Mine's a vintage Dobb's from the 60s. It's one of my favorite hats! And guess what - another one of my favorites is a ball cap!! What a heathen I must be...

Shane, I just don't personally like them because I don't want to be called a Justin Timberlake look-a-like! Regular sized fedoras look the best IMO....but it is just my opinion.

They don't work nearly as well. A broad brim keeps the sun out of your eyes and the rain off your face. The true stingy brim does neither. And a 2-inch brim might help, but performs neither function very well. However, all keep the head warm, so that's some consolation.

I really don't like Stingy's but they do have a unique quality....goin to JJ soon to pick up a hat jack and probably a nice straw hat.

I never understood why some men wear Baseball caps with suits, its really a bizzare look. im no fashion expert, but it doesn't work for me, and looks weird. I can accept any style of hat, weather its a stingy, or broad brim fedora, or a poor boy or even a bowler, with a suit or dress attire, but a Baseball cap? I believe people should wear a fedora they look good in, for some a big broad brim and tall untapered crown doesnt work. Thats what makes fedoras great, you can get one made for you (or tweak your factory) so that it looks good on you, feels good on your head, and its got its own personality. Thats something baseball caps can't do.

As for preference, it really like the broad brims more. They look better on me, and they serve more functions, keeping the sun, rain, and anything else off my head.

I'd love to see the fedora come back around, but not too much, i like it as a small niche, makes it a unique hobby. Plus good quality never goes down in price, just more cheap imitations come out.

Also, there are several local bands back home where the guitarists wear fedoras, no drummers. In fact youd be lucky to find a shirt on a drummer let alone a hat. Drummers are weird. LOL.

Baseball caps are "unsuitable" in just so many ways... ears & neck get sunburned, holes let rain get in, makes a bigger mess of hair than any fedora does, tight and hot in warm weather. Fedora dorky? NO WAY! No Baseball caps -- unless on a baseball team; NO flip-flops -- unless at the beach. Just say NO! Unless under the age of sweet 16. To update that tired old expression: "Don't trust anyone over 30" I say "Don't pay attention to anyone under 40."

By my observations, and ebay selling prices, wide brimmed fedoras are in much more demand...at least people are willing to pay quite a bit more than for the stingy brimmed ones. Could also be a factor of supply and demand...perhaps the supply of wide brimmed fedoras is just that much less...
