well, the day we made our trip to Fritz's place. I remember how concerned you were about buying them, you were quit worried they too manish on you. You kept asking Ken and I if you should get them and if they looked to manly on you, we of course said no no no, and it's true they look good on ya. I was quit tempted to buy another pair myself if you remember, I was so close, lol. It hurst now with Fritz gone, I should have got fitted by him and got another pair.

Yes, I remember that day in Fritz's shop well. I'm glad you guys talked me into the shoes by saying they looked okay. Otherwise I would have probably left the shop without a pair. It's too bad what happened to Fritz.
