I thought I read a post about your new lambskin jacket being longer in back than in front when the jacket was zipped. I have the same problem with my newcow which I recieved in October. Any way of avoiding this problem when ordering my new authentic lamb?
Thanks in advance,
J-
To be fair, I have to say that my FS had this problem, but to a much lessor degree. This is one of the pics I sent Peter to help illustrate the problem. It also illustrates that I need to change my pizza and ale diet. :(

Has anyone else had this problem with their jackets?

I guess I'm lucky. I dont have the problem with
my wested being higher than the back (when zipped).

would a tailor understand this occurance?

I have to say I have never had this type of problem, but being as thin as I am I never see myself having it, but ya never know. My Wested has always fit me perfect, since I first got it. Since I want a FS, I need to know about the sizing. How do Wested sizes compare to FS sizes?

[quote="MK"] I have sent the jacket back to Peter. I am really picky about the cargo pockets being one inch. Also the jacket is too short. I really hiked up my pants to make it look right in the pictures.[quote]

Well, I guess this explains why we haven't heard about how this new "authentic" lambskin weathers/ages then, huh?
Do you think you'll weather this jacket once its right, or will you keep it clean (and dressy) MK? :D

I don't know. I do like having at least one jacket to look nice. We will have to see.

Looking at the above picutre, I’m wondering if your suits do that as well, or non-lndy jackets. Also, if it looks that way unzipped. But mainly, it just looks to be pulling in too tightly following the curvature of your lower back. I’m sure your physique has something to do with it, but considering it’s custom fit, I should think Peter could work a little more magic. It will be interesting to see exactly what terminology Peter uses to describe this phenomenon.

Why do I feel like I’m viewing a medical illustration pictured in the latest issue of JAMA (Journal of the American Medical Association). :)

MK, how does the jacket collar hang around the neck? One of my Westeds wants to hang toward my back (pulling the front of the jacket up). I'm constantly yanking it down. But I have another Wested that hangs on my neck.

You got a second one? Cool.

Man, My wife isn't gonna be happy. I'd better keep this news to myself for a while. I just got my FS a few months back. Will this ever end?

I had it with my first Wested but then the opposite. The backside of the jacket was way too short and the front was much longer... So that wasn't looking very nice on me but I learned to live with it.
My new Wested fits me superbly.

I have to admit DJ, that I've seen many more people wearing jackets like you described where the back has developed a sort of bowing effect at the middle of the back. Sort of like some button sweaters that start riding up in the back after awhile. Odd!

Deja Vu... My first Westeds were all big in the front and short in the back. Since I have no belly and am skinny - it drove me crazy. The last Wested I recieved from Peter, however, did not have this problem. :D

Yep...Dan (Rick Blaine) was wearing it when you came up in January. It's a goatskin Wested I bought from one of the fans here.

The thicker lambskin doesn't necessarily mean it will be more tear resistant, does it? I figure lamb is lamb is lamb. I'm really thinking about getting one of these for my birthday in a couple of months and the "Tear Factor" really concerns me. So, I'm really curious as to the thickness/tear resistance ratio.

Thanks ahead of time!

Is ten sheets of paper easier to tear than one? Thicker is more resilient. As for Wested's new lamb, I wouldn't be too concerned about tearing or ripping it.

Besides, those Italian lambs are pretty tough. Peter picks ones from a rough part of town and have seen a lot of action.

My new Italian lambskin rides up in the front as well, but not that much MK. You got a bigger gut than me. I think if mine rode up that high, I would have to send it back. Wonder what happened to cause this. My other Westeds never had that problem. Also, since I never wear mine zipped, I can live with it. :) Fedora

Even though MK makes a really good point, I know how you feel about Lambskin, in general, Indiana Joe. I too was debating on whether or not I should buy the authentic-lamb or just go with the Authentic-goat when it arrives just for durability sake because I'm one of them guys who always seems to tear my clothes on something or other, lol. But then again, like MK said, this new lamb may not be too bad afterall....

I just got my package from Wested. Peter remade the jacket. It now has all the details that I asked for. The back seem goes all the way to meet the shoulder. The length is much better. The waist fits. I have gussets AND the pockets are correct.

It strange to say this....but........

......I think I am done buying Indy jackets.

I have best of both worlds. A FS seal chrome goat and a authentic Wested lamb. I feel this battle has been fought. I don't see much room to improve what I have. Sure FS could tweak their color to be a tad better and Wested could adjust their collar a bit.....but for me that is splitting hairs. It is there as far as I am concerned. I am satisfied. I am done.

(now watch there be something new)

I just got my package from Wested this morning too! :) I am rather amazed at the new "authentic" lambskin. Its a great jacket and I am VERY happy. But I must admit, most of why I am so happy is thanks to your efforts MK, to get the Raiders jackets done right. I have benefited from your efforts and Peter's wonderful craftsmanship and I just wanted to say thanks to all of you who have helped. Thanks.

Will we ever see a review on how well the new authentic lamb distresses MK? :P (From the sound of it, I will have to test that myself it seems... :)

Wow! Thanks for the kind words....but there are several guys who have contributed. As for aging the authentic lamb.....Koreana Jones has already done it for us. I posted earlier this week.

My apoloigies to all those that contributed that I did not name, I knew I couldn't name you all or remember all... but thank you! :)

Thanks for the link to the post! I missed that - Very exciting news and an important step for me. :) Sounds like it responds well to the distressing treatments. :) I'll have to put my jacket to that now test now...

Glad you like your new jacket MK. I LOVE mine! :)

You can also see how off they are in the let-her-go shot in the Raven Bar. I think they should be even with the flap....not the zipper. The jacket industry goes with the zipper being the center, but that would look cock-eyed with the flap.

Will these measurements make a difference with a jacket that is always worn open? If the storm flap does not cover the right half of the zipper the distance appears further off from center if it is lined up with the flap. My .02...

We got a chance to handle one of these at Indydawg's a couple of weeks ago and that is a good way to put it. It really does not feel fragile like other lambskin jackets. That's one of things that I really like about Wested's new lambskin. Besides, it looks great!

This new one I just received seems a little thinner. That is just a feeling. I have no idea if it actually is. I don't have the original one to compare it to.

At any rate, you are pretty save ordering by asking for the same thing he made for me.......except you might ask for a smaller collar. Mine looks like a LC......and one other thing,...the arm hole going to the sleeve is very small. Something seemed odd the first time I put it on. at first I thought the chest was too small, but after I smoothed out my bunched up short sleeves, it was ok. The sleeve is big enough. It is just the arm hole is too small. If you are a weight lifter or want to wear a sweater....forget about it. I don't recall that being a problem with the jacket I sent back. It didn't have gussets. I am wondering if that has anything to do with it.

So there are a couple of things to consider when ordering.

Well...I've got one of these on order now. I'm actually glad to be starting over when there are so many great new choices, and especially now that Peter has managed to find a color and leather that he and sticklers like MK are happy with.
I'm psyched! 8)

It's good to have you back here Rabittooth. I was starting to think you were a-wall for good. The color is the best thing about the new Wested jackets. Peter has that nailed. When placed side-by-side with a Flight Suit jackets, it makes the FS look very red.

Thanks! Yeah...I'm back. Just getting my feet wet again...but I should be in full swing again soon. Giving Bernie a try as far as whips...got one on order with him now. :D

I just remembered I still had Koreana Jones's authentic lamb that he bought from Rundquist. It is the same leather as the jacket I returned. My new jacket is slightly thinner. It wasn't my imagination. You can especially tell by comparing the collars. It is still good but I like the first batch better. :?
