It all sounds really, really great fedora. Just curious, will you be doing that off center turn on your hats?
Oh, but yesss! I would recommend the turn highly, or not.
Seriously, you can get it straight, or turned. The thing about the turn is, you really can't capture the Raiders look without it. Everytime I think of the turn, I think of 3M$. He was the one that brought me to it, kicking and screaming. The thing about the turn is it not only gives the brim the Raiders look, but it also affects the crown, as long as the felt is not stiff. To see this yourself, grab a soft hat, pop out the creases, put it on your head and turn it. Now, as you turn it, watch the top, where the sides start their radius to the top. You will see a mushroom effect. It is amazing, and also gives the hat some reverse taper that you won't have if you do not do it. Fedora[/list]

They should declare a national Gearhead Day nation wide. Maybe we could get the day off of work, too!

Well, now I have some thinking to do. Originally I wasn't too concerned about getting the turn done to my hat, but after reading your statement, Fedora, I may have to re-think things.

Well, I DON'T want it done to mine, just to make it democratic.

Maybe on my 2nd hat.

Turn? Who needs the turn?
...If your head and face is naturally off center and crooked, Eyeballs and nose 3 degrees off center you can save a lot on reblocking and bashing!!!
Like Michealson, I'm going in for the Indy facial shift surgery next week
Some of us are blessed with it from birth....Others not so blessed eh
Warm Regards
Kilgour Trout
P.s. The longer I wait for "The Fedora" I feel my mental stitching is slowly coming loose!!!
Must....haveeee....newwww...liddd...
In the mean time I'm learning draw hats on the walls with my toes...Man this white jacket is tight!

...And the D rings installed. We are talking about the "cotton Indy," right?
Yeah, I want my fedora without the turn, just as it was made in the day. I figure the felt and quality of the hat will allow it to take its own character.

It would appear that the members of FICCOW(Fedora Impatience Club of COW) continues to grow. Has there ever been as much anticipation of a product in these parts before? I've been here for four years, some lurking, some not, but I don't recall this much excitement over anything before. I can remember being pumped for the arrival of the Wested on Christmas morning, and this is something akin to that. Maybe we should get those glass display cases from Baron's to put these in. Always handle them with cotton/latex gloves. And have those surgical head covers so the hat never actually touches your head. It must be kept pure and untainted!
Or I'll just wear it and let Mother Nature take a crack at it...

OH yes. The anticipation and wait on the first authentic lambskin Wested...the first FS Expedition jacket....the first Wested authentic goatskin jacket....the first redfour Headpiece of the Staff of Ra....shall I go on?

The Federation has come to be known affectionately here as the 'Fed.' The Peters Brothers hat is routinely called a 'PB.' Will the Fortune and Glory hat be called the 'FNG,' 'F&G,' or the 'Fang?' I can think of another possibility, but I can't say I care for it.

Looking forward to it.

Not at all. I don't mind. I have not counted lately, but a few weeks ago, it was at around 60. I figure it is around 70 or 75 now. Quite a few members here, and many folks that don't post. I ordered over a hundred bodies so there are still some left.
My next order will include some grey bodies and a few pecan, just to have around. I figure I can have all of the preorders out by the first week in Dec. I have converted one of my storage buildings into the Adventurebilt Hat Shop, with heat and air conditioning. It used to me my recording studio. I used the diagram from that old hatmaking book to set up the shop. Fedora
