I'm really happy that people seem to like exploring the idea - especially you giving it some thought, Marc - but as has already been implied: let's everybody keep their noses clean and not get ourselves into trouble...
Even if an idea is a good one and even if folks like it, doesn't mean it's an idea that gets realized.

I'll definitely be keeping an eye on THIS thread to see what develops... but I'm sure nobody wants a Hatband that gets anyone's toes "stepped on"... if that makes sense...

Well, just to make one last observation.....why have a forum connection at all? Just work with the community, create the hat, place it in the AB inventory (as mentioned in my first post in this thread

) and let the orders fly?

For example, that's how the Expedition jacket and Federation hat line was created.... through work in conjuction with forum members, and there has never been an 'official Indygear/Indyfan' connection with any of those products.

Just a thought.

All I can say is wow! You and Steve are really hat artists to the extreme and Steve will be so missed when he retires. I hope though that you will be making hats for many many years to come because I really feel the quality and work you put into each hat is far superior to anything else out there...

I will be ordering an AB Deluxe and a Kaplan Junior soon, if the wait is long I don't mind because I know in the end I'm getting 2 of the finest hats out there and they will last a lifetime!

Michaelson, I'm still pretty new to these boards... so, I'm not sure if you've heard this before (and I'm not just sucking-up... I'll TELL you when I'm sucking up...)

i was thinking that we could have pins made to stick on our hatbands. kind of like the ones on the dorfmans... only not saying indy or cow. it could be something more abstract not infringing on any copyright. something original and designed by one of the many gifted people lurking these parts. that way you could keep your SA ribbons and still pick out fellows members... plus it would be a little bit cheaper than a whole new hat or the fuss of changing a ribbon. but this is probably too close to the forbidden coins... just an idea.

Outstanding work my friend! Still very Indy looking, but with some added flair that would set it apart from the regular Indy fedora. I think the brim dimensions are perfect for this hat as well.

I would like to join in with the many others in saying to Marc: That is one beautiful hat. Just yesterday, I was in JJ Hat Center in Manhattan. While the store offers many nice hats, none were as eye-catching as anything Marc or Fedora produces. My compliments.

Well, I don't think that Lucas can own the rights to the word Raider, singular not plural. You can use a name like the Official Raider Fedora, or something like that. Maybe that would be too close for comfort. I don't know. Just something to think about. Just don't think too hard. Maybe the Last Temple Raider, or something.

That lid looks super velvety, especially in that second shot. Nice how the light plays off of the nap of the felt. It looks even better in sun light.

How about a name that evokes all 4 films, like "Raiders of the Temple's Last Skull?" Or a name that rhymes, like "Crusader Raider?" After all, the original hat was a Poet...

Seriously, I agree the name should be simple-- maybe something like "The Idol", or "The Hero." I also like "The Archaeologist." They are safe choices that would avoid any possibility of infringement. But it's a great looking hat, whatever you decide to call it.

I still think the best idea mentioned from the start is to name it after the bride for whose wedding the hat was made for. That way, there's no risk whatsoever of legal questions regarding IndyGear and/or LFL, and the folks here, there, and everywhere can enjoy a unique and beautiful hat.

Her name is Solvej. However the hat is actually a grey Kaplan jr. (Raiders block with a CS creasing and a classic bow design - just the bound brim is missing), so it has a name already.
