what if this is all a clever scheme to use your hat and copy the ab as the hat for the next film ? :P

Hey, whatever happens from here on in, this is an impressive achievement Steve!

Besides, this finally makes it official; AB and the COW fans know more about the Raiders fedora than Lucasfilm does...not that this surprises me :D

PS--I'm wondering, since people obsessed with Indy gear are Gearheads, does that mean those of us obsessed with getting the perfect Raiders block shape are Blockheads? #-o

Wow, Steve!!!! I've been following this thread for awhile now & in the words of so many others, it just keeps getting better. I wish you all the luck & success in the world with this. I truly believe that the moment that AB hits Mr. Ford's head, this is a done deal. The quality, the feel & the look will win him over, & the rest will be history. I'm even more honored to own one of your hats now. Congratulations. :D

I thought I remembered them saying they DID have a script ready.

Besides, we had been thinking that these guys would try and trick us and say they were filming in '07 but really were starting now. It's "Blue Harvest" again.

Hopefully we can trust Steve's contact. Hopefully Steve can trust Steve's contact!

They've been working on the script for a while, and lucas recently said that they finally arrived at one that he spielberg and ford where happy with, filming has not begun, only the 1st stages of pre-production in about 2 years we should be seeing Indy4.

By my count there are about 5 scripts already.

It's not uncommon for a film to move deep into production without a script 100% completed. It is uncommon for a Spielberg production since he loves to be so meticulous with pre-production planning, so you never know!

Back in the day, I think this may have been true. The large studios were movie making machines, churning out a movie per week at one time.

Casablanca, always at or near the top of the greatest movies of all time lists, was almost finished filming and the ending for the movie had not even been written, yet. Julius and Phillip Epstein, two of the screenwriters, were worried about how they were going to end the film. One day they had an epiphany while driving down the road. The ending just hit them like a lightning bolt, just in the nick of time.

With the large budgets for movies these days, I don't think this is the case. Without a script in hand, you aren't going to be able to get the financing that you need to start making the film. They do have the need for some script revisions as the shooting progresses sometimes.

You would have thought so, but the possiblility of making a buck can throw little details like that out the window. They just did Pirates 2 and 3 back to back and started without a finished script.

Hopefully they are ready here and the button has been pressed.

"Round up the usual suspects!"

Ford and Spielberg have done a certain degree of that in all 3 Indy movies, though not to the degree "Casablanca" was.

You guys should have seen 3M$'s duct tape fedora. Anyone have pics of that hat? It was fantastic, and looked like a real hat, a real Raider fedora. I lost mine when I changed pcs.

Edited, edited, edited. I said too much!!! Forget about it.

God, I hate this!! Not being able to post behind the scenes work. Do not expect much to surface due to the rotation and lockdown. I must watch what I say from here on out, as I do not want to put my contact in a compromising situation. Might hurt my chances of the AB in the film. But we will see a new one, unless something bad happens like a death of one of the players. Everyone involved are in the excitement stage now. From what I can surmise, it is a go, with pre-production accomplished. There are several interesting things I am privy of, through my contact, but will just have to keep them to myself. I am capable of that.

I just want to thank this guy pubically for loving my hats so much that he took it upon himself to help get an AB on Ford's head, and also to being my best advocate for the film hat. He has an eye for detail, as he is an artist with film work under his belt with many high grossing films in his folder, including Spielberg's. He was astounded how much my hats looked like the Raiders fedora, while no others one do, and this prompted him to make the calls and do the legwork. So, thank you Robert, and I am so appreciative of your great and bulldogged efforts. Regards, Fedora

Congratulations Steve, couldn't happen to a better man. Your fedora is tops, and your eye for detail is amazing. Well done. :)

As for IJ4 - I'm still amazed in this day and age of everyone knowing everything about every movie under production thanks to websites like Ain't It Cool News and such, that the plot is still a secret. Well done Lucas & Co for keeping it under wraps. Nowadays, it's VERY hard to keep movie info a secret like this! :)

So Steve, even if you did know "stuff" - I don't wanna know. Makes it more fun! 8)

The plot actually revolves around the son of the monkey killed in Raiders because of the poisoned date. Indy is lured into a trap by tales of the Golden Banana of Antioch only to discover too late that son of the monkey has the upper hand. The movie is filled with losts of swinging adventure and tons of bananas. You can bet that folks will be clamouring for screen-accurate bananas once the film is released.

Most of the bananas will be brown except on the plane, when Ford carries a grey one.

I posted this way back when at Indyfan, but my idea for the opener is that Indy finds out the Hovitos have turned into a bunch of drunks without their idol, so Indy finds it and returns it to the temple in Peru.

 I agree. Anything that I hear about the script would be kept me myself. But, really, I do not expect to be told anything but things dealing with the hats. I was told something in regards to the revisions, and was shocked, but then again-not. I do know you can be sure gossip goes on with the folks that do the manual labor for the films, and some of what I hear would fall into that category. Crew talking among themselves and all of that. I have dates regarding certain things that are to take place, but will leave it at that. I get a kick out of just hearing what is being kicked around behind the scenes. Regards. Steve

Ya know, honestly ... I was going to ask 3k$ if I could buy that duct tape fedora from him. Why? I was planning to use it in the San Diego Comic Con's masquerade. They have these STRICT rules about making your own costume that they just will not budge from. They do it so that someone cannot win every year by merely spending a few grand and obtaining a professionally made costume while the other contestants parade around in rags.

Since about 90% of the contestants are masquerading as anime characters anyway, this usually isn't a problem.

However, when you want to masquerade as Indy, well .. BIG problem. How am I going to make a whip, or make a jacket? Much less a hat? Or boots? They don't care, they stick to the rules, and that's that. Most of the gear would have to be made out of duct tape.

Well, shoot. I was hoping we'd hear about him getting the hat sooner than that but I guess you can't rush a good thing. :D

I don't know if you can say so or even know for that matter but do you think Indy 4 is Harrison's next film to shoot?

Steve, this is a great idea. Journal everything down so you can remember and share with the community after the film is released. That way, there's no arguing facts! Besides, how cool would that be to have a real-time written account of everything?

And Jerry, you're on, though double or nothing they add three extra days to January next year. I'm betting they'll be put in somewhere between the 5th and 9th.

OK, lets not start asking for too much... as if some haven't already.

A journal may be a good idea, but even after the fact, there may be some things that Steve can't divuldge. I know with certain vendors, some things were told in confidence that were not to be repeated... and haven't been.

LucasFilm does get a bit touchy with what their vendors do or say. Let's not start down a path that may jeopardize Steve's chances here. Let's let Steve enjoy this for himself and not all be thinking 'what's in it for me'.

...and Bink, this is in no way directed soley at you. I understand the excitement over this. I'm thrilled myself. But we should all keep level heads about what is appropriate to ask for.

No offense taken.  You make a good point. I'd hate for Steve to get in trouble over anything he can't divulge. Still, if it were me, I'd keep a personal journal of the whole thing for my personal records, even if there was much I couldn't share with everyone else.
