Here is another great contender for a modern-day Indy gun. Chambered in Indy's favorite .45 caliber and having a four-inch barrel, it is the perfect descendent to his original ROTLA S&W Hand Ejector.

I present the Smith & Wesson Model 625-8 Performance Center Jerry Miculek 45 ACP Revolver!!

They wanted him to have a 1911 backup, but used a hi power because the 9mm blanks were more reliable and it looked close enough. So how about a double stack 1911?
Fir a revolver eithe an updated smith and Wesson or a Ruger GP100 or sp101

1911 or a Browning Hi-Power. 9mm was more easy to find around the globe than .45 so a case could be made for either.

Alternatively if Indy was contemporary in that he was 35ish in 2023 then him not being a pistolero he would likely choose a Glock (God forbid) or Smith Model 19. They are garden variety, reliable, field grade sidearms.

Seeing how Indy was partial to U.S. and British Army issued handguns in both 9mm and .45 calibers, I would say still the Colt 1911, and Browning hi power. Also to include Beretta 92F, and the Sig M17. As for a revolver? I would say it would still be a Smith & Wesson with 4" barrel.

Modern Indy would totally use a surplus Beretta M9

I don't think stainless steel is Indy's style, but you're getting close.

The S&W Model 1950/Model 22/Thunder Ranch .45 is an updated M1917.
