Not to toot my own horn  , but if I'm not mistaken, I brought that site to the attention of the Gear community a while back:

Since I purchased my S&W .455 HE, I haven't been back to Bob Adams' site, but I can certainly relay that he is a fine businessman, selling high-quality products at a good price, and an absolute pleasure with whom to do business. :D

SPECIAL POSTSCRIPT:
I made my edits to the original above post in this thread. Please read!

Since I'm in California, I went through a dealer to get the gun over to Jack. I should have said that, but I my assumption it was only a California law and it wouldn't apply nationally. Well it does. So Jack informed me, that all the mods have to go through a dealer and then to Jack. I thought it was only California law, which means our national gun laws have really become too strict. This is riduculous. If you are upset, we should all take the time to write our congressional representative.

Sergei, thanks for the tip about Jack Devore! I just finished talking with him, and I'll be sending my 1917 to him shortly to have the barrel cut and sight reinstalled. He's also going to ream the chambers so I can fire anything from the original .45 ACP to .45 Colt!

I heard from the gunsmith I spoke to, Tip, that modification could be done. That's pretty interesting.

Sergei,

Do you have (or is there a way to make) some photos showing the top and front
view of the modified front sight that you can email to me?

Also -- was the sight completely custom made or did the gunsmith start with a
pre-manufactured sight and then alter it? And if so, what brand/model of sight
did he use?

I would greatly appreciate the info.

Thanks very much,

Troy

I found a pair of almost brand new looking vintage diamond checkered grips at a local gunshop for $25, but the dealer said they are for a K frame... I currently have a real-live HE being converted by Mr DeVore, and am looking for a back-up set of grips... would these grips fit an N frame HE2??

Nope. The K (small) frame is quite a bit smaller than the N (large) frame of the HE2. If you search around "that auction site" you can probably find a few pairs of vintage HE grips. However, I'll warn you that a set in good shape can go for over $100.
