Sorry for returning to this old post, but i didn't want to start a new one.
Now we know the Clipper hat was grey, is that for sure that the ribbon was black?
In this hat, which seems to match the felt colour, the ribbon is a sort of dark grey or "gunmetal" which in fact looks black in pictures, but I know it's not.
(Question comes cause I'm gonna replace the 1 1/2 ribbon for a 2" ribbon (is that right for the Clipper, ain't it?), and I couldn't decide between black or dark grey.
If someone "knows things" will be very much appreciated...

Lee Keppler does an Indy Hat in "Clipper Gray". Why not check with him regarding ribbon color and width. I don't think it's a 2-inch ribbon, as that's what the original "Poet" had and was replaced with the narrower ribbon so as to make the crown appear even higher.

I'm here for knowledge, not for business.

(I mean, I'm not a new hatmakers trying to sell my stuff. If anyone had a genuine interest in it, cause maybe couln't get this felt colour, he could contact me, but I insist, I do not try to sell this.
I'm an AB-Wested-Magnoli-Todd's fan and wouldn't try to sell anything at COW, where they rule)

Here, I think it seems to have a wider ribbon. I thought it could be a 2":

I think its just the lighter color body that makes it look different. Ask Mr. Adventurebilt/Fedora since he studied it in great detail. Regards.

But jedi senses
It looks for Diamante de Lagom in Brown

I'm not sure what you mean...

Shall I understand you mean I'm tryig to use your knowledge?
May be right. Anyone who reads Indygear or posts at COW is searching for any particular info which is noy found in other place. This kind of knowledge is only found here. Nowhere else you can ask opinons about a ribbon's width and debate viewpoints like YARVTON's...I think this might interest someone else than me.
But I don't belive I'm using anybody. I'm just asking for opinions.

He referes to Lagomarsino, where I got the felt of this hat, which I stated I wouldn't be selling here (I've made a few brown hats in others forums, which I neither tryied to sell here).
By the way, the "Diamante" comes with a grey ribbon. And people at Lagomarsino say that a dark grey ribbon marries perfectly a grey hat, better than a black one, and that made me doubt if the ribbon on the Clipper hat couldn't have been grey.

Aeris_Canon, if I misunderstood you, I beg you pardon. I respect you as the guy with the supernatural skill for shaping Indy hats.
But I'm still intersted in hearing opinions about the Clipper hat.

Those lighting comparisons are cool, and just goes to show that a lid can look so many different ways depending on wear it was worn. I like that.

and just my two cents, the lids grey, on the plane and on the steps. not even my beaten PB can look that grey. LOL
