25"? Very good. That's the bench mark I'll go by to check my VIP.

Thanks!

I'm starting to feel a little bad for those who bought one of these USW limited editions only to find out that when the return them for a better size USW has ran out.

Still, it can't be that hard for USW to get the same type of leather from the same source. Of course, it won't have the same pedigree as the film-used stock.

Mine is due to arrive tomorrow, but sadly no-one will be in! hopefully the folks next door will be in and take mercy on me! All this talk of sizing is making me nervous though, I ordered the XXL as I wanted to be able to wear it over a sweater in the winter and have a looser fit and my Wested 48" is a bit snug for that.

Still, I'm sure I can find it a good home if it's not right for me!

WOW!!!! I'm going to be very upset. :( :( :( :( :(

I wanted to order a Medium, since I have a 42" chest, but Sgt. Hack talked me into a Large. I'll probably have a Large for trade for a Medium, or for sale, or for return. I'll also have a real bad taste in my mouth for USW. :x :x :x :x :x :x

I won't know untill the 23rd.

Very Concerned

OK, I've checked my measurements again.

This time, I made sure the jacket was properly zipped and flattened completely before measuring.

Here's a couple of photos so you can see where I'm measuring:

Image

So in the photo above I get 25" if I measure in this location and flatten the jacket completely.

Image

Here I still get 19".

If I'm measuring in the wrong places, feel free to let me know.

Now my chest is no where near 50", but the jacket doesn't feel too bulky. I've got room in there for sure, but it gives me mobility whip cracking and some extra space to stash small artifacts. :D

From the discussion here, it sounds like a medium would have fit, but when ordering I was worried about it being too snug.

So one question - is the only difference between the medium and large sizes the chest size? That is, are the sleeve lengths and neck-to-waist lengths the same on both? Because I would not want to go smaller with either of those dimensions - they feel very good as-is on the large.

This has indeed been a learning experience, thanks to everyone for helping me learn more about the grand world of Indy jackets.

well it is in fact the same leather used for all the 30 jackets made for KOTCS.

the only thing that is different between the CS jacket and the US wings jacket is that the USW made the Indy adventurer withthe same leather as CS but with their own standard adventurer patterns.

and remember that picture of Indy you provided with the link was taken outside.it's a totally different lighting on the jacket.

look at this picture

Like they said, regardless of how it looks from photo to photo, this IS the same batch of leather the jackets were made from for the film.

I still think we should put the words "Screen Accurate" in our word filter like any other 4-letter word...

It's "leather accurate" - not "screen accurate" - since the patterns are tweaked slightly from their ToD days. But I'm seriously thinking of getting snaps on the flap added to mine, and that will be close enough for me. :)

I'm still gonna get pictures tomorrow hopefully taken of mine.

Anyway, wasn't there a photo on one of the threads that showed a wardrobe full of Indy IV jackets, and they had quite a variation going on in color? I wouldn't be surprised if the reason these jackets don't look "accurate" is simply because the leather isn't uniform to begin with...

No i think the color is fine, this is more what i was trying to say

"It's "leather accurate" - not 'screen accurate' "

The wings just looks too bulky and thick

I believe rick5150 posted that photo. Agreed on the non uniformity of the hide. Even David mentioned that when they got the batch in.

So in the photo above I get 25" if I measure in this location and flatten the jacket completely.
You are measuring to the correct place Vindy!!

Your jacket is indeed a true Wings size Large. So you are safe there.

There are other measurements that are different between each size,
such as your Large and Michealsons medium. Thats the way the jackets
are supposed to be.

As you go up in size from small, medium, large, X-large, everything
should go up in size accordingly in order to keep the proportions of the
jacket looking correct.

The sleeve length should get longer as well as getting bigger
around in diameter, the shoulder to shoulder width will get bigger, the
overall length of the body will get longer, and obviously the chest will
get bigger.

Thats why sometimes its hard to get jackets in the 2XL and 3XL sizes
that have one piece backs. The bigger the jacket, the bigger the animal
hide has to be, and in some cases, there aren't too many giant goats and
sheep around to make jackets without sewing extra panels together.

But your jacket is indeed a large, and just about ever measurement you
provided us matches exactly to my size large 6 year old Wings Vintage
Cow Indy jacket.

