Michaelson - That is hilarious. Thanks for the confirmation about how profs dress. I wonder if Indy's lack of style comes from the fact he is single and in desparate need of some help buying clothes. I also wonder if the costume was supposed to look horrible or if the costume designer thought he looked quite snappy. Afterall one of the original ideas for Indy is that he was supposed to be quite the playboy.

I didn't hate CS the movie, I thought it was okay... but I'd have to say the costuming in it was terrrible. Everythign Ford wore looked second rate, as did the outfits of the other characters. They overthought the wardrobe and made bad choices in terms of colours, fabrics and cut. Some of "Marions" clothing was especially shocking.
I think it's ironic that although Ford's costume was meant to be strong and built for real life, it never looked more phoney...

Indiana Jones was not supposed to look like he did in the 30’s. I understand that he was passed his prime and was not supposed to look like “Ricky Ricardo”. But he didn’t need to look lackluster either. How many shades of brown can one guy wear? To be honest though, I didn’t care for his Professor look in LC either. Have to admit that they got the “Mutt” look right at the end with the wedding. That’s about what I would imagine a “greaser” to be wearing at a wedding.
But Indiana Jones has looked sloppy since LC, sorry. In this movie though, they committed the cardinal sin of no color contrast between the hat and the jacket. I guess in his older age Indiana went colorblind.

Wow men, there are several conflicting opinions, here. but thank's anyway.
So, if I'm not mistaken, the Novak is really expensive. No way, I'm not used to spend a lot for clothes. I think I'd go for a Wested, considering that I really need a made to measure jacket. Leather jackets usually are cut for slim bodies, and I'm no slim!
I looked on the wested site. Raiders jackets seem to be cut slim, this way:
| | or \ /
while LC looks like to me more:
( )
I know they are custom made, but who knows.
The goatskin Raiders looks like to me to be too much dark, almost black, while the lambskin version seems to be more SA. and what the #### is Novapelle?
I feel disoriented...goatskin, lambskin, cowhide, I really can't state the difference by looking at the photos.
Oh well, I guess it's not a problem, right now. I don't think I will get a jacket too soon, I'm going to buy my AB Henry first.

Ah no, I already have two leather jackets with a heavy liner that are good for cold winters...If I'm going to buy a new one, it will be suited for autumn and spring.Indiana Strones wrote:Novapelle is an antique finish cowhide. Beautiful, very soft, but heavy and not exactly SA. ;-)
cowhide, lambskin, goatskin: differences between these 3? which one(s) were used for the jackets of the movies?

I'm definitely going for a custom made. I'm not only a bit fat, but I'm not tall, too. 168 centimeters. I can't go for a standard size. a XXL, for example, would fit me, but woul be way too long and so on.Kt Templar wrote: Ahem,.... actually Wings are more... 'robustly cut'. But of course you can get Westeds custom made.
standard sizes are for standard bodies, proportioned bodies. tall and big, short and slim... a standard size would never fit me well, and a leather jacket it's not like a T-shirt, anyway.
BTW, I was talking about comparing Wested LC whit Wested Raiders. In the photos shown on Wested's site, it seems to me that the Raiders model is tendentially "slimmer".

There really isn't a lot in it, as long as you don't ask for 80's cut.
From my own experience, the straps on the LC/CS are slightly lower and the back/side v opening is smaller. So on the Raiders you end up with an effect a bit like a suit jacket with side vents. So it's slightly more flattering if you have a bigger posterior.
Looks like you will need to send a pic plus height chest and waist, stomach butt type measures to really give them an idea.
They can do it, you'll notice that Peter's one fits him very well (naturally) and he will be the first to admit to not having a Brad Pitt like physique. .

Where did you get $1000 on the Nowak jacket? Is that for a Indy I jacket? I was just quoted $675 for an Indy IV jacket. I'm new here and have just started ordering my Indy gear.Canada Jones wrote:- Price - How much is your budget is the first question. If you have the money do you feel a $1000 Nowak jacket is twice as good as excellent G&B or the original Wested Jacket?

The Indy I jacket is more expensive than the other Nowak jackets based solely on the shrunken lamb used on that particular jacket. It's a hard to find hide which matches the original Raiders jacket Tony was given to reproduce. That said, if you read some of the Nowak threads, Tony is looking for an alternate leather for those who want a less expensive Indy I...
Aww, I was going to tell him $675 for "screen accurate." $1000 for "screen used."binkmeisterRick wrote:The Indy I jacket is more expensive than the other Nowak jackets based solely on the shrunken lamb used on that particular jacket. Which jacket did you get? I'm ready to order and just made my first call to Tony today. He wants me to get him some pictures with me wearing a jacket. I don't have a leather jackets so I'm going to Macy's to get some pictures of me in one.Shishak wrote: Tony Nowak - This is the most recent jacket that I've purchased, and hopefully, the last. As far as I'm concerned, my search for the ultimate Indy jacket ended with my TN. The leather is like no other that I have ever handled on any Indy jacket. Including the LE Wings. I don't know if he did something special to it himself, but it is the softest cowhide I've ever felt. The lining is like no other that I've felt either. I can't even begin to describe how comfortable this jacket was right out of the box. It was made to my measurements, and it just fits like MY jacket. It's a hard thing to explain unless you've experienced it yourself. The quality and workmanship on this jacket really show. I love the look of this jacket too. Not only the pattern, but the distressing that Tony does to it as well. The funny thing about this jacket is that the pattern is exactly the same as the Paramount Cooper that I have. Tony is fantastic to work with, and I've never had a more personal experience with a vendor. He really seemed to care about me and getting me the exact jacket that I wanted. He did just that. This jacket is worth every penny when you consider that not only are you getting a jacket of the finest quality, craftsmanship, materials, and construction, but also custom made.

If you read the quote carefully you see he mentions cowhide. This is significant because, for the moment at least, he only offers the Indy IV jacket in cowhide. ;-)lantzn wrote:Which jacket did you get? But regardless of which jacket it is, the praise on the materials, construction, craftmanship and good-guy-ness of Tony is a recurring theme in posts of people who bought his jackets. I know you will be pleased with it.

I saw the cowhide mentioned, but had read recently in another thread that there were a couple different color cowhides offered. The poster saw Tony at an event and took pictures of 6 of his jackets, some ROTLA and some CS. I'm new to all this.

I know you are, and it can be somewhat confusing if you are new here and I'm sorry if I, unintentionally, sounded a little rude or impatient. I was just using a bit of my own strange blend of humor which apparently isn't funny at all at times
The post you saw with the 6 jackets was taken at the QM summit (last week). Tony took some jackets there to show the leather he is going to offer on his Indy I jacket (At least, that's what I think it was all about). As far as I know the Indy I jacket has, to this point, only been ordered in the schrunken lamb, so anny posts from before today that's about a TN jacket made out of cowhide is about the Indy IV jacket.
I hope this clears-up some of the confusion and if you ever have any other questions, just ask 'm, and someone here will answer or direct you to an answer.

Re: Best Indy's Jacket?
i own several jackets, among them is a TN CS, very accurate and strong jacket, very well made, a nova pelle CS wested, i think peters got the right material for the CS. as tony has the accuracy of design, to my eye any way, two todd standards, XL, XXL the jacket is made of thin but very tough lamb, to my eyes it is the most screen accurate raiders jacket i own, although i agree that wested has a very unique look, when i watch raiders i see a very thin jacket that to me looks in every way just like the tods standard i do not know if i want to pick a g & b or a TN raiders jacket for my next insane spending spree they both seem like winners
