So ya, I just ordered my Nowak Indy jacket. Should be here in 12 days. I got number 618 for the first day of shooting on Indy IV. Will post pics when I get it.

Yes!!! Once you try it on, you will realize that every penny was worth it! It is a shame you can't meet Tony. He is really such a nice guy and has shop has some pretty cool things in it!

Let's spill some beans. Tony told me last week, he had in hand an original Raiders jacket. Quite excited about it in fact. And he never asked me not to mention it so..........it is mentioned. Another bit of info from blabber mouth Fedora.

Also, Tony if you are reading this, I really do love the jacket you sent to me via Bernie's request. Originally, I was gonna just keep it, but this thing is so bullet proof, I must wear it, and wear it alot. And sorry I missed your follow up calls.

If Tony replicates the Raiders jacket, I definetely will hock one of my guitars to buy one. The craftmanship on my new jacket is what I want in a jacket. I rate it up there with my RM a-2 in quality. Great job Tony!!

Does anyone own an exact replica of the Indy 4 film jacket? Without the real world mods as Tony refers to them? Fedora

Sorry if it's posted elsewhere but what is the price for one of the Indy IV Jackets? I looked on Tony's site but it didn't say anything about price...

Yeah, i second that. Besides, you do not take into account materials, labor and production costs. Remeber, each jacket comes with a handmade, satin lined bag and a Indy IV patch that he makes himself. His return is not that great!

The very best idea I have read to date as what to do with that bag (as folks WEAR the jacket) was to use it as a pillow slip on a pillow for display on a bed or couch.

Now THAT was a neat idea!!

I am using it whenever I travel. The satin lining will keep the jacket nice and the outer, thick stiching will prevent anything from getting on it!

Well, I wouldn't care about preventing damage...It just adds character to an Indy Jacket...

Why are they so different? Are there two different versions of the Nowak jacket out there? Any thoughts? Also, has anyone got instructions on how to treat the jacket like they did for the film? The screen jackets look darker brown???

I'm staying out of the pocket debate this time. Best to call Tony if you want a definitive explanation.

The only difference I see is the pocket on top is scalloped.

Look pretty much the same to me. The first one appears slightly scalloped, but that's probably be a visual illusion. Let's start a war about it becasue we don't ever disagree about this stuff at all.

The illusion of the scalloped pocket flap is well documented. You can see it on some of Kryptinians other pictures of his straight pocket flap. When viewed from the side, because of the curvature around the body and angle etc, the straight pocket flap appears scalloped (like in "original 1"). The pocket flap to the above left is quite obviously scalloped, head on. They are blatantly quite different. This seems seems to be something of an inconsistency in production, unless the scallop was specifically asked for.

Agreed; they both look nice, but the LESS scalloped pocket looks, well, more rugged, and 'used', in my opinion. I'd be happy with either.
Kryptonian's looks more appropriate for a pre-distressed jacket though.
The other pocket looks barely used, with minimal distressing.

The pocket flaps on my TN jacket are not scalloped, but can appear scalloped under certain conditions. The scalloping effect depends on the angle at which you view the pocket flap as well as whether the flap is bent one way or the other.

When viewed from a lower angle, my pocket flaps look exactly like the first photo, above left. When viewed from a higher angle or straight on, they appear as in the second photo, top right. I can also create a scalloped effect by bending the flaps.

I believe someone else posted that his pocket flap was stretched a little, causing a slightly scalloped look.

I had posted about this issue back in July, right when I got my jacket. Although, when I saw ReturningSon's pictures it was clear to me that there definitely was a difference in the pockets, that it wasn't simply an illusion. I wasn't tryin to stir up the pot guys, I just wanted to have your opinions. I wanted to know if there were a couple different patterns used... I e-mailed Tony with the question and pictures, (I also needed to ask him about my zippers, he's sending me a bag of replacement zippers)... his response regarding the pocket flaps is as follows:

HELLO SHAWN ! THEY ARE ALL MADE BY THE SAME PATTERN BUT THERE ARE NO TWO ALIKE - HANDCRAFTED LEATHER , I AM LOOKING AT A RAIDERS JACKET HERE THAT I DID NOT MAKE AND THE TWO POCKETS ON THE SAME JACKET ARE DIFFERENT . YES I DID SEND THE ZIPPER PARTS AND THE FEDEX GROUND # IS XXXXXXXXXXXXX. EACH AND EVERY JACKET IS UNIQUE AND ONE OF A KIND STARTING WITH THE ONES IN THE FILM AND AGAIN THERE ARE NO TWO ALIKE . I TRULY WISH THAT EVERYBODY COULD SEE HOW THE INDY 4 ARE MADE , THEY WOULD LOVE THEM EVEN MORE . MY VERY BEST REGARDS ALWAYS TONY NOWAK .

Could be Bermans & Nathans? Tony also brought up Leather Concessionaires when I talked to him and was aware that they made the Hero jackets, but I think the labels were removed on the screen used jackets.

Leather Concessionaires was how he said the jacket was labeled. Is it true Leather Concessionaires was renamed Wested Leather? When did this name change occur? Why?

While browsing Wested's site, I found this video where Peter shows a BBC newscaster the Crystal Skull jacket?

Thanks for confirming this. Leather Concessionaires made the jackets for Raiders and Last Crusade, before Peter left and formed Wested. I'm not sure of the exact details surrounding his departure and the forming of his own company.

Peter claims he was misquoted in that video; I don't know why he's showing it on his website without a disclaimer, though.

EDIT: Actually, I just tried to play it and couldn't; if the interview is as it originally aired, though, Peter says "This is the jacket from Crystal Skull," or something very close to that, which does give the impression that he is taking credit for Tony's work.

I believe Peter said that there was footage cut out of that interview, in which he made it clear that he was not the one who actually made the jackets that were used in the movie. If this footage exists, it should of course have been reedited into any video he is showing on his website-- or at least be accompanied by a written disclaimer.

Who's had to replace their zipper on their Nowak jacket? Did he send you stronger "non-SA" zippers and the SA zippers for you to replace yourself?

No. I just got the zipper that was on the jacket. I don't know if it is SA or not. It does hold my jacket closed. Screen accurate? I don't know. Functional? Yes.

Why would you have to replace the zipper on a jacket only a few months old? Was there a problem with them? They look sturdy enough in pictures. Are they YKK brand?

On my second TN jacket I asked for him to size the zipper up because I felt the original zipper on my first jacket was just a little too wimpy and the pull would twist and sometimes get caught. It would not get caught on the liner or anything just in the mechanism itself. The new zipper is much beefier and has the same finish as the old one.

I did the same thing. These jackets are just too heavy to have a little zipper. The bigger zipper is the way to go!!

Aside from that video, the site also gives the impression that the CS jacket was made directly from a 'control sample' made by them. Which may be interpreted as the CS jacket is their design.

We also provided 'Control Samples' for the new films 'Crystal Skulls' jacket made locally in LA. based on the Last Crusade pattern.

Usually a 'control sample' is something that is not deviated from.

Anyway, it's all in wording.

From what I read here and from talking to Tony I don't think that is quite correct. Maybe I'm just confused again.

Tony says he copied the Smithsonian jacket, and that it was guarded the whole time it was at his studio. Some have suggested that he misiunderstood what they told him and that it must have been an Archive jacket he was given to copy.

But what he says does make sense, especially if the Smithsonian's Indy exhibit was closed at the time he made the copy, as I have heard that it was.

Maybe the CS jacket write-up, whenever it is finished, will clear up the confusion.
