That jacket is too shiny and striated for my taste, if Todd has "less-ones" I´m game but that...
"Whoa Nelly!!!"

I know there's plenty of shots already here, but I'll still (RE)post these shots of MY latest from Todd's
(I had originally posted them back in late FEB / early MARCH, but the site seemed to crash a few days later and it was lost along with a lot of other stuff)
...Anyway, I'm putting these back now:
My
2013 Todd’s “COYLE’S” Raiders Jacket
A Jacket I’m very happy to add to my collection and VERY happy to wear!
I was also pleased to get a Jacket that looked a lot like the one used in the photos on the website (and HERE in this Thread)… mainly because this
IS the same Jacket that they used for those photos!
Here's a few photos (and
Links to photos)
Light's catching a few of the striations of the leather in this one
http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e38/M ... 7105d6.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I guess I was trying for a sort of "(Atlantic) Ocean's Eleven" look in this one
More striations
http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e38/M ... 3a6874.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I'd like to point out that what looks like a fold/hard crease along the back of my right shoulder was just a long wrinkle the resulted from how the jacket was hanging for a few hours before I slapped it on... About 20 minutes after these were taken, it had smoothed itself out and was hanging nice & flat...
Lastly, a couple of Links to some photos showing a few thrown punches for those of you who like to make sure a jacket has a bit of "SWING" to it!

THANKS for noticing, Michael... And yeah, I'm busted, I guess:
I've been letting it grow since just before Christmas last year. I'm thinking of doing a Han Solo look for around Hallowe'en this Fall so I'm experimenting with how quickly I can grow it out to "HAN SOLO Length" in one dash
(not sure, but I think this might be known as "Making the 'Tressle Run' in less than 12 months")
(*groan* s o r r y)
And glad you like the photos!
Todd certainly does manage to get some nice jackets made,
that's for sure!

Hi all,
Got my Todd's Jacket in the mail today.
Here are my thoughts:
1. The leather is absolutely beautiful. I know that some of the pictures above exaggerate, somewhat, the grain and striations on these. However, in real life I think the Mitch LaRue photos best illustrate the appearance of the leather. In hand, these jackets are supple, soft, and rich in texture and color.
2. The workmanship is impressive. The stitching appears to be strong and straight.
3. Mr. Coyles customer service is excellent. I requested a jacket with striations on the upper chest panel like the film jacket - and got EXACTLY that. Sean was great to deal with. Fast shipping to boot.
4. My only problem was the fit. I wear a true 44L in everything. I spoke with Sean before I ordered and he suggested an XL. Unfortunately, I was swimming in the XL. Plus, the sleeves were barely long enough. Even when I cinched the straps up, the body of the jacket was ill fitting and the side panels bunched unpleasantly when the straps were cinched.
5. Given the size issues, I've returned the jacket and am contemplating a size Large, but I am very concerned about the sleeve length. Does anyone know how much can be "let out" from the size Large sleeves?
Regards,
Sean

Yes Yes Yes... I get intoxicated by the look and the value, and have ordered only to find, no, the sleeves still aren't any longer...
Someday maybe a 44L, or at least longer sleeves would be a stupendous option.

Thanks,

That’s a
Size Large straight off the rack with no custom adjustments or anything…
Glad you like it.
It’s a great –and comfortable- jacket (and while it’s got a nice weight to it, it’s still light enough that I think I’ll be able to wear into the Spring as well)
MARQ wrote:Way Cool!! LaRue good lookin´jacket That´s more my alley!
Hey,
MARQ:
Cool, glad you like it. I was hoping that the photo of my jacket would show some of the potential for variety that can come from a run of jackets like this… and sure, some have more pronounced striations and some have less (of course, some of us PREFER “more” or “less”)
…Now, I have
NO idea what Todd might still have available in his selection of jackets, but I guess what I’m saying IS that if someone’s thinking about one of these AND they have a preference just ask him what’s possible.
In my buying experiences with him and his Team, Todd has always been a 100% straight shooter with honest answers.
Cheers!

