Ah ok.

Mmmm, I thought they knew we meant small pockets when we say "Raiders pockets". Maybe you can tell them that that is what we all think. And the Bigger (LC) pockets should be an option only on the Raiders Jackets.

I hope they don't charge you too much.

Yeah, I thoght we'd gone through that with Peter in another thread where he was asking about newer pricing and options.

It seems that I'm gonna be charged for something which wasn't my fault.
Emma wrote today:
"Dear Sir,
I have checked your order, unfortunately you just stated raiders pockets that mean the bigger, we only put smaller pockets on if the customer states. If you wanted to return this we will need to re make a new jacket for you

I have no problem paying 5 pounds for smaller pockets.
Indiana_Tone currently I just told them that I want the same jacket again just with small raiders pockets, rect. sliders. I hope this will do it.

Orb, honestly I don't really know how much they'd charge.

If they are going to remake the jacket that one will go on the rack and they will do you a new one.

I'm slightly perplexed too. I don't know how happy you'd be calling them, but these things are sometimes better resolved over the phone and not waiting for email. Gemma is a nice person to talk to but if she is adamant, ask nicely to talk to Peter and see if he will let it through.

They are in the midst of a big film right now and are buried in all sorts of weird and wonderful skins, it's always good to take an interest in what he's doing. ;)

You seem a good customer this being your second jacket in a short amount of time. Ask if the parts you want (eg rectangular sliders) are in stock. Or it helps to have a check list, Peter can talk the ears of a gundark.

Try to reiterate that we do mean small pockets when we say Raiders, see what he says. People ordering now though make sure you say SMALL until we know better!

I have talked with Gemma & Peter once three weeks ago.
I currently have the problem in understanding what they saying. I can understand what someone has written in english, but understanding live UK english is very hard. They talk so fast
So now I like to communicate via email much more.

Orb,

I think that has very little with you not understanding spoken English as well as a native speaker -- I speak & understand English perfectly well, but when I phoned in my last order, I had a bit of trouble understanding all of her questions to me as well! I think part of it is the phone connection, but I had to ask her to please repeat some questions 2 or 3 times! This time I used the online order form as to not sound like I just learned the language!!

Orb,

You actually did get D rings - that's very interesting. Did you write black sliders in the special requests box? On their order form online you can select the "Andonised Black Rectangular Slider(buckle)" option for the side fasteners.

Image

Maybe you just left it as D Rings and put the sliders as a special option? I'm sure that could be a little bit confusing...

I know for sure I requested these rectangles - we'll see what happens when I get my jacket.

I have selected the Anodised Black Rectangular Slider (buckle) in the side fastener box and I also have stated it in the special request box.
IndyMcFly I think the D-rings are also nice. If your jacket is perfect you really won't give much attention to the sliders. I hope you don't get monster pockets ^^ Btw. I have also requested: Top of panel to extend all the way out to the inside edge of the sleeve seam.

Can anybody see in my pictures if they have included this special feature? I currently don't believe that my HH had this mod.

Not quite, but remember this is horse, it's pretty thick, it may not be possible to do the seam exactly on top.

My jacket is in NY now! I wonder when it'll get here...! (More than likely sometime next week)

They'll probably fly it from NY to LA and drive it from LA to the OC via USPS and then through the OC to good ol' LH, delivering it to me, Mr. SBS. Hah! :D

Exciting!! I'm so worried about this now - lol. I love this thread.

Seriously?? Sunday? From the USPS? Wow... if that's the case, I'll just get it on Tuesday because we're having it shipped to my mother's workplace.

How would it come on a Sunday?

I'll PM Rick and see if he can get it here quickly.

That is interesting though how the jackets come on Sundays.

On my back, baby! Pics to come soon - I'll take them after this post.

Some quick notes - Gemma just added a teency bit of extra room for me. It's not too noticable, so that is to say, the jacket still fits, but I have some room.

The pockets are NOT huge, but I did not request Raiders pockets.

I DID get X Box stitching AND gussets

I did NOT get my rectangular sliders. Something must be going on.

The collar seems the right size, maybe smaller.

I love the leather - it's so soft!! - and the smell is very nice. It's a pretty light jacket, but definitely lighter than my cotton by probably 2x. I can't wait for the right season to wear it in!

Again, pics very soon!

You know, I just noticed that too about the jacket... perhaps I should have gotten a 34S - lol! As if the size didn't seem small enough already. Maybe that's where Gemma added most of the "room for growth."

The body of the jackets looks a bit long but how old are you?
I think you wrote that you have took the jacket a bit more roomier to grown in.

I think you will also rise up a bit :)

I'll be 18 in March... I do think I'll get a little bit taller, which will help in the way the jacket looks.

