erri-wan , you don't need the steam to push down the center dent. I had the same problem when I got mine, and all I did was hold it down for a few secound. Do this evrytime you handle the hat and in a day or two bingo. One more thing try having someone esle take your pics for you ( you cut off the hat in a couple of your shots).

jpenman, the only problem is that the rabbit felt is more "springy" than the beaver felt. I know I've heard of a few people bashing their hats like you said , but the rabbit just doesn't want to work that way.

P.S. erri, if you don't want to use the steam, a spray bottle of water will work, and it won't harm your hat.

EDIT: jpenman, I like you new avatar! 8)

J-weaver , I forgot that it was rabbit and not beaver. I would drop steve a line and get his advise.

Oh don't worry, I've talked may things like that over with Steve. I even ordered my AB open crown and bashed it myself using steam. It really is much easier (and safer) than it sounds. Of course I did practice some before I tackled my AB.

P.S. Its a good thing that it was a drill and not for real.

EDIT: Here is a good tutorial on bashing a hat. It explains the steam thing pretty good. Bashing Tutorial

j-waever, I've seen that web page and have it in my favorite's on my computer. One day I might even give it a try.

A couple of day's later and I was on a call doing that same thing. I was very glad I had some practice. You can get rusty at this job real fast if you don't practice all the time ( thats why we drill all the time ).

Thank you for the kind words mr fireman
I wear it like that because it's too hot and i didnt want to sweat on the inside part too much. The stright part told me Fedora will bend in time... using it. :D

for the strap
Yes, just trying to find bucks, i have only 3 by now, maybe other 3 incoming. Or we could do a deal if you need something i could send you from italy ;)

Erri,
Nice hat! Karate chop the center dent and pull the front of that brim down, and you'll be all set. :D

Erri, to get the camel hump like you want in the last pic you may have to deepen the top dent some. And don't be afraid to play around with it some, a hat is really harder to hurt than you think. Your also right about the rabbit not working like the beaver. The rabbit is a bit more "springy" than the beaver. Although you should be able to work a pretty good curl into the brim with just your hands. I think you will find that your hat will develop as you wear it. I know mine becomes better and better the more I wear it. :)

Karate wont be enough for a rabbit sorry Hemingway. I head it works on the beaver but rabbit, like Weaver said, is more "springy". I will have to work with moistening it again (with more water maybe) or steam... we will see next Fedora's replies

Great lookin' lid, erri_wan! In order to get that "brim swoop" you pointed out on Pagey's lid, you'll have to turn the hat. By the way it seems to sit on your head, my guess is that you will get a nice result by turning it...

And you might want to deepen that center dent a bit, just like J_Weaver suggested. For an Indy profile, make sure the back of the hat is a bit lower than the front (like in the pic you posted)

Check out this thread for more info on "the Raiders turn"... :D

Just put the hat on your head, grab the brim and turn it. Look in a mirror. The desired brim swoop will appear once you've moved the hat far enough on it's axis (your head). :)

mmh i will try but i fear this works just with beaver hats, mine is a rabbit and this tessue react in a different way from beaver.
THanks for the advice anyway.

Fur quality has nothing to do with it - I turned my rabbit Akubra with good results. It's when the hat is "deformed" when worn off-centre that creates the brim swoop.
On his website, 3thoubucks wrote: The opening of a fedora is an oval, as is the shape of a head. Since they are in tight contact with each other, turning a hat sideways will distort the brim. The top of a fedora is an oval shape as well. The diagram represents the top of a fedora crown. Turning a hat will supply extra material to the left rear and right front areas of the sides of the crown and a front pinch will angle back more in front.

Harrison Ford has a fairly long, narrow head, and the Raiders hat was a tight fit. The rounder your head, or the looser your hat, the more it will need to be turned. (You may have to remove and reposition the ribbon if your bow gets too far forward).

I know in the last pic i wasnt wearing it right but it was too hot and i didnt care too much LOL

:post: forgot to say that the dents are ok (if i got right what dents are  ) it's just that in my pic i wasnt really in the same position of Mr Ford but a little turned on the left.

Hat is looking good, my friend. Wear it confidentally.

I know everyone is an advocate of "the turn" but that brim swoop can be attained by a soft, thin, pliable felt and a slightly tight hat as well.

Luckly today is windy so it's not so hot, i will go out again and... as usual with my hat.

Today i worked a bit more on the camel shape following Fedora's suggestions: i moistened the top of the front pinch, and pinched it tight. It worked great and now the modification is finally permantent! ...but there are the traces of my fingers on the pinch now

Will they go away?

Sorry, Erri. It's actually my own attempt at Italian. Been trying to get a few other languages under my belt and, obviously, not succeeding. ](*,)

As for the finger marks on the hat you might try a hatbrush.
Well i checked on google translator and, if this can help you, you were A LOT better than google! I didnt know people could have been interested in learning italian, are you planning to come here? :D