So after years of wanting my own Todd's Jacket I finally bit the bullet and bought one, and it just came in yesterday. It is a fantastic jacket, and really smells great!
So I took a couple of picture with it on, you guys let me know what you honestly think. You gotta let me know if it looks too big or if is decent looking? I measured things out before buying it, but without actually tying it on it's more of a gamble, so I just went ahead and bought a Large. Although I was kind of thinking I should have bought a Medium, but I was afraid the sleeves would have been too short.
Now I had another question for you all, when I went to zip up the jacket I noticed that there is a little torn spot of down near the bottom corner. I did my best to take a picture of it. Now would that be enough for you guys to return it, or would you just live with it?
Thanks for the help, and I look forward to many adventures with this awesome icon piece of clothing! Thanks Todd for the awesome jacket!!
James

Looks great to me...
It'll get worn in and fit far better too in a year or so, so you'll have an even better jacket then, but there's no problem with the sizing there, I'd say you were spot on..
If you're worried about it, a shower with the jacket on will reduce the size enough to work, but honestly, I'd say let it get rained on naturally and just wear it...Looks fine to me..
Nice choice and thanks for the photos!

The fit looks perfect!!! What you are probably concerned about has to do with the jacket not being worn, time and use will take care of that.
What are the measurements if that is ok?
I would live with it, but if it bothers you just give them a call, they are very nice and I'm sure this can be fixed one way or another.
Congratulations!

Jacket looks good! I see that you have the straps sinched up all the way, but you can pull the straps back through. A Medium might have fit better around the torso, but the difference in the L & M sleeves is 1 1/4 inches, according to the size chart. This one looks like it fits well through the shoulders and sleeves.

I perosnally think it looks alittle to big. One size down would have been a better fit I think

I'd exchange it for a medium and leghten the sleeves. There is about 1 inch of extra leather folded in cuff isn't it?

I suggest you buy a medium and hang on to this one. Then decide which one you like best and send the other back before any alterations, etc. I believe they will work with you so long as the product hasn't been altered or damaged.

Thanks for the comments everyone I do appreciate them. Before I send the jacket back for a medium I figured I'd take a few full costume shots to see what you guys thought. I just have to ask you guys, does the jacket still look really big on me, or should I still go ahead and return it and get the medium?
I've been helping to film a movie in the Salt Lake area for the last 3 weeks, I wore my costume to work one day, which everyone absolutely loved, and there were a few places around the building that were great for photo taking. So here are a few shots that I got.
Thanks!

Personally, I think it looks good on you!
(See my previous suggestion, please.) I would guess the size thing people are talking about is the looseness around the middle. The "Raiders" style is she shortest and tightest of the film jackets. The one on you (I think) fits more like a CS. However, the sleeves fit right as it is. I think the shoulders work too. They are supposed to hang off the shoulder a little.
I have showered with mine, crumpled it up and weighted it down, coated it with Picards leather cream...it never shrank or stretched, and barely got any new wrinkles. What I will never do is scratch it up with anything to artificially distress it. Though, I'm not above dragging it through the dirt...maybe later.
Ultimately, James, it's what feels right to you, not what we think. You will never get a consensus from us fanboys, lol Be happy you're not a vender trying to solve the problem. I believe there is not a better jacket for the price...even
not "for the price" for authentic look and cut. The weight and flow of this issue are exceptional. FYI I am 5' 8", 170 lbs and wear a L like it was made for me personally. I even bought a 2nd one that sits unused in my closet.
Oh, yeah...Nice action pics, too!

I think it looks just

I dunno... maybe it's 'cuz it's had a bit of time to "relax" or something, but I think it looks really natural slapped over your back.
Keep THAT one (the Size LARGE) is what I'd say... Seems like a
winner to me!

How tall are you, James? Just curious as to your measurements versus the jacket's measurements. I've seen RayR talk about being 5'8", 170 and wearing a L, yet I'm 5'10", 180 and wear a Medium (I went with the M because my jacket size is usually a 40R). I toyed with trying a large, but my Medium sleeves come down to the first knuckle on my thumb which seems right. The extra 1.25" in the L sleeves seem like they'd just be way too long on me.

That IS interesting. My sleeves come to about the base knuckle of my thumb, and I, too usually get a 40R. I guess you really do have to check your personal measurements. Also, the back length fits great...just past my belt (in jeans). Not too long.
I'd love to see some shots of you in the Med =)

Thank you very much for your comments! Yeah I think I'm going to stick with this size of the jacket because I'm afraid if I go smaller it won't fit as well. I just think it feels really good, and natural when wearing it. Makes me feel like I can beat up any Nazi that comes my way.lol
Believe me I'm extremely happy that it's not my job to satisfy all the Indy fans out there. I probably would have pulled my hair out at this point.

