yes its a pity about the distance
it would be great fun to all pitch in someting. have a bbq maybe a few cocktails.

Darth, FFL is federal firearms license. In simple terms a gun dealer.

To own a handgun you don't need to have an FFL but depending on the state, county, town, city you live in there are different restrictions on owning a handgun or what permit you may need. The laws in Georgia will be different from those in California and the laws in Atlanta might be different from those in Athens.

Look in the phone book and visit a local gun shop. They should be able to tell you the local laws, etc. When you do buy a gun and have it shipped to an FFL, they usually charge a few bucks for their service. Most of the time it should be a simple process. Visit a few shops and they may hook you up with someone they know who collects and might have what you're looking for!

All you need is the gun - condition isn't so important.

Well, "getting" an FFL requires lots of paperwork and long processing times from the federal government. However, most gun shops
will allow you to utilize their existing FFL (Federal Firearms License) for a fee usually less than $50. If you intend on collecting vintage firearms, then you caould also apply for the C&R (Curio and Relic) style FFL.

You'll also need to check with the gun shop to see is there are any additional things you need to do such as getting a "permit to buy" from your local PD/Law Enforcement Center.

If the pistol chambers a modern round (9mm, .45, etc.) you likely will need a permit to buy at the very least. If it's an obsolete round, you may be able to purchase it as a curio, without an additional firearm license.

This is probably one of the nicest Webley WG with the bird's head grip, like Indy used in the 3rd and 4th movies, that you'll ever find.

I've noticed that a lot of companies had there names engraved into the barrell of their guns. That would be a cool feature to add to a replica, only make it your own.

I've got the money to pay for it, but I really can't justify it. I mean, you can't leave it out. I'd get it and put it in my gun safe, so what is the point? A good replica would be more than fine for me.

Agreed Homer, I'd rather have something my family, friends and I could handle often without worry of damage or theft. That Webley is nothing but an investment to put away.

I just bought myself a Webley WG which is missing the grips and cylinder. I'm going to pick up some reproduction grips and cylinder (resin or metal). I really don't care if it could ever fire a bullet even though that would be a blast. hehe pun I think I'll probably clean it up and re-blue it myself with something like Blue Wonder. It's coming from England and hopefully everything goes smoothly between them and the FFL I use.

i stumbled upon a vintage gunshop in a town called cumming which is north of where i live.
i walk in the door and there in the case i see the very gun we seek with the bird head grip and all!
and just as the angelic choir that is playing in background is about to reach a crescendo.... i ask how much?
sold was the answer.
the guy who runs the shop had 2 more webleys but they were smaller than the 455
looked about the same mind you but smaller.
i baught a nagant to play around with cuz it was so cheap. But have not had the kind of time needed to really take it apart and play with it.
that is where we stand.
i would still love to do this but if i do all the work than it will not be in the spirit of what i had hoped this project would be about. and i will sell it at a profit.
however if a core group wanted to form wherein we all choose a piece of the gun to locate than we could move forward and once the run is complete we would all get a set of parts plus our original piece so that when assembled each of our guns would contain one real vintage part.
anyone on board?

I personally own the following Indy guns. S&W 1917, Webley WG, Browning Hi-Power, Colt Official Police, Remington 1875, Walther PPK, Walther P38, Norinco Tokarev. (Check out my Avatar. Those are all photos of my actual Indy guns.)

My goal is to eventually own a copy of every handgun used in all the movies. Presently I'm looking for the Webley MKIII, S&W 32 Safety, S&W model 10 w/3" barrel, Colt M1911, Inglis Hi-Power, Mauser "Broomhandle", and a Mauser P08.

I have made many posts throughout this forum describing in detail most all of the Indy guns mentioned above, so you should not have any trouble finding the details you need here at this forum for your project. Unfortunately I'm on the West coast, otherwise I may have been able to help in your project directly. If you have any specific questions about any of the guns just drop me a line and I'll help the best I can.

Your project is quite formidable. A handgun is comprised of many parts with very tight tolerances. I'm not sure if any sort of molding process will give you parts that will fit together as needed. That's why real guns are machined. Of course you won't need any of the internal working parts, but even the larger main external parts will need to fit together with very tight tolerances. Then you may also face some very strict legal ramifications. The BATFE has strict laws regarding the manufacture of anything that even resembles a real firearm, especially if it's made with metal and has a "possibility" to be converted into a real firearm. I applaud you for considering this project but in reality it may be a lot more difficult than it appears on the surface.
