Pecard's jell and lint

I applied a first coating of Pecard's jell to my new goatskin Expo about two weeks ago. Since then, I have noticed that the jacket has become a real lint magnet. I didn't see this before the Pecard's so it appears that the tackiness from the jell has caused this. Will this effect lessen over time or is this a by-product of the treatment?

On a positive note the jell has done a nice job of softening the leather and has reduced the "squeakiness" of the jacket.

Sounds like you put on more than the jacket would absorb. If this is a problem, take a hand held hairdryer, set on low heat, then section by section, hold on the jacket until the excess Pecards liquifies. Wipe off the excess (which will also remove the lint) with a clean soft cotton cloth (old tee shirt is best), and you'll be good to go. Regards. Michaelson

Michaelson,

Thanks for the tip. I have heard this technique suggested for the leather dressing, but not the jell. If the problem still persists, I will give it a try. The lint particles are very small and can only be seen by close observation.

Yep, it works with the jell too. Regards. Michaelson

Spit and polish.

Ok, maybe not the 'spit' part...

With the standard Pecards, a good going over with a lint-free cloth (or an old cotton T-shirt) usually does the trick for me. I use Michaelson's hair dryer trick when I pecard my aldens and it works a treat.

Wouldn't that more accurately be 'goo to go'?

I was thinking that an FAQ on applying Pecard's would be a nice feature, but then we would miss out on all this wonderful humor :D .

Anyhow, the jacket does seem less tacky then when I first applied the jell. I just removed a particularly stubborn piece of lint with some Scotch tape. However, most of the other lint particles brushed off. I'll give the jacket another good rubdown with an old t-shirt and see if that fixes it. If not, then it will be hairdryer time.

There is a fairly dated FAQ in the main section that still covers the basics on product application. It's all being updated as we 'speak'.

Humor? :-k Not sure I'm understanding that comment either.

Why, THANKS, Al! Nice to know I'm still not as tacky as Axel's jacket. Oh, sorry, that was naughty...I'll go punish myself, shall I? ](*,) :ducttape: :-#
