Left to right, we have a very early Strain; then another Strain but more modern; third a brand new Strain made last June; an old Morgan from the eighties; a Morgan made in 2000, and one of my own (del Carpio Raiders) made a couple of months ago.

Hey Michael,

Is that the Raiders Style Bullwhip or the Standard Production Indy Bullwhip by Joe??

In years to come I might have to add one of his whips to my collection!!

Thanks,

Andy

Does anyone know where there's a good picture of the whip in the bottom right corner with that picture of Harrison Ford in Temple of Doom?

I have a David Morgan 10 Foot Bullwhip from 1989 that has darkened up nicely with age.

I will post up some pictures.

Hi Guys,

I don't make it into the Whip section that often, so I apologise in advance. I see a few screen shots from Raiders have been posted, and some screen used whip photos have been posted. I was hoping someone might be able to email me whip screen shots from the first three Indy films, along with photos of any screen used whips from the first three films. I know it's a big ask, but if anyone would like to help me out with these pictures, if you could please drop me a pm.

One of these days I will eventually get the funds to buy my first whip, but like with my prop collection, I like to study as many pictures as I can for all the fine details.

Any help would be gratefully appreciated!

Regards,

Andy

While we're on the subject, here's what a David Morgan looks like after a decade. I received my #453 bullwhip exactly ten years ago this week, and she's a beauty. :whip:

Whipwarrior, your Morgan looks as good as the last time I saw it when we got together at Indydawg's place! Beautiful!

Michael, I have an 8 ft Strain and really like those blue crackers on yours. Where'd you get 'em?

Gosh, that was ages ago! March 2003, if memory serves me correctly. I still have it on 8mm tape, if I ever get around to converting it to DVD so that I can actually watch it again! Yep, that whip was my third (and last) Morgan, and he made it spec-on to my requests. The plaiting is nearly glass-smooth until the last couple feet, where the tapering braids become 'nubbly' due to thickness, but it cracks beautifully, and looks great coiled on my belt. :whip:

If you do want blue crackers ( nylon ) go to midwest whips, go to the whip accessories link, and you can special order blue

cracker thread. Their prices has risen on cracker thread since I last checked but it's still a million times cheaper than buying the

crackers premade.

I have since used up my original Joe Strain crackers so I hadn't realized those were the black ones.

Just a personal preference but I like the blue look to them so thank you, riku, I will check out midwest. :whip:

@ Michaelson.

I apologise for posting too many pictures. As you know, I am new here and still finding my feet and I have only just figured out how to post pictures. After a lot of trial and error I managed to do it and totally forgot about your rules.

Sorry if I put you to any trouble or offended you in any way, I just wanted people to see these pictures after they had been asking for them.

I love seeing the natural color change! So helpful. I used to own a Jrzjoe whip a few years back as a quick and cheap option, and man was it cheap. Cracked ok, but had to re-weave it a few times myself to keep it from unraveling. I just ordered a Todd's natural tan, I know it is not one of the real whip makers whips, but everyone seems to love them for screen accuracy and their price more than actual use. I'll take pictures of how this ages when I get it so we'll have an idea of Todd's whips. :whip:

Steamshovel,

Todd's whips look great once they're broken in. Cowhide generally doesn't darken as easily as roo, so you'll need lots more conditioner, sun, use, and patience. :TOH:

Here are my David Morgans both made in the 90's. One is a 12ft, 12 plait and the other is a 16plait, 8ft from David's "performer" series.

BEAUTIFUL whips, Redburn, especially the 16-plait DM Classic bullwhip. Last summer I had JM whips make a copy of that design because I'd always wanted one since the 90's. Several years ago, a few of them sold on eBay for exorbitant amounts of money, due to the craftsmanship and rarity of these whips. You have a real treasure there! Hang onto it! :whip:
