I agree. the CGI was like WHAT?? It was scary watching that scene for the first time. Roland does look like Arnold in real life tho but he is way taller and and his legs are too big. other the that he did a great job.

yeah, I agree on the jacket streetwise. but it does look cool :D

Thanks, Jeff!

It's a medium....and I wear a 42-44R depending on how the jacket is cut.

Medium looks to fit you very well. I'd be interested to see what the back looks like. I think I'd need a medium in the jacket or a small. I wear a 38 jacket usually.

I'll have to get Mrs. Indydawg to get some shots of the back...good light to do it today, too...

I think the medium would fit a 38 just fine...shouldn't hang TOO much...but, I'd let Sarge make the call on it...he does it for me.

Oh, and Jessica....thank you, ma'am ;) :TOH:

Thanks, P! I appreciate that!

The G-8 I gifted to a teacher friend of mine who could otherwise NEVER have afforded a decent leather jacket...much less one with the pedigree that one has! He teaches history and has enough sense to avoid places like this knowing how having a teacher's salary, a house, a stay-at-home wife and four boys just wouldn't work well. He's a huge Indy fan and we were sitting around one night looking through my stuff...ran across that jacket (which never fit right in the sleeves...it was a medium long..so the sleeves were three or four inches too long) and we talked about the jacket's history..he was just drooling...so, I let him have it...

That helps answer it for me. I was debating between a M and L, but I wear a 42R so it looks like M is for me.

Oh, yeah, Jeff...the medium will be perfect for you!!!

And, as promised...some pics of the BACK of my bison Legend jacket...
http://img600.imageshack.us/i/img8048.jpg/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
http://img341.imageshack.us/i/img8044w.jpg/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
http://img269.imageshack.us/i/img7749k.jpg/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I think the shots where part of the jacket is in light and part in shadow show the color possibilities with the jacket...it can certainly vary...

The full light shot has a lot of shadow issues, but it does show the "lay" of the jacket pretty well...

This shot just shows how cool the grain is...
http://img716.imageshack.us/i/img8066y.jpg/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

It's certainly got a LOT going for it...GREAT personality....and it can take a beating, I can tell you that! The first full day of wear..it's snowing and I'm out with the kids....I mis-step and the left upper arm scrapes against the metal side mirror on my old Jeep....I figure the leather is cut for sure...but a slight abrasion is all there is...I cut the few very tiny loose tips loose and put the spot through about ten progressive treatments with Pecards dark brown leather treatment...the spot is now almost totally blended and, unless you are looking dead at the place at JUST the right angle, you can't tell it at all...

It's one tough leather...

Okay- I have a wierd one...this is longer than a jacket but when I put it on, I definitely suddenly feel friskier, more daring..it my black Inverness Cloak. For those who don`t know- it`s the type of overcoat usually depicted as worn by Sherlock Holmes. Long, black, button front with a smaller shoulder cape, Mao collar. Maybe its the whole,"The games afoot" scenario but I am not even a big fan of Holmes so I have no idea why it makes me feel adventurous. Maybe cuz sometimes it looks like a Batman cape? It is very lightweight so maybe it can count as a jacket for this thread since I wear it as often as I do my Indy Jackets.

I think the discounts were pulled from the table after Jan 1st....but only for people who had not ordered and paid BEFORE the break....if you did that, then the discount will be applied....

At least, that's my recollection of it...

EDIT: I just ran across this posted FROM Sarge AFTER I typed my above reply...so, I guess I stand corrected...
I would jump on a sure thing and order the Roz Schott Striated Lamb.. With the $ 100.00 COW discount how can you go wrong? With the Leather Shortage even the Import is going sky high and Like I have been telling all my contacts.. It is no longer a matter of how much it is all about when will you have it!! The 71 Striated Lamb just made will all be gone and then what? You can't get a better jacket and you won't get a better price.... Food for thought.

I've owned a number of jackets over the years:- Terminator Harley style, fantastic leather bombers, my army kit - all of which I've enjoyed (or still enjoy) immensely - but in the end, its the Wings Antique Cowhide that's done it for me.

Personally, I don't give a toss if its SA or not because to be frank, its the toughest, easiest to wear jacket I've ever owned.

