Mid grey? Looks gray to my eye. Personally I'd pass on the mid grey.

The FAWN Cav twill shown on the Weinbergs website looks like good stuff. I'm not sure these guys are as eager to make SA Indy pants like Magnoli or Todd's is. This is where you take a chance with your gear dollars. My chance cost me quite a bit, and I lucked out.

If I have to be honest the fawn looks good(ish) for Last Crusade but hardly for Raiders. You're probably right, mid grey is not correct either but one cannot expect to find the "right" colour straight away. The originals were dyed for the film and not purchased from a regular stock. So the colour was rather unique and the only way to get close to the original one is to custom order the cavalry twill to be dyed of a tone as close as possible to the screen used trousers... reason why Noel Howard for years could do it right while other vendors could only guess what colour would be most accurate

I agree the mid grey is not close, but is a good start I guess. Again Erri makes a very good point, it is extremely likely the pants were custom made by Noel Howard. He could have taken some pants and dyed them to the color they were desiring for the film. The color pants you got Indiana Jake are very awesome and I just can't wait to see what turns out from this project Magnoli is piecing together here.

Not just "likely". I was told by Noel that they were custom dyed. And he was also very clear on the fact that last crusade were lighter than Raiders (can't remember but maybe ToD were the same colour of LC, memory fades...)

Well I think really only Wested can get the color right then now since they have Noel pants. If that is what he told you I believe that, just the design on the Wested pants is off. Any more updates on this Magnoli? Just was wondering.

I won't know a price until all the fabric is finished and arrived at our shop. Hopefully we won't get hit with customs, but we did with our last run of Joker fabric.

The first thing I noticed were the dropped belt loops, very period accurate. :whip: I keep saying this, but when I drop a few pounds, I'm gonna order a pair of pants. I'm actually doing something about the weight loss at present, too.

Well, Indiana Jake's pics are so awesome, I want a pair! Are yours 100% wool or the wool blend (twill)?

Just a couple of questions, to get a "vintage" fit, should I go a size up or my regular size? I just wonder if the pants are a regular fit, fit tighter than normal or are a bit looser fit...any insight would be helpful!

Also, should I wait until this new fabric is ready to go?!

Singing Johnny,

Not sure exactly what you mean by a vintage fit. I'll try to explain what I did to get the fit you see. I had a higher rise made on the pants so they fit my body type better. Definitely a feature of vintage trousers. Also, determine how you want the fit through the seat and thighs. I prefer a loose fit through the seat and thigh area. Makes the drape much more classic and comfortable. I measured a pair of vintage pants that fit me well to get the right rise and room through the seat and legs. It worked out well this way.

Wait till the new fabric is in and get 100% wool, cavalry twill. Worth it!

Yeah, I was going to order a pair, but I'll wait until the custom fabric comes in, sounds intriguing...what exactly is the custom fabric based on?

I also have a quick fit question...is it better to order my size or go a bit bigger? How is the fit of these pants? Tight at the waist or relaxed? Can't wait to place an order!

The new fabric is based on the cavalry wool originally used by Noel Howard. Our custom run, however, will be a wool blend to make them a little more practical (as far as washing is concerned). They will look and feel just like 100% wool though. This is my personal preference as I find a good wool blend is hardly recognizable from pure wool.

As for measurements, these pants are made based on the info provided with little "built in" to the pattern as far as fit. If you provide tight measurements, that's what you'll get. If you want them loosely fitting, be sure that your hips and thigh measurements (especially) are loosely taken.

Kind regards,
Magnoli

Here is a swatch of the new custom cavalry twill we are manufacturing. Shown with two swatches (one from an older bolt) of our standard dark khaki wool blend (upper left), our standard stone cotton and custom buttons for our adventure shirt (bottom) and HJ fedora in sable (at top) in different lighting conditions:

i must say, i'm very impressed! i've been holding out for a pair of raiders pants for a long time now.
magnoli has great products, however the pants color just hasn't quite convinced me thus far. now, i'm convinced.
i'd like to hold out a bit longer to see how todd's are priced out, but this new magnoli color is a good seller for me right now. good work!

Based on the color & material I'm definitely on board for a pair... but I'm also curious to see how a finished pair of pants look with the pattern & details of the trousers Magnoli's offering.

The fabric is at my tailors now! I'll be having a pair made up for myself immediately so should have photos of the final produce in a few weeks. The price will most likely be the same as our pure wool Adventure Pants; $189 (shipping included).

Awesome Magnoli, thanks again for an update on these. Will these pants come unfinished for a local Tailor in our area to work on the bottom of the pants? When are these going to be available to order? Sorry I guess I am so :anxious: Thanks Magnoli for working on this project. Just awesome.  Thanks again.

As these will be entirely made-to-order you can specify anything you want as far as the cut and details (including unfinished hems). They can be ordered right now if you want, and would ship within a month. The first pair won't be ready for photography until mid June though.

I'm not sure if I'll be doing other tones, probably not just due to the costs involved.

How do I order a pair? What sizing info would be most helpful as far as waist goes? Normal pant size? Well I just want to be able a pair of these soon so just need to know what information I need to provide. Thanks Magnoli.

I need to order a pair however I either going to resign from my work or leave the possibility of being terminated. So I guess I held out a little longer than I should however I could probably get one pair of pants, I just need to know where I stand by the end of the month if I do resign, hopefully some of these other jobs I have been applying for will get back to me.

Wow. Magnoli...
I've gotta say, speaking for myself, I find it to be really quite shocking just HOW different this same fabric can look in different shots and lighting.

The fabric scan you posted above (that I'm reproducing below) looks to be exactly what I've been looking for... in fact, it's what prompted me to order a pair...
Image
(and the fact that you'd included in the picture a scan of the standard dark khaki reassured me that what I was seeing was an accurate portrayal of the new Cavalry Twill material you would be using...)

But it's amazing to me how different it seem to be able to "look" (a term that's subject to various interpretations, I realize) in the pictures you've posted in your catalog...

This shot looks very "stoney greyish" (at least, to me)...
Image

while THESE - amazingly, the same pants - look SO pink to my eyes...
Image

Image

Could you please tell us which of these photos - in your opinion - more accurately conveys the color as it appears "in person"?

Can't wait to see some photos from new owners once they start getting theirs! The look of that fabric and the details on these pants is amazing!

Many Thanks!
