Raiders bag strap has no grooves, or does it??

Bags, Boots, Shirts and all other gear should be discussed here.

I'm willing to bet that just like the Wells=Lamont gloves that they sent back to Western Costume to have replicated that they did the same thing with the bag straps.

I have no doubt that some bag straps were off the rack rifle slings (with grooves) and then some were replicated to give them the quantity they needed for Ford and his doubles and all the various filming locations.

I've bought new unissues rifle slings w/ grooves, and gee, sometimes w/ use the grooves fade or lessen, or just plain disappear as the edge of the strap gets ground back or rounds out. And I agree, it seems obvious they'd start w/ existing straps, probably rifle straps, for the first movie and went on from there.

Later movies, who knows if they just got more/different/same ones or made them, but it was probably a rifle strap initially, and from experience they sometimes keep their ridges and sometimes don't, and sometimes someone forgets to ridge a batch of them.

So everybody's right. Yay, log off and get some sleep. ;)

P.S. Looking back, I forgot we have someone volunteering info that they made the straps. Okay, I'm fine being wrong. ;) Still hard to believe they didn't start w/ existing straps in addition to the ones he was making.

P.P.S. I see the hint of grooves in all those pics. The groove, if it's there, is just too darn small to say you conclusively see or not until it's going to be relatively close to the camera, so you have more resolution on it. Gosh, yes, we have been talking about this for a long time, haven't we? I remember reading this entire conversation verbatim before I registered four years ago. :O

Please remember that this groovy thing we are all worked up over is called a "CREASED" edge. I have a number of Osborne leather edge creasers on my workbench. Which size of edge creaser is it? Number 4, or a number 5? Oh, and was the Raiders holster made with a single edge crease or a double edged crease? I've got a couple of these creasers as well. Please! I hope you can laugh just a little at this!

There is no point.

Sorry I even brought it up.

Hmm...still easier to call it a 'groovy' thing than a 'creasey' thing... ;)
