My Dad claims he can do the same thing, but he said he can knock a fly off a horse's ear. We had neither a fly nor a horse, so he couldn't prove it. I wish he'd tried to teach me that rather than juggling. Who the hades wants to juggle when you can crack whip?

Has anyone ever seen the old Flash Gordon movie? The hereo and a villian/later hero have a whip duel on some rotating disc that tilted for the amusement of some aliens like gladiators..but all they used were whips. It was actually kinda neat.
Personally I have used a whip as self defense weapon and it worked well...not saying that it would work all the time but that one time..it did work. Hitting a person with a bullwhip at full speed produces ALOT of pain and when used on a persons thigh will create enough pain to get them to stop in their tracks..and in that moment of distraction the same type of injurie can be inflicted upon any opening (preferably the face, head, hands or forearms.) And one of these individuals was on drugs which the Officers said would have made them immune to the pain.....it didn`t!
So my lowly opinion is that it can be used as a weapon in the right hands and with the right type of practice..from experience.

I remember that scene. I swear I've seen that movie 30+ times. In 1983, HBO wouldn't stop showing the darn thing.

That scene was with that #### that who ruined the 007 movies for awhile, right?

I watched it everytime...just for that part. I believe they used black stockwhips,huh?
And yeah, I got off a great shot..ripped his pant leg open and my second shot popped his ear. Scary but practical.
