Oh, yeah, Gringo....but, actually this is a craft pale ale brewed with Rye....it's by the good folks at Terrapin Brewing Co. in good ol' Athens, Ga..

I do love a good rye whiskey, though...hard to get here in Ga...and high dollar, too.

I'll bring you a "sampler" whe I get up that way again...probably this Fall!

Cheers, my friend!

I am waiting patiently----no, I am chomping at the bit to get one of the heros. My financial situation is rather dire at the moment, however...but hopefully SOOON!
Speaking on the variations on Wested Jackets over the years, I can attest to having five custom Wested Raiders jackets in my closet. Yes, they all look slightly different, but all have received plenty of wear, and I regret not a single purchase, even in light of this new offering. To me they are all outstanding Raiders jackets.
Well, there is one that didn't float my boat in terms of the Indy look, as I thought it looked too plain on me. It fit me to a T, but it just didn't have that look. Years later, I give it to my roommate, he puts it on and all of a sudden, BAM! It looks VERY Indy on him, and we have similar (albeit not remarkably similar) builds. It just shows to go you how different folks sometimes bring out the Indy in the jacket, not the other way around. ;) :TOH:

Just got an email from Peter, in regard to the shrunken lamb, and this is what he says.
Hopefully within a couple of weeks, unfortunately the skins we have left and
we have 1000ft + are too small for the back panel
Cheers

Have anyone gotten the 'Seal brown soft goat 'new'' ?

Also, does this new jacket have the 'flying squirrel' effect when the jacket is zipped and you raise your arms? My current Raiders Custom got it, but I thought it was just part of the 'nature' of the jacket to do so. But after taking a closer look, I can see that it's the basic design that does that, with the armpit being away from the main body. If the new one if cut closer to the body, I would imagine that the 'flying squirrel' effect wouldn't be so outspoken?

Yes,the "squirrel effect" is much reduced on the hero.

lol Nice! :)

Yep, looks like (from the pics and what I've read) Wested's got the armholes good and small and well placed on the Hero. All you need to do is get the correct chest size
and you're all set. Go too wide in the chest, and even small armholes won't help prevent the nasty squirrel effect.

Hey P, I have the Doctor Who in the same leather from the photo and it is a size XXL. Fits great(since your Mag X-O fits me). These two jackets are very close aside for some X-men mods. the car coat length has become my fav. I hope you can order one. Take care

P.S. If you want measurements of the XXL, let me know!

Well I just got my Wested Hero in shrunken lamb just a few minutes ago. First impressions: it's a very nice jacket. The design is a lot like my Nowak. The leather is very soft, not a ton of character (except for a dent that almost looks like a long cut), and it actually reminds me a lot of the washed goat I used to have. The jacket was made just like I asked, which is very nice.

Here are some pics:

Looks fairly nice, although the jacket does not appear exactly as I imagined it would. How lightweight is it? It looks to be a little thick for a raiders jacket.

Looks nice. Not as much "wrinkle" as I had expected, but nice nonetheless! The "dent" looks like it could be a scar of some kind :-k Hard to determine anything from a picture though, so I'm probably wrong

Any more SL Hero jackets received? If so, please do post pics. And if you got one of those crispe jackets please do post those as well. I'd love to see how the leather will look on that one. :D

Yeah the leather is smoother than I thought it would be... but I am betting after getting rained on a few times the grain will start popping out.

That really does look like the washed goat Jnicktem.. :-k
Is that the 'dent' between the pocket and the zipper? Probably looks worse than it really is, but it would have been nice if Wested could have used
that leather somewhere less obvious.
This is why I'll wait for a 'Hero' jacket to pop up in the Bazaar; I can see it first and avoid nasty little surprises.

The leather looks a lot like the washed goat, but it's definitely lamb. It's actually thinner than the goat, but strong. I like it. It is slightly heavier than the todds I had.

And yes, that is the "dent." I don't know if it was there when the jacket was made or if it happened during shipping...?

jnicktem, nice jacket - question, with the sleeves being set off the shoulder did you order your normal sleeve length? if so how is the fit? would you recommend ordering a slightly shorter length to accomodate this or has Wested built this into the design - if you know what I mean?

Thanks

Could you show us the jacket on you? And compare to Nowak Raiders jacket?

I'm curious how it will look after some water treatment, because now it doesn't look too awesome.

I think it looks great jnicktem! :D I know what I want to order now. It would be good to see the jacket on you and how it fits. I'm curious about how you ordered your sleeve length too. I'm a jacket size 42 last time I checked. So seeing that yours is the same would you have gone a size smaller or would it have been too tight in the chest?

Seeing the photo of an actual production jacket for the first time, I'm a little disappointed in the apparent lack of grain/texturing as what I saw on Wested's website. Everything else looks pretty good. I'm just hoping that when I get mine, it'll look close to my USW Legend Striated lamb which has become one of my favorites.

All of them look like nice jackets. The only thing that I don't like about them are the pocket flaps. Maybe they just appear wrong to me on the pics, but I think if this is to be a copy of the TNO Raiders, then the flaps look completely different. Otherwise, it's a nice looking jacket.

I will work on getting some pics of me wearing it.

As for the sleeve length, usually I take a 25" sleeve (that is the sleeve length of my TN CS) and on my TN Raiders I need a 26" sleeve. So that is what I ordered for the Wested Hero and it fits the same way as my TN Raiders. So I do recommend on ordering a little extra sleeve length, at least a half an inch.

As for the leather, looking at it closely you can see some nice grain and texture. That is why I plan on wearing it in the rain a few times. I bet then a lot of grain would start popping out.

I am a jacket size 42 in nearly every jacket I have owned. There is some extra room in there, but I feel like it would be too tight if I went down to a 40.