Well I was watching my DVD of Temple of Doom and the doorbell rang. My US Wings Signature Edition finally got here and I must say it has exceeded my expectations. \:D/ This cowhide is so soft and supple yet it has a toughness about it as well. I also love the pre-distressed coloring and the graininess of the leather. Thank you Sgt. Hack for making these available to us. I took these pics of the jacket right after I took it out of the box. You can see the bottom corners of the zipper area havn't even had time to relax (they are curling out). Somebody wanted to see pics of it on so here you go (just don't pay any attention to that non-Indy gut under there  ) It is a bright sunny day here in Houston so there is a lot of glare. I tried to tone it down. Oh yea - it is a Large.

Measurements for my Large:

Pit to Pit (across the front with the sleeves raised to get it to completely lay flat) = 25"
Sleeve (shoulder seam to cuff) = 25" Correction - 25 1/2" #-o
Yoke across the back = 19"
Yoke seam to the bottom of the back = 19 1/2"
Top of collar to bottom of back = 29"

Well, so far, based on the consistant specs we're seeing on the large jackets folks have received, it sounds to me like the quality control just fine!

Well, thanks to some quick "stuff" selling, I was able to un-cancel my order, and it should be here Wednesday! I just hope that the medium I ordered isn't as big as I suspect it will be...especially after the sleeve length quoted by Michaelson! The sleeves on my 38R Wested are 23.5" long...

Thanks for the kind words, and yes it did make my weekend. I won't disillusion you by posting my profile view. Even this great jacket can't hide everything. Now if my order from Todd's would arrive along with Rook's Webley, and my Paris Pants I will be very happy indeed and ready for May 22.

Got my XXL today! My girlfriend managed to intercept the UPS man at her place of work before he got to our house and found there was no one there... She even carried it back to the house for me on her lunch break. I'm a very lucky guy!

The XXL fits just right, I'll post some specs and pictures tomorrow when the lights better for taking photos. I think it is a lighter colour than some of the pictures I've seen of the movie jacket, but then as other people have said, there were loads of jackets and the leather isn't all going to be exactly the same. Bottom line is, I like it!

Not wanting to miss out on whats looks to be a pretty nice looking jacket, I took a chance and placed an order for a large on their website last night. I called today to follow up, and sure enough, they had a couple larges left, and I have shipping notice in my inbox for delivery on the 22nd!!

Im a 40L, 42 chest, so far Im not too worried about the fit from what Ive read so far, sleeve length should be fine, may be a little on the longish side at 29" for the back measurement, but Im sure Im going to be a very happy camper no matter what come next week.

Cheers Michaelson! I was bit worried too, what with it being non-returnable as I'm in the UK. Everything else went so smoothly, from the Paypal refund for COW members discount (almost exactly the amount of customs I had to pay!), to the impressive speed with which it arrived, that I was waiting for the other shoe to drop. Turns out it was meant to be!

In the ever expanding collection of leather jackets, the other bonus news is that my girlfriend liked it before I even got it on, so I'm not in the dog house for buying yet another one!

Thanks again for the good thoughts. I echo the sentiment from Venkman, I love this group, it's a pleasure and a privilege being a member!

Even if jackets are too big or small, remember with only 90 of them, they're a very special item - you can always offer them for sale here on Club Obi Wan (but of course be nice and be fair in your price). I'm sure there are members here that would buy or exchange jackets in a heartbeat if someone wanted/needed to sell these. Let's keep these special jackets in the "family" here and not get greedy and shooting them off to eBay.

Okay, off soapbox now. :)

If anyone got a small, can you please post the measurements here like others have, please? Pit to pit, back seam, back length and especially the sleeve measurements.
My clearance medium has totally different measurements than Michaelson's Ltd. Edtn. and I'm wondering if I could get away with a small.

Thanks.

just received my limited edit. Indy jacket as well. When I first put it on it felt as though it was made for me.....a perfect fit. I am very happy with this jacket, even my wife didn't have to hesitate once I put it on, and believe me fellas, that means a lot.
The leather is soft, excellent quality. I just can't get over the fit, it really feels custom made.

Hi all! I have a USW Special edition in XL that I've had for a while now. Was wondering if I ordered the right size or not. I'm 6' 200 lbs. Is their anyone else about the same height and weight as I that ordered the same size? If so, how is the fit?
Thanks,

Some pics of you wearing the jacket would be helpful. Just given the numbers, I'd say you've probably got a good size...but, can't see you with it on.

This thread offers some great insights into Wings sizing, too. Good for reference.