Its been to many countries and on a lot of adventures already and next week it goes with me to Africa for some rugged bush duty.
In all honesty, its not jacket weather over there but I will certainly find an excuse to wear it…

Yeah... definitely want to echo what the other guys are saying here, Mark... just a really great looking jacket that is just FANTASTIC on you!
:clap:
Everything's working together in perfect conjunction:
-The leather is aging beautifully
- You're giving it the adventure it deserves
- The fit could not be more perfect
- You've got the build that makes it work

Just a really greating pairing of the jacket & the owner.
Deepest admiration...

Wow I wish my hero cow fit me like that! Maybe I need to hit the gym #-o

That's a fine jacket all the way around. As to a screen reproduction, I was watching Raiders again and it struck me that it's darn near impossible to make out all the details of any one jacket due to the fact they trashed them to the Nth degree. In reality if any one of us were to wear that exact jacket we'd come off looking like a bum or someone wearing an Indiana Jones costume. What I find myself struck by is the reality that what I've liked about Indy's jacket all along is that it is an extension of his personality. I can tell that Mark's jacket is an extension of his personality. It fits all the way around. Wear it well!

I'm really digging the fit of the new Legend as it is better suited to what works for me: fitted and dark. I could see it becoming my go to jacket but as much as I love the Indy style jackets my favorite is still my Cockpit vintage goatskin G1 (M-422A). It's really tailored for action and the best driving jacket I've ever owned. When it's unzipped it takes on a really cool an rebellious tone. I also grew up idolizing fighter pilots and aviation and my G1 really reminds me of what my definition of cool is. It's a jacket that I feel fits me best all the way around.

Gentlemen my thanks for your especially kind words. As always, I'm a little surprised that a simple garment of clothing could elicit such an enthusiastic response but since I've been a member here for a little while, I should have learned by now that this is FAR more than just a simple passion for many members here…

I feel gladd96's comment sums up perfectly the way I feel about the jacket topic generally. I don't look like Harrison, I'm not the same size as him and so in the end, I simply don't bother to try. The other thing is that its fair to say that I treat this jacket robustly. It never hangs on a hanger and I feel nothing about sliding down something (like a rock) with it on or sitting in a bar with my elbow in a damp spot left by my glass of beer. It's there to be used and use it I will.. I have no idea if this has given it any character you see but I do know that I enjoy its company immensely and hence my desire to include it in this thread.

I'm delighted and honored by the feedback and I thank you all profoundly for taking the time to comment.

Warm regards

MARK

I agree, Mark and Mitch!

Not to diss on any of the guys who have done to washer treatments on their jackets in the past, but I was talking the other day with another member here about this very thing....whether or not to do the wash treatment.

My feelings on it are, if you want the jacket to LOOK like it's worn hard....then wear it hard! If you wash it...then that's the only story you'll have to tell about how it got that way. If you wear it....every bump, striation, distressed spot, scratch, every mark on the jacket will have a story to tell....and you'll have made the jacket uniquely yours because of the stories you've lived in it.

THAT'S the way to make an Indy jacket, IMO....LIVIN' the adventure!!!

Well said, guys!

Once again I'm seeing a guy in a jacket that fits him BEAUTIFULLY and made with a leather that has a personality all it's own... moreover, a personality that's just perfectly in step with the man wearing it.
My highest regards and compliments to you (and that sweet jacket!)

Appropriately I just got an image of my head of the scene in T2 were John Connor tries to teach Arnie to smile:

Image

Well I know this is just a stock photo for now (and yes yes I shall at some point get real photos of me wearing it) but I just recently purchased this jacket and man am I so in love for it.

Image

It was a bit of a risk in my eyes, because it looks fantastic in the photos but I find sometimes you never know how a particular style will look ON YOU until you actually try it on. But from fit to drape this jacket is wonderful - its got quite a heavy lining but thats perfect for the cold weather we have at the moment. When I wear it I feel like I just crawled out of my plane that crashed in the amazon... I guess it would be Jock's jacket if he were to wear one!

I actually like this more than my Indy jacket I think - its truly unique it just has that 'spirit of adventure' that this thread is talking about.

Now just need a good pair of aviators to go with it!
