Thank you. I'm glad you like it and my pic's, I have a blast doing them.
And the fit and feel are very much like a second skin and at the same time loose ya know. My other Wested was tight in the shoulders and the way the Hero is cut, it sits loosely on my shoulders, Love in it, man, lovein it. My feelings though as far as is this th'e jacket, just like the one in Raiders, no. What I've been searching for in a jacket is not the exact jacket, but one that looks like it could have been the next jacket they used for the next scene, ya know what mean. I feel as though this jacket represents that jacket for which I've searching for.
So glad I did this, but hark what do I hear.... rain. think I'll take a walk with my new skin. Can anyone say Katrina hear you come. Baten down the hatches.

Yeah man, that jacket looks very nice on you; fit looks right on. The only thing I don't like about the heroes is that side straps seem too long. Easy fix for any tailor really though.

Your right Michaelson, what was I thinking, must have be the woman I work with Katarini. But yes it's Irene as in good night Irene.
No longer than they are on the US Wings SL. I got used to them.

Oh so Michaelson, how do think I should distress this one ......
Speaking of which, hey Gorak, has yours done any "natural" distressing yet?

I wear mine daily but my wife has been taking it from me alot lately and wearing it.
No more artificial distressing...all natural from here on in with no babying.
I think the side straps are just long enough to thread back thru the bars so that they are facing forward. After I did that, they no longer even exist.
I so would like to try another in a different skin but right now I'm waiting on my Magneto Russian Attack jacket AND I am toying with a Wested in the bizzarre..

Oh man... I just spent several months going through a horrifying ordeal with DHL over a
typo on a Wested invoice. Fear of having that happen again is keeping me from ordering one of these Hero jackets, because I've been wanting a light lambskin jacket since the last one became to big on me, but don't want to pay $500 for one since they're so fragile.

Oh buddy that is horrible. I'm sorry dhl tried to scalp you. That's a little terrifying to hear as I am about to order a hero myself. I've never received a separate bill from dhl but have paid customs charges. I'm sure that that sort of thing doesn't happen to often so i wouldn't worry about it happening again. Don't let it stop you from enjoying a new jacket and tell dhl to take a hike lol.

I'll shoot Gemma an email inquiring if this is just DHL or when I ordered from them I'd thought that'd been added to the shipping.
Not saying I won't pay it if it's legit, but if it just DHL's way of making money, well................

Yeah, I got the DHL bill, too. I never got this when I ordered my first Wested jacket, so I'm a bit curious as to why now. It amounted to about twenty-some-odd dollars. I am curious about answers on the matter.
Oh, and Croft, I love the pics you posted. They are very well done and the jacket looks good on ya, too.

From my experience importing to the UK: A certain number of packages are sampled and duty is charged on the contents. Unfortunately the courier company will also charge for the privilege. So if you are unlucky and your package is picked for the special treatment you get charged the courier's 'brokerage fee' plus the 'duty'.
Twenty something dollars is cheap. I was charged over $100 on a free jacket from the US! (Free/gift has nothing to do with it, they base it on the invoice value or judge it on what they think the market value is).

Hi everyone, sorry if this has been covered as I haven't read the entire thread. Is the inside lining of the Hero suppost to be all cotton including the sleeves. Wested's site simply says 'The lining is cotton silesia .' Or, have some of you received satin in your sleeves? Mine is all cotton.
Just curious.
Cheers

Mines cotton on the body and satin on the sleeves, just the way it came, no request. Strange how there doing it several ways on the linning.

That's funny. I originally received a Hero with satin sleeves and the regular Wested label (not the Leather Consessionairs), so I sent it back. It was my simple understanding that the entire lining was to be cotton so I mentioned that, and that's what I got in my replacement. Was the original not all cotton?

The original was all cotton, but as you know the sleeves grip if you have sweatshirt or the like.
I will put all cotton unless requested otherswise.
In fact I will make it an option.
I am on vacation in Corfu for the next week or so.
Dont expect any replies from me.
Cheers Peter

Thanks for the reply Peter. My intention was to gt a close to the original as possible, and it looks like I achieved that. I prefer satin in the sleeves for my jackets, but for this jacket, cotton is fine as I wanted costume accuracy.
Enjoy your holiday.
Cheers

I didn't specify what I wanted. It just came that way. I won't complain though as I like it this way. It just seems odd that Peter said they will all be made with cotton body and sleeves unless otherwise stated, when mine came with satin sleeves.

