All I can say is I've got two westeds a lamb and a goat for the price I'd have paid for I FS. And I've seen both FS and Wested frankly I'll stick with Peter my jackets are perfect for what I wanted and I'll repay that with my loyalty when/if the time comes to order another one.

I will not debate which jacket is better.I just got my FS in lamb and it took two weeks for me to recieve it.I bought the 48R and it fit me perfectlyMy jacket cost me $428.00 plus $6.75 shipping total $434.75.The wested in my size would have been $265.00, shipping $30.00 plus duty $30.00 total cost $325.00 so the difference in price was $109.75. In my case i couldn't buy 2 Wested for the price of a Flight Suits jacket. I don't want several Indy jackets and i'm very happy with my purchase.

That's all that matters. I'm tired of these Jacket Wars althought they'll always probably be here. I love my FS. I have two USWings I enjoy as well. All three are different. When I get a Wested someday, which I probably will...., I'm sure I'll enjoy that too. They're all Indy Jackets, they all have something different to add to the mix here. Like with the Fedoras. I like the variety, the little nuances between them all. If you enjoy your jacket, regardless of manufacturer, that is ALL that should matter.

Heck, even some of those Disney's look nice to me too!

We also have to remember that without the competition of
having several vendors to choose from, we would not have
the improvements that have taken place over the last
several years.

With just one vendor, we have to take what they make,
and be happy with it whether we like it or not, as that is
the only means of supply.

However, with multiple suppliers, each vendor must then
keep making improvements in order to keep the customers
coming back for more. This also benefits the vendors too.
They learn how to make things better, faster and in some
cases, even cheaper. (I said some, not all)

And we all know that just about every single one of us has
bought at least TWO jackets! Whether they be from the
same vendor or not, we have bought more than one because
they keep getting better and better.

Its like the car analogy again. If it were not for the japanese
models to compete with the american cars, the american
cars would still be the rust bucket pieces o' doo doo of the
mid to late 70's!

I think Runquist makes some good points and I don't need to reiterate them myself. I only add that I've been wearing my pre-distressed Wested for about six months and now I'll wear my pre-distressed Expedition through the winter. Why? The FS is new and it's visual appeal to me is unmatched by anything I've seen so far. Having a pre-distressed cowhide jacket from the two vendors in question, I feel I can speak my opinion with a degree of authority that the Wested is one of the best bargains around for your money. Come on, a custom-made jacket from guy who made Harry's? You bet! But when you see and feel both side-by-side and wear both you cannot help but to notice differences that are definitely worth the extra $200. The hide, the stitching, .... I guess if you have a chance to go to a Summit or three, then go and learn to crack a whip and also compare a Wested to a Wings to a Gibson & Barnes. Then, you can continue to disagree with Expo owners but at least see what we mean and where we are coming from.

Uh oh. Getting a bit too apologetic. The bottom line is that I own both, love both, and think they are both great jackets. They're just targetted to two different markets, that's all.
