Here's Hemingways Adventurebilt hat......

I can't do this on every hat of course, due to the time,(picture taking) but here is one of 5 hats I am shipping out today. Now, the Cairo hat's distinctive looks comes from wear and tear, and that I cannot duplicate, but this will be a good start in achieving the overall look. WOWWWW!

If mine looks like that I'll be extremely happy. Is that the same one that you have on in the sleeping pic?

That 3/4 shot nails a shape at the top of the camel hump I've been trying to replicate forever. There's just never enough height on my hats to get the amount of material to bulge like that without tapering the side.

Outstanding and I really can't wait.

That's the best "Jones Style" blocked fedora I've seen in a LONG time. Last time I saw one that good was the deluxe Steve sent me last year.

That hat looks excellent. The problem is that they all do. How can a hatter truly say "this hat is the finest that I ever made" if they all look as good as the next.

Your hats are a work of art. Now, let's see how well they can take a beating

By the way folks, Rick is the official Indy fedora field tester. He has one in hand, or on head, and is reputed to have taken it skeet shooting. It was the target. Seriouly, Rick is building a reputation on the field tests. I sent him one before I started making the ones for you guys. Of course, he has only had it for a few days. I sent it untreated, so the water repellant factor will not be there, just raw pure beaver felt. Rick has an uncanny abiltiy to bring out the best, and worst in a hat. He will post the results at a later date on his website. I don't have the link handy, but you can read his other field tests, and evaluations there. He is not the type of guy who puts the hat on, and then goes to town shopping and reports on how it held up. I trust his evaluations. regards, Fedora

Actually, if you all heard a thump it was my jaw hitting the floor when I saw this hat! Awesome, just awesome. I can hardly contain my excitement! :D
I almost fell over just reading the title of the post. "Here's Hemingways..."
Wait a minute, that's me!
Thank you so much Fedora. I can't wait to park it on my head. :D

Not only is the block great/awesome/spectacular, but finally .... oh finally .... there is a felt color that looks Raiders accurate!!!!! Yee-Haw!!!

Hemingway, that'll put the Fed to shame (and I like the Feds, no, not FBI Feds)!

Rick is the official Indy fedora field tester.
Did I mention, that I'm Rick's unofficial stunt double

Kudos to you Steve! I can honestly say that this is the most screen accurate replica I've seen to date. The color of both felt and ribbon are perfect. Ribbon width: perfect. Crease and overall shape: perfect!

You know what a nitpicky fella I am and this one makes me drool!

Hats off,

Marc

You know, I was originally thinking that on my trip to Cancun this winter I'd take my Akubra in case something happened to the hat, but now I might just have to take my AdventureBilt anyway when it comes! It'll get a good "sweat test" from me, that's for sure!

Thanks guys! My site is up, and a big thanks to Namebrand(designer), Skipbeau,(logistics and host), and Gulice who could not finish the site, but gave it mucho effort. I never ever thought I would actually be selling hats online, when I started learning about reblocks and hattmaking. What makes it so great, is that it is one of my hobbies. I enjoy making these hats. It don't get any better than that. Now, time to work on some hats for the rest of the day. regards, Fedora [/url]

I agree! Very nicely done!

I'm looking forward to contributing a glowing testimonial to the site. ;)

BTW, Mr. Fedora - today is payday, so I'll Paypal you the balance of what I owe you, good sir. Then I'll buy go my family Xmas presents at the dollar store. :) (so very kidding!)

VERY nice, Fedora! One comment, though... on the front page in the first paragraph, you say:

"I have replicated that old hat block, and with it create one of the most accurate Indy style fedoras available to the discerning hat wearer and Indy fan."

It should read ..."and with it created one of the most..."

Nitpicky, I know, but I want your site to be as perfect as possible! Also, when it really gets up and running, it'd be great to have a picture gallery and a page of quotes from satisfied customers.

Also... I did a google for "adventureBilt hats" and didn't come up with anything. I'd look into what it takes to have your site key worded so anyone looking into hats comes across your site.

For instance folks could type in any of the following words and your site could be listed:

fedora, adventure, vintage hats, Indiana Hat, old hats, handmade hats...etc.

No. it's worded properly. He's making more than one.

Then perhaps it could read "...and with it I create one of the most...." It just reads a bit akward to me otherwise. Sorry, I work with a copywriter and we're alway going over how things should read!

Hmm, well that could go either way...given that he has not stopped making hats and didn't only make one hat with the block I would lean toward saying "and with it create one of the most..."

Of course I am happy to make the edit should Fed want it. ;)

By the way, the testimonials with a picture isn't a bad idea. I think that would be a good addition to the site in the future. :)

Yeah, it really could. It does work grammatically, but I ended up rereading it the first time because it struck me funny! ( Ba Dump! Chhh!) It was just a first impression... Yeah... looking again, I think it's right the way it is... sorry. And I'm glad you like the picture/testimonial idea. I think it could help folks want to buy more of his hats in the future!

First of all, that's one great looking fedora, Fedora. You can put me down for one anytime you can, and I could understand if it takes awhile. For what it's worth, shouldn't whenever be wherever in the last sentence of your site's script? Congrats are in order.

While we're being picky and proofing:

"...a real adventurers fedora that is also refined enough to wear with a suit." Should be "adventurer's fedora."

Well, all I can say is I must be getting really old...or am just plain tired. I opened the link to view the hat and the first thought I had was 'Streets of Cairo' and not just - 'Raiders' sceaming at me...then I looked at your caption---duh, what can I say! Sooooo the really positive side to this first viewing of this hat is -- it Speaks For Itself! It is indeed a Cairo Indy! So, I am not either that old, or that tired -- then again. Anyway -- pretty cool looking topper there! I am certain it's recepient will be most pleased! Superb work Fedora! W>

ps: Was glad to see that you do get some rest from time to time  ! W>

Steve,
Did you say the hats for us would be 125$??(80/20 Rabbit/nutria blend)
or am i incorrect? am i on the list by the way? And if so how far down?
Im hoping to have my hat in time for it to be legible for a x-mas gift  .
You are doing a great job i must say though. If i were you i dont think i
would be able to put up with all these coffee addicted gearheads  . Hat making is a very hard craft, much harder that i had thought in the starting. Cant wait for my Akubra to arrive tomorrow,
Im sure ill love it.
