The other advantage of the wait you endured is you have the corrected collar stand end and side vents.

Actually, hey guys...? If I were to double check the chest size, where on the jacket would I measure it? My Raiders jacket is a 34, and if I measure from the shoulder seam to the shoulder seam it's 17 (so 34). If I measure that distance on my ToD it's a 19 (so a 38?!). :?

Shane,

People usually zip the jacket up and measure pit to pit. In theory a 34 should be half that plus breathing room, ie, 17+X, X can be anywhere between 2" and 4" total depending on which theory you use!

If you measure a normal suit jacket you can come up with 6-8 inches of room depending on the cut.

It's not actually very scientific, but it is all we have! :)

Hey Returning Son, thanks for posting those pics.

What are your comments on the thickness of the dark brown lambskin? Is it similar to or thinner than tha authantic lambskin?

Thanks.

I think its thinner..the whole jacket appears to be lighter than the reg Raiders lambskin but I am sure the cotton lining on the raiders adds alot of weight to it when compared to the nylon lining of the TOD...

the ToD is very light. That's the first thing that struck me when mine arrived. I can't really see Wested using a different authentic or dark lamb hide for these than they do for a Raiders. Hides will vary anyway and a few will be used in each jacket.

Thanks, KT. Guess the "breathing room" is pretty... variable. Since the 34 is a 34 and the ToD is a 38 with the breathing room. :-k I guess just measure conservatively.

I was quite surprised that my TOD weighs about the same as my Todds Standard.

I haven't gotten my TOD yet, but I think there is a lot to the idea of the lining affecting the weight of the jacket. It's one of the reasons I think Todd's seem so light, but hold up pretty well.

Hello everybody!
I just have received my Wested TOD in Auth. Lamb.
WOW! After getting a Tony Nowak jacket I never thought that Wested could blow me away. But they did. The jacket is great! The leather is even softer as my first Lambskin Wested which I got nearly 3 years ago.
I also like the auth. lamb much more then the db lamb. I don't like the reddish tone of the db.

I went for a size 40 and it's perfect! The sleeves are much tappered and it really got that snug TOD fit. I love that bigger zipper!
Pics to follow. I'm glad that I wasn't able anymore to change the leather to the washed goat. The Lamb is so soft and the smell :notworthy:
Wait time was 16 days. I also got the MKVII Gas Mask Bag but it has some very big inscription on it from a black marker... The only downside of this order.

Regards

That's a very short wait time, at least from my experience.

You can fix your gas bag , have some flat latex paint mixed in the colour of the bag, use it as a dressing, work it in well and when it's dry give it a work over with a brush if you want. You may have to dilute it some before applying. Trust me, the Army used to do it with a product varyingly called Capo, Blanco, etc.

Still waiting on mine. I know this wasn't Wested's fault but I hope the goat has rolled in.

I've recently ordered a TOD in washed goat.
I'm glad I got to see the washed goat (my ROLA), as I know I've made the right choice; it's perfect for TOD.
I've asked Peter for original hardware if there's any left.
After receiving an earlier jacket with the incorrect vents and stormflap, I'm hoping Wested can make this one extra special; I kind of think those of us who got the early jackets got a bit of a raw deal.
Having a corrected jacket with the good hardware would make my day, so I'm crossing my fingers...

Ok seriously, what's up with Wested? Do they not know how to respond to emails? It's been about 2 months since I got an email from Gemma saying that my TOD jacket had been cut. I emailed her last Friday and still, no response. This is frustrating...

I think their email system was out part of last week and over the weekend. She may not have even seen it Knibs.

I just found something strange on my Wested TOD jacket.
Here a picture:

Looks like the Collar isn't long enough? There is a big gap visible.
Or does this collar such needs to be trained and stretched?

I found you need to 'work' the leather around the top of the collar stand.
The construction of the collar on this jacket means it needs a bit more such work in this area than maybe usual to get the collar in place.

It would have wondered me if they would ever get things 100% right.
Thanks RCSignals. I will try to get the collar in shape.

Orb,My OTR washed goat LC has a similar appearance........collar measures 3 1/4 in at tip and 2 1/4 in in back..what are measurements on yours??

Posted: Fri Jan 23, 2009 5:14 pm

I just have trained the collar using water and now it's about 95% better then before.

mines the same, but I don't want to use water on it.. I just fold it properly on a hangar and leave it like that.. I also find the inside lower part of the collar stand rides up easily.. hmmph

Piers and Orb , what are your collar measurements....the center seam in back seems to limit what can be done with stretching.......looking for input....

I just worked the leather collar fold along the top of the collar stand with my hand. Seems to have worked well.

Sold that lamb and I've just ordered a washed goat. Worked on some measurements and if they don't add a foot of "breathing room" it should be fine!

I asked for the 80s fit, and 5 gauge zippers instead of the 8, because I think the 8 - although SA - just looks silly on me.

I hope you get what you want this time Shane.
It really is too bad about he first one, because it looks very good in the pictures, and had the best collar stand end I've seen so far.

I know... :? It was just too much of a risk to try and shrink it to fit with water. If it didn't work, I'd have a shrunken jacket to try and sell. And besides, everybody knows the washed goat is the best. ;-) :P

I couldn't resist! After getting such a great fitting Wested TOD Jacket in Auth. Lamb. I had to order the same jacket in washed goat. I just asked for a second inner pocket this time. I never had a goat leather before.
Fingers crossed. The last thing on my list would be an accurate LC jacket :whip:

I think there's going to be one heck of a wait for these Washed goat TOD's. Some folks that ordered larger sizes back in October haven't even got their jackets yet, I believe. Not Wested's fault mind you, just not enough good washed goat to go around. I've got one on order too..

Hey Kevin Anderson!
I just need a size 40 Long again.
As long I will get the jacket with Revised Collar and Vents, Original Hardware only and without the backbone mark. I can wait :)
I have put these extra specs in the Special Request Box when I have placed the order.

Well, good luck then Orb!
So far, every jacket I've seen you pictured in looks great on you.
Your lamb TOD in particular is fantastic. I hope the washed goat is just as nice.
You'll have the lamb TOD for special occasions, and the more 'beat up' looking washed goat for adventuring!

Exactly!
Unless you really have to have one of every jacket from each of the 4 films (and there's nothing wrong with that!), I think all you need are two good indy jackets; a nice, shiny dressy one for the special occasions, and another for just wearing the heck out of.
It's taken me 6 jackets to work that out...!
