Sorry to be redundant but what's a ballpark idea on a release date?

Based on what we've experienced with the 'hero' and New Zealand lambskin jackets, considering the forms will not be sent out until Sept. 1st, I would guess mid to late September myself.

It all depends on the numbers and volume of sales as to the turnaround. :-k

Thanks M! Sorry :anxious: to bother just thinking about the Halloween costume this year and this jacket is going to be perfect!

Ummm... no one needs another jacket around here!! I have promised my fiancee that I will be selling four of my leather jackets this fall. :[

You know, Sarge is smart to stagger the release of these film jackets to one each year. That way, each of us insane nuts can justify buying each of them... "Well, I haven't bought a new jacket in a year..." :-

Just to say, you're not bothering anyone at all, Zane! That's a good question, and is another factor folks need to consider, timing wise. :M:

Yep, Forest, it's a good justification....I think....at least worth a try! :anxious:

You are okay.. We will contact you and get all the requested information before Your Collectors Neil Cooper Radiers Jacket is made for you!! Neil will send out a form via e-mail and just fill in all the information ... We will start sending out the Forms Sept. 1,2010 .

Since a form is being sent out for us to fill out information on the jacket, does this mean these will be treated as custom jackets?

All we know is:
We will not supply any information about how the Collector Neil Cooper Raiders jacket is made until they have been released due to the fact there are some people out and about that would love to pass on Information about how Neil Cooper is Making his Raiders Jacket.

To echo Scott2525's sentiments, I too would like to know whether these are going to be custom tailored. It sounds like they might be...why else the reason for the measurements? Or it could be a way to make sure that they're sending out the correctly sized jacket the first time 'round, thereby reducing the need for exchanges.

Anyone have any ideas?

My guess is they'll be made in standard sizes and the measurements will be a better way of telling people what size they'll need to order. I'm just thinking 'out loud', so to speak.

I have no idea what will be on the form that Neil Cooper will be sending out, but from what little I HAVE heard/read, they will more than likely NOT be custom. We're talking about a LOT of jackets here. He never said the form would need 'measurements'. He just said Neil would be sending out a form.

The quote is:
We will contact you and get all the requested information before Your Collectors Neil Cooper Radiers Jacket is made for you!! Neil will send out a form via e-mail and just fill in all the information ... We will start sending out the Forms Sept. 1,2010 .
Sarge
That could also mean name, address, signature or not, and size.

I'm thinking if they go with the numerical sizing,, the form will just be to confirm requested standard size so they can get a count on how many of each they'll need on an individual basis rather than a general guess to what sizes they'll need to fill orders, like they did for the 'hero' jackets.

That said, mine is just a guess too.

How will the calfskin be compared to the striated lamb in terms of texture, weight, etc.?

Also is it to be assumed calfskin is the same price as striated lamb?

Sgt. I would hope there would at least be a Ford sized hero somewhere in th fit range... should members specify the request for that in the email to Myke if that is the desired size vs. S/M/L?

As of this morning, I believe the decision was to go with regular sizing INSTEAD of the S-M-L etc, but I'll leave it to David to confirm that's the direction they're going to go.

That hasn't entirely been confirmed, only that Neil will be sending out a form asking something. Which could be measurements, but could also not.

Maybe I am not being clear... if this indeed a %100 accurate replica of what Neil created originally to fit on Ford I would hope that there is a 1:1 base size somewhere in the sizes offered. I can already get a 1:1 Ford sized replica of the original Raiders from Nowak Originals, so just making sure I can get the same great fit if ordering from Wings as well since I have yet to see an accurate fit from them for me or anyone in the Fordish frame.
I would think Neil having made one of the original hero jackets would be offering that exact pattern within this group of sizes, so I am just asking the source if that is what we can expect.

Actually the 'Ford size' jacket sizing is about the same for all the movies. His jacket requirement measurements don't seem to have change much over time.

