Yesterday, thanks to my dad, the dog got out. We had to go in the car after him. I grabbed my new Wested goat and my PB custom and ran out to the car. Seeing as the other seats were occupied by a bag of grain and a couple of neighborhood kids who like to help out, I decided to sit on the trunk, (definitely one of the stupidest things I've done in my life ) I had thought that the car was only going to be going about 10 mph.

Instead, my dad (who was driving) ended up going something like 20 mph on hard pavement, and unfortunately I slipped off (yes, it REALLY hurt). A couple seconds later, I found myself lying on the pavement with a bad cut near my eyebrow, some scrapes on my face, and my PB (which was fine) was 3-4 feet away.

When I caught up with my Dad's car, which by now had stopped, I examined my Wested and found that their were scuff marks all down the front left side, and on the shoulder the jacket was slightly torn. I also found that my eyebrow was bleeding badly. It was only later that I realized the signifigance of this: I fell off a moving vehicle while wearing my Wested, and not only were the parts of my body it was covering completely unharmed, but the jacket itself was only a bit scraped up! THIS IS ONE H*** OF A JACKET! After experiencing this, I'm able to believe that Indy REALLY COULD go under a truck with a Wested if it was made of goat!

Anyhow, seeing as it's almost brand new, I'm probably going to send it back to Peter and pay him to fix it up. I just thought I'd share my experience with you guys, and I hope you don't think I'm a really stupid person, because I don't normally do this type of thing. :junior: -IJ

Hey thats REAL natural distressing - that jacket has a genuine story to tell. You've had your own version of the truck chase and survived (thankfully!). I dont know there is a lot Peter can do to fix scuff marks - if you dont want it distressed I think Pecards or the like is your only answer.

Where is it torn? You might be able to get it repaired locally.

It's torn up on the shoulder, thankfully the tear is only one the panel that covers the shoulder blades.

One of the crazy things I think is great about this hobby is when we somehow damage the expensive clothes we have bought we tend to get excited about it... Anyone else would be really upset...

I remember when SJ scratched his Wested on a stone wall and noticed nice grazing, so rubbed it up and down again... ker-azy...

Not that I'm trying to one-up you or anything, but if you think you're stupid, you should see some of the @#$% I've done, as Shane can attest . Go look at that, and then you'll know silly!

Seriously though, glad you're alright. I fell out of a car once, and the car was only going a couple of miles an hour, and it hurt. So if you were going close to 20 mph... wow. Your experience sure does make an awesome testament to how great wested's jackets are, though.

It's funny since I watched Raiders again last night. I'm glad you're alright, though natural distressing is the way to go. And how crazy indeed that we pay lots of money for our gear only to come to love each scrape and scratch it gets along the way. I remember the first bit of distressing my Wested got due to a cat's claw. (To be fair, the cat was at the vet and needed to get his shots. I wouldn't have been happy, either.) There's just a small spot in the leather, but it's there nonetheless. I was bummed out then, but now each bit of natural distressing makes me look forward to seeing this jacket 20-30 years from now.

yep, except less damage to the elbow, more damage to the face. Or at least I did, it's pretty much healed now, thanks to lots and lots of ice. :junior: -IJ
