Anybody have a good alternative for the Alden Boot? I am having a tough time finding anything even close!

hmm, sometime a while back somebody composed a chart of all the lookalikes...can't think of what search string to use...hopefully someone can chime in with the info..

High Regards, Daryl.

This is an oft discussed topic. (Oh Hi by the way...to all who noticed I got real quiet) My suggestion is to use the search function located at the top of the page... or I believe I found something suitable in a past post

I suggest using the search function with the words; boot alternative, search for all. You will find info about some good alternatives that show up. The best ones so far, in my opinion, are the J Crew Decker boots, but I'm not sure they are made any longer. (Do a post in classifieds later on maybe?)
Also, I think there might be a project going on with somone looking into making very close looking "almost" replicas.
If not, the Alden's are definitely worth saving up for I think. Trust me. ;)

Good luck!

EDIT: Looks like someone beat me to it during my typing. ;)

Swindiana

Wouldn't a listing of these alternatives be a good thing to put on the Main page?

Try this thread I posted some time ago. They're good boots, if not especially screen-accurate. But they DO give good traction! (Not to mention more affordable!) :)

Take a look at the JCrew rugged boot - a little pricey, but about as close as I've seen.

Carolina used to make a boot called the "Husker" that was also close - I own a steel toe pair that I wear every day to work - but it appears that they've discontinued it. I'm still on the hunt myself for an Alden look alike I can wear casually - my steel toe Carolina's are a bit too distressed for daily casual wear...