I'm actually 6' 2" and about 140lbs. I measured myself so many times before getting this jacket, thinking the Medium would be too short on me. I was mostly worried about the sleeves, didn't want them to be too short. The Large I've got, there is plenty of room to move around in it and if I raise my arms the sleeves don't go halfway down my arms. lol
Tundrarider wrote:James,
The jacket looks great on you, especially with the full gear. Now here's the rest of my two cents...
Like Ray said, it's matters most what YOU think. Also, it matters what "look" you are going for. If the jacket is mostly for your full gear outfit, then I think the Large is best. Here's why. You look to be of a slender build, like me. If I wear a tighter fitting jacket, it accentuates this thinner look which doesn't translate as well to the Raiders look.
Personally, I think the Temple Jacket, (at least one of them) was the tightest Indy jacket, both in sleeves and torso. If Ford had a slender build as opposed to his medium build, that jacket would have looked way different on him.
I see the Raiders jacket as having some room in the torso, which adds to the drapey effect as it hangs. Right now, your jacket is still new, and it's going to take time for it to soften and loosen up and drape.
You
could go with a Medium and have the sleeves let out, and it would still "fit" but in a different way; less "Raiders-like" in my opinion!
If you decide to keep it, I'd recommend lexol treatments and ball it up in a pillowcase and sleep with it!
Nice pics, BTW!!!
Michael
[/quote]
Thanks for the comments, I think the Large is the better one to stick with, especially when wearing all the gear. I really wanted the tighter "Raiders" look but I'm afraid if I turn in my jacket for a Medium I'm going to wish I would have stuck with a Large.
So what exactly does rolling the jacket up in a pillow case and applying Lexol do?
Thanks again guys, I really appreciate your feedback!!!

I think that explains a lot. At 6'2" I feel pretty confident that a Medium would have been way too short in length and in the sleeves for you. But at only 140lbs, you obviously must have a slender build so anything that fits lengthwise will probably be a bit roomy in the body. I would much rather the latter than the former so I think Large is the way to go for you!

I would guess tracking does stop once it changes hands. My experience is in the other direction. I have ordered many things on eBay from Canada and it took quite a bit longer to get to me in the US than I thought. I even once got something from UK faster than from Canada, both ordered on the same day. At this point, you may have another week, sorry to say. But if it got to Canada by 4/4 it could be any time now. You will have to let us know.

Todd ships very fast (as I'm in the same state, I usually get my stuff next day).
However, once customs gets a hold on a package, they like to take their sweet time.
Have faith! I'm sure your jacket will be received soon! And....You're gonna love it!

I asked about the sizing from Todd and he send me this answer, can somebody here confirm this?
"I measured the XL and the chest measurement from armpit to armpit is 25" exactly, and just for your general knowledge, the XXL is 28" and the L is 22".
Still, the sizing-chart has not been altered on Todd´s site. So, anyways XL would be my choise.

Received my Todd's a few days ago and I was wondering if anyone else's pockets dont line up exactly. One of mine is a 1/4 inch higher than the other. Doesn't really bother me too much as I have been wearing it non stop since I got and just noticed it now so I doubt anyone else would.
Other than that I think it is great

My pockets lined up fine, but one was slightly sewn shut inside. A stitching error. You should probably mention this to Todd. At least he can be on the look out for that defect in the future.

The fit is very good. The Raiders jacket is baggy and not like the street fashions. If you want to shrink it a bit I would recommend soaking it in hot water.

Now that sleeve-cuffs of the Todd´s jacket were covered, I´d like to know the rest of the sleeve..how wide are they from the elbow to the shoulder. Meaning do they "match" the offerings of Peter... From size XL and L...IF YOU PLEASE!?
And whats the neck-dimension,ie collar lenght...

I love my Todd's jacket, but at the same time I have nothing to compare it to, so please excuse my inexperience.
First impressions are that it's as SA as a ROTLA jacket gets. The lambskin looks and drapes like the screen-worn jackets, which at the end of the day, is what I was going for. I think it's a lot of bang for the buck. Only time will tell how durable the jacket is.
As warm as it is where I live, I'll probably get more mileage out of my WPG and Todd's shirts with the 'Cairo Casual' ensemble.