HWalt - I get what you're trying to say now... I hope it is as simple as that. I am sure once Mr. Cooper and Wings have the grading set they will be able to tell us that if we want a 1:1 Ford Hero sized jacket we should order the 42R for example, that was the point of me asking the question... just wondering what we put in the email to Myke other than "I want a jacket."
Hopefully they are starting with the original pattern AND sizing of the Hero then spec'ing out all the other sizes from there and not going with the present US Wings fitment, which sets the sleeves too short and wide, the bodies too long and wide, back panel too narrow, etc. etc.
I know all too well trying to make a jacket to fit the masses is crazy difficult, but I believe the point of this offering is to finally get a jacket that actually is like the original from an original creator of one of the movie jackets after all the years of the fans wanting just that. It kinda stinks that after all these decades we have to basically custom spec a jacket with various makers that were supposedly linked to Raiders like the "Six Degrees of Kevon Bacon" to even come close, and hopefully this offering breaks some of that trend and comes close to what we can get from a great maker replicating an actual seen on screen jacket.

I'm really excited to see the final results of these Indy jackets. It'll be great to get a 100% standard screen-accurate hero Indy jacket from each of the movies w/out having to request those features; regardless of whom the vendor may be. I sent Myke an email to be placed on the list for the Temple O' Doom jacket if its not too early to do so ;) .

I apologize if this is an elementary question to ask - but is calfskin more durable than the lamb? If so, how much more so? I've owned a few lambskin jackets before in the past and I pledged to avoid purchasing another simply because I'm hard on clothing and haven't had much personal luck in keeping them from getting ripped or torn at one point or another. Although I can be partial to the goatskin, I may tender the possibility in purchasing the calfskin if it is a durable hide once the Temple jackets are made available... :-k Overall, my compliments to Sarge both for his service for our country and taking on this project for us die-hard Indy fans!

All the best,
Aaron

The Man, you pretty much nailed all you need to say in your email to Wings.

I said I was a member here, gave my screen name, said I had seen this thread and wished to be added to the list.

I also inquired about what measurements they needed from me at this time, and they replied back; none, that request for information would come from them sometime in the future.

Very quick correspondence too.

Calfskin is more durable than lambskin. I'd say it falls just below cowhide in tensile strength.

I've owned a calfskin jacket, and it was as light as lambskin, but a lot tougher.

I could be wrong but I'm not sure there will be a choice of leathers for the Temple jacket. I understood it to be that there will be a choice for Raiders but the rest will be matched to the movie jacket.

This info has been out there for years. _ pushed hard trying to get vendors to make them....No vendors wanted to invest in calfskin hides for this one jacket all these years. How many times has _ dropped the hint in threads over the years "still trying to get my calfskin version....", even at Indyfan?

The first I'm personally aware of was Todd, and he made his first round of customs out of calfskin. I don't know if HE'S even using it now.

No, not really, old friend. =;

We (and I include myself in this 'we') have been told repeatedly every jacket was lambskin.

It was those few 'voices in the wilderness' who told us it was calfskin, but we followed the crowd. I only came around during the Expedition project with _ back in 2000 or so.

I beat the drum with Wings for well over a decade that they needed to make this jacket....but of the material I was still 'blinded' by the convential postings of the time. I 'knew', but I really didn't give it much more thought than that! #-o

So, you're not the Lone Ranger!

OK, it's done! I just emailed Myke to get on the list. Last night I explained what is going over here at COW and Wings to my wife, who did urge me to get a HERO jacket in cow, she said it was a terrific price but said to wait if it wasn't "the one"; anyway, she said it was good that I had waited and asked me why wasn't I on the list yet! Wow what a gem I have! If jackets are going out presumably the middle of Sept. it will be just in time for my 35th birthday!

I put my name down for the Striated lamb based on pictures I had seen from other vendors versions, but I am torn between the lamb and the calf based on the discussion that it was calf in the original. I really wish there was a way to view a leather sample, but I realize that is difficult. any thoughts on calf vs lamb for the Raiders?
