Do Magnoli HJ's tend to shrink a lot especially if you don't wear it much (say as a collector's item)?

If I'm a 59 firm/tight fit and a 60 loose... would a 59 be safe or would it eventually shrink to the point that it squeezes?

HJ's? Well, in as much as all hats will shrink a bit. But what I think your asking is, will the sweatband shrink? All of them do, but this is expected. Simply order your actual size and let Steve take care of the rest. Oh, and if your not going to wear it too often, buy a hat-jack to prevent the sweatband from tighting too much. As for the Mags Hj shrinking "a lot"...do you mean like a Todd's or SAB HJ? Then no, they don't because of the way Fedora builds these hats. He works the raw hat bodys for these to combat taper and shrinking that others including Herbert Johnson don't do.

Johnny is exactly right. And also remember that European size hats run a little larger than US sizes (a US 7 1/8 is a size 57 and a European size 7 1/8 is a 58, for example) , so if you just order your normal size, you should get a hat that fits you but has enough room to shrink a little bit. If you send your exact head measurement to Magnoli and Steve, they will know what to do-- trust them!
