I wonder if Fedora dyes the ribbon (nuttin' wrong with dying the ribbon but I'm just trying to figure out why it wouldn't have faded a while back if it's vintage ribbon unless it's not seen daylight til now).
I have one of the first Adventurebilts ever sold and the ribbon hasn't faded one iota. I also have another Adventurebilt that is newer; that one hasn't faded either. -Not a bit and not a hint of purple.
I am quite certain that Fedora doesn't dye the ribbon. It is such a dark brown, it is nearly black and it has stayed that way.

Very nice...
I completely disagree. Some of us get outside more than others and the weather changes from time to time. Sometimes we get wet. Sometimes you cannot help it, sometimes you can. Hats are to protect us form the elements. Not
just sun or we could all wear a straw hat, since a felt fedora is not the most comfortable thing to wear in the hot sun in the first place. It just looks the coolest. (BTW, "Numbskulls" is spelled with a "k"...)
I wear my hats in the rain. Granted, one of my AB's usually stays dry, but my first AB is as good as an umbrella to me. If it's an "adventure" hat, then that means it's gonna see rain at one point in time or another. If not, then a baseball cap might as well be a "real adventure hat." Sure, if it's a utter downpour, I might use an umbrella or try to make a run for it, but if it's a rainy day and I want to wear a hat, then I take a fedora which will hold up to the elements.
As for the purple/faded ribbon, I haven't had any issues with the ribbon on my two AdventureBilts. Could it be the lighting? After all, didn't we be a recent black AB that looked purple on screen, but wasn't in real life?

bink and HJ,
Do your hats have the vintage ribbon on them? I'm considering ordering a hat with the vintage ribbon but if it fades I may reconsider.

Holly, to the best of my knowledge, both of my AdventureBilts have vintage ribbon. Heck, I'm 99% sure of it, since Steve knows how picky I am with my vintage fedoras. Again, I haven't had problems with my ribbons, even on my vintage fedoras. I think a lot of things can look different depending upon the light. I'm not saying that ribbons can't fade to purple, rather, it hasn't happened to me. Personally, I'd go with the vintage ribbon. Worst case senario, you eventually send it back to Steve for a new ribbon if it fades. Hope this helps!

I am assuming Pagey's must have the new ribbon on it. I know it is not what I am using now. I have used both vintage and modern on these hats, depending upon what I had at the time. It does not surprise me about the modern Schiff ribbon. Hard to find good ribbon, unless you can tag in on someone's run. Pagey, if you want, I will mail you a piece of this vintage ribbon that I am currently using. PM me if interested. regards, Fedora

My ribbon is vintage (I asked Steve
) and it is so dark brown that you would almost think it's black.
Holly, if memory serves me correctly, aren't you a fan of Kepplers with black ribbons? Steve's ribbon is such a deep dark brown it almost looks black.
It's the perfect look.
I would imagine you could probably request a sample.
Here's a pic, a very small picture, but it's all I have handy:

Hem, if your ribbon is vintage, then I'm sure mine is, too!
I just can't think straight to remember much these days.

Yes, I sure am. I like having a felt/ribbon contrast. That's good to hear about Steve's ribbon.
