Does anyone know if there's an inexpensive, empahasis on inexpensive, Raiders-style nonfiring revolver replica out there?

I've posted a few pics of 'Dollar Store Revolvers'. Do a search, and check it out.

A few people have used 'dollar store' S&W type plastic guns.

If you mean a genuine HE2 replica, I've seen resin versions on eBay from time to time and I understand COW's Lee Keppler produces a similar rubber gun.

I was afraid of this. Those aren't exactly cheap, even if they do look good.

I was considering cutting down the barrel on one of those .44 Magnum toy guns, but still...

That .44 comes in TWO different barrel lengths. You don't need to cut one down. Check REALISTICTOYGUNS.COM It's a division of Kapowwe, I think.

Ooooh now, a watergun...that's right up my alley. I'm seriously considering ordering one and paint the tip black. The burning question for me is:
Would the barrel have to be cut down?

If I end up getting it then I'll for sure have to get a Raiders holster.

I'm considering the 2-piece 44. Magnum set. That way, I could cut the barrel down on one for that Raiders look and leave the other for the Last Crusade look.

I think someone who has great crafting skills should get the 14'' Mag. and make an Indy Holster! Imagine indy running around with a 14'' gun in his hands ! You'd definatley would see the Ciaro swordsman run the other way.

I had posted this before. Here is my version.



The gun is a $2 sqrirt gun, repainted and filled with window caulk (for weight) The holster was a $1 thrift store naugahyde handbag. Does the trick.

It's the same gun as everyone else uses,with grips from an .88 cap gun from Wal-mart.

That's a hellagood idea. I wonder if sand would work as well. The cutting and sewing of a purse is a great idea too - anyone have a pattern for that holster?

I believe it was Marc that had a pattern of the "Raiders" Holster on his site.

I was considering sand as well. But I didn't have any around (that the cats hadn't already claimed).

I believe I got the holster pattern from here somewhere. Most of it was custom, as the gun was different. Trial and error.

Could someone provide the measurements (in inches or centimetres) of the indicated red lines in the picture here?

If we get a scale with some measurements it'd be a lot more useful and people could print out a more complete pattern to actual size for cutting leather or naugahyde or whatever.

My only question now is... how freakin' big is a Euro?!

Yup. That's the template I used, with some modifications.

2.3 cm. Or just under an inch for you imperial systemites.
I measured a German euro to make sure I used the same size euro as Marc did, there is a 0,04% margin of error in the size of euros as countries vary .

I refined Marc's separate JPGs and using the measurment of the Euro above, made a vectorized pattern with a Metric and Imperial scale to the side. I did get lazy, though, and only put the key measurements in Imperial. I'm of the Canadian generation that was taught both systems and and therefore proficient in neither.

Anyway, here's what I came up with:

the pattern I use, based on a webley, then cut down, with some input from Marcs, is more like 9" long.
have yet to find the right length gun to fit it round, but the same pattern fitted snugly round the top of a Colt 38.

the printout of Marcs I have measures 7.5 long, and the plug is 1.5 x 1.75. all in inches.
the belt loop is 3" long, and a bit more on the slanting side.

the strap length I got wrong anyway.

would be interested to hear any advance on these measurements, especially as they relate to the gun its designed to fit.

While COW was gone, I used that pattern (mentioned above) and basically eyeballed it and transferred it freehand to a newspaper. Then I cut the newspaper along the lines and test fitted my dollar store cap pistol to make sure it was sized and shaped right. I pinned the paper pattern to a big piece of mock leather that I harvested from some thrift store luggage.

It turned out pretty well. I'll try to post pix soon.

I just found a source for the "dollar store" gun here in Sweden, except it is more around $2 here. It comes with a cowboy picture cardboard (?) and a sheriff star. I'll post a pic later so that you'll know what to look for. And I might be able to pick some up in case you can't find it elsewhere.
