Indiana Holt wrote:right. in every scene the jacket is visible in LC form the back it has a low yoke. adn from the front I clearly can see it is either the smiths jacket. the Hero jacket or some other jacket that has all the correct LC features in order.

here is the back of the Kurtz jacket. clearly raiderish yoke.

and the X-box with long straps. the hem stitch. smaller collar. taller pockets. little flap. the armseam 1 inch below the yoke. High vent. I am still amazed about why do people think that this is an LC. even though it is claimed to be an LC doesnt mean it is. this has all the features of a raiders jacket.

as I have said before. I think this is one of those left over raiders jackets that had the D rings on them. when LC came out they found a jacket gave it some quick LC distressing and told them this is an LC....

People think it's an LC mainly because the distressing is LC like. The LC distressing style is key to the LC jacket, without it you just have another i-j jacket at first look.

crismans wrote:I really like the flaps on your pockets, nephilo (the whole jacket is fantastic). But Tony can pretty much give you what you want on these things if you want to change something. For instance, this was what I was going for on my LC pocket:

And, here's what I received:

Of course the flap in the screencap is at a bit of an odd angle, but you can judge for yourself how close he got on the flaps. I'm certainly happy with the result.

I think your photos illustrate it well, and your pocket flap is like nephilos.
I believe what we are seeing in difference is photographic mostly.

that is just wrong. IMO( dont get me wrong I LOVE the way it looks)

but hear me out..

this with the distressing is KEY is not correct. there are many scenes were the jacket doesnt show the distressing that good. it is still cool looking.still LC looking.

and the same thing can be said with the Raiders fedora. if you dont have all the dust etc, blah,blah,blah.... you just have another Indy fedora. even though how incredible SA it is to raiders. sorry but thats not correct. you can clearly see the difference between a raiders soc hat and a tapered TofD hat. dust and distressing or not.

the distressing is not all there is to Indy gear...

but of course I respect peoples different opinion, you just have to respect mine...

Okay, seriously, how much does a Nowak LC cost, because I'm really feeling the urge right now.

Sorry Holt you are off there. With the LC the distressing is key in it's identity, and that distressing is the main reason people think the Kurtz jacket is an LC. It holds for the LC jacket more than any other I-J jacket.
You are just biased of jacket distressing.

The same does not apply to the Fedora at all. In fact for most people a Fedora just has to be a brown Fedora and they see Indiana Jones, dust, taper, etc they don't see.

When you study the other details as you have your perspective changes slightly. Think back and look through virgin eyes.

Same as the CS jacket unless you choose a higher priced leather. 'Happy Cow' would be great for a LC jacket as well.

I understand what you mean.

but dont get me wrong. I love the way the LC distress look. I just dont want it on my jacket. I want break it in and let it age on its own.

I love the LC jacket, esp those pockets. But I NEVER liked the fake-looking distressing. In many shots in the film it looks like a guy applied sandpaper to the seams and just went crazy. But I'm like Holt, I prefer the natural and gradual wear.

The LC jacket has many distinguishing features to the discerning eye. But the thing that catches most people's eye right off is the unique distressing. Is it natural looking? Not at all. Like CM said, it looks like someone attacked it with sandpaper (which is what exactly happened, I suppose). If you don't like the distressing and want it to age naturally, then you'll have a jacket with some great features to it. But, if you want it to look completely SA then you need the distressing. I don't think this applies to the other jackets as the distressing on them was more natural looking, more "random". The LC's distressing calls attention to itself and, thus, is needed if you're going for a total SA look.

In the case of my jacket, while I used to not like the LC distressing, it really grew on me over time, plus I thought the look differentiated it more from my CS jacket.

Of course, if we're being totally honest here, most people wouldn't notice any differences between the four jackets with a casual glance anyway. ;)

Well put, Crismans. My girlfriend says there is only one jacket and we're all crazy... I love the cut of the LC jacket and these new TN's are masterworks and his distressing is the best I have seen. I'd like one in goat. But I really want one of his Surrogates jackets... I'm going to have to rob a bank...

Yeah, man! That jacket is crazy awesome! I can't believe what fine work Tony does. He is a god among men, and a Titan among Jacket-makers.
