I just finished watching Raiders for the umphteenth time and I noticed something interesting. I can't make screencaps, so I'll just tell you guys where too look.
when Indy is on the roof at Sallah's place and they are talking about the dig, right after Sallah says "we call him Bellosh" you see Indy laughing. When Indy laughs he tilts his head forward, which causes the sunlight to hit the button on his right shoulder, and right there it turns olive green!
I've gone back an forth over this little bit of the movie a dozen times, frame by frame, and it keeps looking olive green when the sun hits it, only to revert to the greish tan when it is covered by the shadow of his head.
It may not be interesting to you, but I thougt I should post this.
Regards, Geert
Gwyddion, I am with you on that.
Initially, I was also of the idea that the Raiders, ToD, LC outfit were different colours(maybe they were slightly different shades of the same colour)...However, after this last revelation of the actual Raiders clothes(as I stated on this thread above) I am starting to believe that when Raiders was shot, the film used, absorbed differently the colours of the outfit...
Let me give an example... The new Fuji or Nikon cameras give you now the option of taking a picture by simulating different types of film e.g. Standard, Provia etc. I can say from what I saw from actual pics that the colours were indeed different than in reality. Just take a look above my pic shot with an old cybershot how do my olive buttons look grey. Just my opinion on this!
I've said ages ago that the colour of the buttons in raiders were darker than what people thought (no one followed of course ) but I'm happy we finally got some confermation... still... if the shirt is really a raiders shirt. You people got me convinced too now, good job
Yeah because it would mean I actually touched (and nearly tried on) an actual Raiders shirt, the part of gear I've most been interested in after the hat!

I guess I should ask KT (kt stand up please), but why can't Wested just buy and sell the stuff from whoever was making them for Noel? Trash the previous model (sorry for who loose their jobs) and keep selling the ones produced for Noel, no?
Here is the thing (you can find the tailor's name if you search enough here) but Noel was so fastidious in his attention to detail (probably a bad turn of phrase there). You'd have had to met Noel to understand but it extended to everything he did - his goal (from what I can tell) was always "perfection first time around".
You might find someone who can "copy" the NH clothes but I guarantee they won't be as "right" as the MBA/NH clothes that Noel had produced.
(I know there were some variations over the history of MBA/NH, but the consistency of the accuracy was pretty fantastic.)
My fondest story of that detail is that my pants' tag says "N.H. London" but the size, written in permanent ink via a stencil, says "GWW" (my initials). He sent me email copies of every invoice to pay, sent me copies of my measurements, etc.
Comparing the screen used clothes to the NH clothes, he had a very good construction/stitch/pattern detail, but also had really nailed finding the closest material in color, texture, weave, everything.
(edit) I could not find the pictures - I apologise for the red herring (don't know if Peter/KT had a chance to take an in-camera comparison shot. I have a clear image in my mind of the trousers laying across each other, but I think because when I asked if I could take pictures of the jacket, Noel had said he would prefer that I didn't, and I was also a bit overwhelmed at running my grubby hands over some very delicate screen used gear, that I just didn't whip the camera out.
But regardless, viewing the INSIDE of a NH pair of custom trousers would make you realize that not only are they screen accurate, but that they are also period correct (fly, pocket, waist lining etc.)
Disclaimer: my mother is a seamstress/designer, so I only know barely enough to be dangerous.

That is not beyond the realms of possibility.
Yello - "Oh Yeah" song starting
that also means that we will have "Noel Howard" Trousers with a more accurate back pocket doesn't it? When I talked to him he said he would have corrected them but well... unfortunately he never had time
Funny thing is, the boxes from Noel's flat had some really old looking patterns in there including the pants and shirt. The pants pocket was the old pointy type.

The box just says 'Indy Stuff' on it.
and the samples are quite clearly marked. Quite a lot of buttons in there. The dark buttons are the flat top concave version.
