Brown Fed IV, Dark brown slacks, brown and grey tweed vest, dark brown microsuede sports coat, white shirt, pocket watch and Magnoli's Pankot tie!

I hadn't tied it in a long time but luckily remembered how, I worked on it last night and was not happy with the results but this morning it just clicked.

It's not as perfect as some of the tie's I'm seeing on here but I don't think it's too bad, lol. I'd take a pic but my phone is lost....

I'm having a hard time getting it as tight as I want it, but I guess that just takes more practice.

But this is the most I've ever felt like "Professor" so far....

Sounds great! Even though I wear bow ties quite regularly, Magnoli's Pankot tie is the only straight-edge bow tie I own and still the trickiest. At the same time, it's among my favorites (second only to my Dead Sea Scrolls bow ties, but that's for vocational reasons). Yep, the more practice with it, the better it'll look each time. Sounds like a good outfit combination--hope to see pics next time!

:TOH: Best wishes,
Nebraska Schulte

I'll second the straight-edge trickiness of the Pankot tie!!! I ordered one from Magnoli for my 20th reunion 2 years ago, and ended up falling in love with another bow from Carrot & Gibbs (which also happened to tie really, really easily)...

However, for the QM summit I was bound and determined to get the Pankot tie to work, and I was a little more practiced than my previous attempt (though still rusty!)...I'm happy to say that it turned out at least passably well, but my arms were shot after futzing to get it right for a solid half-hour!

Also, it was pretty cool that my roommate Indiana Jeff was also sporting the Pankot dinner outfit, complete with his new 'Pankot tie'!

Magnoli had changed the material recently, and we found ourselves comparing the two...I like them both! Guess it's time for another order from New Zealand.... I'll post the pic of us both once I get a chance to catch my breath (still huffing and puffing from the Summit!)

I did get a strange look from a guy at work that had taught himself how to tie a tie. I unraveled mine and rolled up my sleeves at the end of the day and he looked at it stating, "That doesn't have a taper...."

I had to tell him it was a straight edge tie and he was kinda blwon by that....

BTW guys, I was at a TJ max this weekend and they had a WIDE selection of self tie bow ties. Some blue, red and orange plaids.