Do you think it'll "break in" and become more shaped like me? It feels funny to wear it with my fedora now... I may need an AB! I'm sure once the jacket gets older it'll look more like Indy's.

I LOVE the smell. Ohhhh! (It's making me crazy!)

Say, great lookin' jacket! Since I didn't read that you asked for smaller Raiders style pockets, are the pockets on your jacket the LC size? If so, what do you think of 'em?

The pockets on mine are just the standard pockets - I suppose that means they're LC, but they sure aren't the Godzilla pockets that Orb got.

I don't know what those were.

Oh, ok. In that case, aren't you kind of stuck? I mean, I can see getting the pockets enlarged, but shrunk? Wouldn't there be a perforated line where the original pocket stitching was?

Also, Orb's jacket doesn't seem to go as far past his waist as yours does with your waist. That could also be it. I mean, it's not that the pockets were made abnormally large, it's that they just appear so on a jacket made for a shorter person, because you kind of can't avoid it. Instead of the pockets being too big, it seems like the jacket is too short.

Here is a pic of my current Wested with LC pockets (because I forgot to ask for the Raiders )

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v682/ ... 0_0650.jpg

The jacket goes a little below my waist, and ust barely drapes over my butt (TMI, I know). Orb's jacket looks like it stops BEFORE his waist. By contrast, your jacket looks like it goes way past your waist.

Hi Strider!

Because of my jacket length. The HH was the same length as my LC jacket. Maybe it looks a bit short because I always wear my trousers much below my waist ^^
I think the jacket length was perfect. I liked it. But the pockets were even bigger as on my LC jacket, and both jackets are the same size! 42R. The only big difference is the 80's fit on the HH. So I still think the big monster pockets were a mistake by wested. They really too big. I have forgot to mention it but when I made the pics last week I haven't loosen the sliders. So they were totally tighten. BTW I have sent back the jacket last week. I will get a new one with small raiders pockets. (Hopefully)

Oh, ok. That's good to hear. I just wonder how they fix that. I mean, like I said..going up from smaller to larger is one thing, but I am having visions of a dotted line going around in a square where the old pockets used to be.

I'll have a little paranoid moment now - tell me if you guys think the collar is funky... look at this.

Image

The collar on my Cotton Indy is 3" long from the storm flap to the edge. The Lamb is only 2". It seems really small to me. Does the Cotton Indy have a LC collar or something and now I'm used to that? What's up?

Here's a full "body" shot

Correct. The cotton collar is the larger of the two, and does lean more toward the LC style jacket collar. Your new jacket has the correct Raiders sized collar.

GREAT looking jacket!!

I'd say that's closer to the raider's collar than any of the ROTLA jackets I've ever had from Wested. Mine are generally much larger than I think is correct.. funny thing is I've grown accustomed to the larger collars and kind of like them now. Although I'd want a smaller collar (like yours) if I ever ordered another Raiders jacket. Also, there's been alot of talk lately about specifying a "raiders collar" when ordering so that you'll get a smaller one..which is exactly what you got. Looks just right to me! Nice, jacket and congratulations! How 'bout a picture with you wearing it.

Tyrloch,

Yeah, I got a shipping notice and a tracking number.

I'm glad to hear that my collar is a good size. That's good. I thought it looked funny but wasn't sure. I didn't think it was *wrong* per se, becuase I didn't ask for anything special about it.

Michaelson, Doug C, Harrison - thanks!! :D

If it weren't 90*F here all week, I'd be wearing the thing to school, or at least sleeping in it. Unfortunately it has to sit on the Michaelson approved coat hanger for now.

The jacket looks good. I prefer a longer length Indy jacket myself, so I think it looks cool. The collar looks good too. One thing that many fans don’t do to their jackets is to “train” the collar. If you look at Raiders, the top tip of the storm flap and the opposing part of the jacket (where the collar meets the jacket body) have been creased and bent downward (and out) toward the ground (the tips of the collar stand should be visible).
The collar tips have also been bent upward (there’s a curve in the collar body). If you have a jacket with a large collar, by doing this you can help minimize how big it appears. Cheers

These jackets are laid flat and unfortunately only partially illustrate the point I’m trying to make.

Rundquist,

I know exactly what you mean, as I did that on my last jacket. I wet the collar with plain water, then squeezed it to wrinkle it up a bit, & then trained it into the slight curl. If you don't train your collar, then almost any size one will look too big...

~Jace

Especially the Last Crusade collar. Without the suggested training, it makes you look like the 'Flying Nun'!!

I was thinking that without training it's big enough to beat someone over the head with, including yourself! But now that you mention it, it probably is large enough to do some serious hang-gliding...