I'm ordering my Hero today if I can nail down my measurements, and leather choice. I think I'm leaning towards the goat skin. I like the durability, but is the colour close to what we see on screen? In the pictures I've seen, the goat skin appears more chocolate brown than dark brown. Are there varying colours and thickness of goat skin? Also, will I still be able to get the wrinkling accordion sleeves with the goat?
Regarding the sleeve measurement, my tailor measured my arm from the shoulder seam of a standard jacket and told me I was a 26.5 - but I think with the way the Hero 'falls off the shoulders' the seam is lower, and I'm worried that will make them too long. Gemma responded this morning and asked me to measure from the 'top of my shoulder.' Does that mean from where the shoulder meets the neck? Also, in the jacket that Harrison Ford wore, (the one this jacket is modeled after) were the sleeves the same length as the back?
Could someone take a guess at my sleeve length? My Nowak CS is in the Harrison Ford size. However - on this jacket, I found the arms about 2-3 inches too short. So I figure, if I add 2.5 inches to the TNO CS I'll have the proper length. You dig?
Thanks in advance,
s.

How tall are you, and for someone your height, would you say you have short/normal/long arms?

I stand 6' tall, and would say that my arms are medium long in length.
The Nowak Raiders (Harrison Ford's size), if I'm not mistaken, has 23" sleeves and a 23" back. Harrison Ford's jacket was a 40' and I'm a 42' - so I'm currently guess-timating that 25" arms and back will be about right. No?

HF sleeves were 25"-26" roughly. See this archive post on the TN Raiders #000 jacket.
I ordered my latest TNO Raiders jacket with 26.5" sleeves knowing they would shrink up slightly. Back length on it is 24" and 24" storm flap length on it as well. I am 6 foot, normally wear a 38 or slim 40 jacket.

Thanks for the help TheExit148.
Well, I pulled the trigger. Ended up going with:
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Description: Standard Indy 'Hero' Jacket
Skin Type: Seal Brown Soft Goat 'New'
Size: 42
Sleeve Length: 26.5
Back Length: 24.5
Lining: Coton Silesia Body/ Satin Sleeves (Non Grip)
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here is my logic. Harrison's (Hero) jacket was reportedly a size 40, with 23" in the front and back, and sleeves that were 25.5(ish). Harrison stood roughly 5'10", and I stand at 5'11.5". I added and inch and a half to the back to make up for our height difference. I also got the arms as long as possible, knowing they will rise as the jacket wrinkles up. Regardless, I can always have the sleeves altered if they end up being too long. Fingers crossed I did it right. Are there any other modifications or special requests I should make? Does the goat skin vary in thickness or texture?
In the meantime, have there been any new Hero's delivered lately?

Can't you ask Wested to measure from the centre back to the end of the sleeve? I always think that sleeve length in isolation means nothing. Still, I guess better longer than too short

Agreed. I don't believe he's ever been more than 5'10". It was the late '70's. Cocaine wasn't addictive and Burt Reynolds hair was real.
Maybe those Star Wars boots and all that puffy hair made him 6', because I don't believe his genes did.

Okay, just wanted to get some of your opinions on this. I am about to have my crispe jacket altered by Peter, but I want to know if I should keep it or exchange it for the regular lamb. Before I sent it back, I was so certain that I did not want it, but wanted the regular lamb instead. Now, I am not so sure anymore. I have heard a lot of good things about vegetable tanned leathers and I feel that I just prejudged the jacket without even giving it a chance. After all, it was brand new and was not even proper fitting at that too.
Many of you see this leather as being initially too light in color. But, I am certain that it will darken up substantially, being that it is a vegetable tanned leather. It is all just part of the aging process. As for the over the top grain, I am thinking that it may blend in certain areas as it starts to naturally distress. So I ask all of you to help me make a choice.
Here are a couple of more shots, just before I had sent it back. Please give me your final and most honest opinions on just the jacket itself.
