Well, if the LE Wings were made from the same production run, but the current Nowak CS's are not....then I would assume the LE's would be alot more valuable, no?.....(if that being the case, the Nowak CS's shouldn't cost no where near what Tony is charging).

Why would you expect the Wings to be more valuable? One is the actual cut, the identical pattern, the other is a replica. The Wings leather is the same run as the movie... but at the same time, the shades of leather within the film and jackets made for it differed wildly. And more importantly, it's not as if the Nowak CS leather is inaccurate at all -- or from a different source -- it's just not from that run.

I think the premium being paid with Tony's jackets is due to the fact that he is a well regarded artist. You will pay for his work.

Try getting a custom jacket from other movie jacket makers like Bates Leather, Lewis Leathers, Eastman Leather Co., Vanson, Jonathan A. Logan, et al. I think you will find that Tony's price are comparable if not LESS then the others.

Lewis Leathers alone charges almost TWICE the Indy I price for one of their cow jackets. It's insane.

Yeah you're right. It's not so much the leather, it's the workmanship. My Nowak CS is about as bullet-proof as you can get. When I compare some of my older Westeds to the Nowak, it's like comparing McDonald's to Wolfgang Puck.

Well, I called US Wings earlier today regarding the ETA of some medium long A2-2000s; the nice lady on the phone mentioned that they have three in production that should be at their retail location this week! They've taken down my details and will call once they've put one "on hold" for me.

Yes, the sale price ($235) is honored at the store, so by driving down there, I'll save $20 shipping.

The 'thing' about the LE was the provenance of the leather. It was a limited amount of leather left over from the CS order, purchased by Wings, and really special only to the 'hard core' gearhead who wanted a jacket made from the actual CS leather run used by TN to make the film used CS jackets.

As stated, you're paying for a completely different set of reasons regarding the TN jacket as compared to the Wings LE, and has alreayd been stated much better than I could repeat. ;-)

f I were to buy a cow leather jacket from US Wings, either an A-2 or Indy, which cowhide would you suggest? distressed or not

Well, US Wings left me a message today telling me that the medium long jackets that were under construction earlier this week had finally arrived and that one had been set aside for me. So, I decided to grab the GPS and take an extra-long late lunch break to pick it up.

While there, I handled the vintage cowhide and it is a beautiful thing, very soft and supple. However, finances dictate an upper limit to my splurge, so I left with my goatskin A2-2000, which is a dark brown with distinct grain. The leather is a bit thicker and stiffer than the vintage cowhide, but still quite nice. It should break in well. Length and fit are just right.





I'm very happy. Should I apply Pecard's immediately or just enjoy the shiny finish that's been applied for the time being?

Now I just need to figure out what to do with the $10 gift card they gave me. I probably shouldn't go buy another jacket! ;-)

Then I'll just leave it alone. When it starts to look a bit "dry" after a bit of wear, I'll apply some.

That depends entirely on you and the conditions you have to wear it in. If in a lot of wet/damp conditions, you'll probably want to consider doing something right now. If dry conditions with little to no rain, probably once a year (if at all).

Is there a particular type for goatskin?
What happens to your jacket when you put it on.. does it get shiny, does it smell diffferent, does it feel different etc?
