Oh and by the way, as I said before, I'm expecting size 33" to be available from Todd... screen accurate (and also my size hehe)
I'm an extremely small adult male. 21. 5'3" about 110lb.
I see, well as I understand, the problem for you is getting trousers that are a true 30". It's unorthodox to ask Todd to make smaller sizes supposing that his 30" waist won't be a true 30" don't you think?
If you order a 30" and it's not 30" I guess you can always send it back and get a refund/substitution.

Yeah, true.
The only pairs of pants I own in a 30 are my llbean close enoughs and a slim-cut pair of Levi's jeans. All others I have to get in 29, which I've always found curious. Tried on a pair of dress trousers the other day that were 30 and I was swimming in them. They felt more like 32. If they fit like my close enoughs, I'll be content.
Lay a pair of good fitting trousers flat on the bed and measure the waist from one side to another, double the result and that's your waist size. Just so you know

I know. And I'm aware of what size my waist is-- I've been professionally fitted. Doesn't change that most 30s simply do not fit me at all.

Well if Todd's 30s end up being true then you could take them to a seamstress and have them altered to 29.

Well if they're true I won't need 'em altered. My llbeans are true 30 and fit. It's all the others I have issues with. Seems counter intuitive, eh?
Depending on price and fit I may just end up going with a custom Magnoli anyway.
I personally can't wait, but I know it will have to be a success with the rest of you before larger sizes will be available, so buy as many as you can to help me out:)

Be nice!
I'm all doped up on pain meds so maybe my brain function is impaired - yeah, I did read here that they were made of wool, but I'm not the sharpest tool in Indy's bag so excuse me for forgetting important information.
I'm going to crawl up into a ball and cry now.
generalFROSTY, I'm sure my fellow members didn't mean to be rude. It's not big deal if you don't know the kind of wool the original trousers were made of... and now you know
And I continue to patiently wait, rocking back & forth on my clown shoes.
Waiting it the toughest part, but I would rather wait and have it done right the first time. Not long now, right?
The more I watch Raiders, the less happy I am with my 'close enough' LL Bean pants. The color is OK, and it has the pleats and pretty good pocket flaps, it drapes more like LC and CS but it overall does not 'look' like the Raiders pants should. I'm really excited for what's coming next from Todd as I have yet to be dissapointed by one of his products.

I've found some of the best seamstress/seamsters? at dry cleaners who are of Asian decent. They seem to want to tackle anything with wonderful results, especially the men.

Ditto. I have my close-enoughs Military hemmed. Did it at the local dry cleaners for $8. If I go for Todd's I'll just order them nice and long and have the dry cleaner hem them as well. She did a great job and was very quick about it. She warned me that in order to hem them she'd have to cut the pants-- that was her reservation. But I assured her that was fine and she did a great job. Though mine only have a 2-inch hem because the pants weren't long enough for the 4 inch.
It's enough to tell your tailor to do the hem at a certain height (can't remember now what it was, 2"-3" or something) and slightly higher raised on the front (wear your aldens when you go get measured so the tailor will know). I got a perfect hem from mine without having to request a "military hem" or something like that.
I really cant wait for these to come out. Pants are the next item on my "to buy" list and if the Todd's pants aren't available soon I'm gonna have to give in and cough up the dough for Magnoli's. I'm not even considering the Wested pants because they don't look ANYTHING close to SA in my opinion.
The biggest problem I see with the Wested pants - just from the photos - is the color. Not sure how they look in person, but Magnoli's pants do look to be 'the' choice out there right now...price is high but so is the quality.

If you want to see a good thread about Wested pants, see Holt's. Anyways I thought this was a thread about Todd's pants.

IMO the colour is the only thing that has always been good on Wested pants, It's the pattern that's off.
That is the biggest reason I'm eagerly awaiting what Todd will come up with: they might just combine a perfect colour with a great pattern.

Colour is fine, pictures are misleading. It's not tooooo far from NH trousers, makes a good Last Crusade option I think.
He seems to be working hard on it all the time. Over the past couple months as i've gone in to pick up different stuff he's been working on the pattern. I really think it's going to be right, and he sure wants to make sure it's right or he would have just rushed them to market.
I would say he's being like the hatters with their blocks...sanding a very small bit here or there...blocking the hat, checking for every little detail, then going back to tweak the block again...and again...and again....until they have what they think is perfect. That's Todd with the pants. Changing an angle here or there to make sure they hang right through the leg without being too baggy in the seat. When he was showing me I was really impressed with what tailors go through and the art involved to make a pant do what it does, and explains why some pants fit so good, and others pinch and bind in weird ways...

The color of the Wested trousers is pretty good, but I would not say 100% SA. My problem with them is in there weight. I would like to see them a bit heavier, which would make them more durable. There are other little details which could be fine tuned. I know I'm not the first to say this here but, why they did not copy stitch for stitch the NH trousers is a mystery. It's not like they never saw a pair. Perhaps when they did have them, they were under the black sleep....
Overall they are not bad and I'm glad I have a pair. However, I look forward to getting a pair of Todds.
That's what I thought but the spelling looked off..
Yeah, it really should start with an I, but I was rushing off to something else and fired it off without thinking. Story of my life.
That's what she said?
I ALMOST WROTE THAT!!!!! Nice work Joyce. Anyway, back to your regularly scheduled thread about Todd's Pants, although at this point, I think this thread can go nowhere. I just keep watching Todd's site for the addition of the trousers!

Nonsense! This is one of the funnestest threads we have, I think. Besides, I keep checking it waiting to see that someone has received "the pants".
Well, I can tell you that I make a point of visiting this thread about three times a day (usually) just to see if there's been any posts by Todd himself letting us know if he's any further along with this.
I also make a point of visiting his website pretty regularly for the same reason.
But I'd agree... I'd dearly love to read some kind of an update from him. It'd be great if he'd be so kind as to share the status of this project with us. Even if it was something like "Almost there, but still running into lots of problems getting the pockets 'right'" I'd still be curious to know (and reassured to know if things were still crawling along)...
But I'll freely admit that I'm still optomistically settled into the "I bet this'll be worth the wait" camp.
Having said that, I'll also admit a certain impulse to keep looking at my "watch" as we get nearer and nearer to the start of Spring.
I'm sure I'm not the only Member who's thinking that hopefully I'll be sporting a pair of these for a few "outdoor Gear photoshoots" once the warmer weather starts.
I have this amusing image of Todd sitting at his table sewing together paper to see how it looks altogether. But as I don't know what Todd looks like, I've substituted Denholm Elliott in Trading Places.
So, what should we spectulate on a price point? After numerous searches online for wool cavalry twill pants, I would place the price of these at around the same price as his jacket. Which is ok, I'll eventually get a pair. Now, if he could get them out at say 50 a piece, yowza.
Okay, here's the update: The pattern is final, but after making samples from various fabrics, including cavalry twill, we're making samples from various weights to get the Raiders drape. We're watching various scenes to see how many wrinkles the pants make when the knee is raised, etc.
We've been busy with other projects - custom jackets and xena dresses - you know, paying customers. Next week we'll try another pair and evaluate the results.
