Nope, it is it's own entity. It actually started from this thread:Is this a continuation of this thread?

Sorry lads, I'm not adding any new names until somone either drops off, or the current run is completed.
Sorry to disappoint!

Possible gun supplier
Hey Rook I'm pretty new to this Indy forum. However I'm whole soled when it comes to my interests. I've currently ordered an AB fedora and a Nowak jacket. I'm also a bit of a perfectionist and a pretty good craftsman. I am just about finished with the building of my 30' x 50' shop. One of my hobbies is muscle car restoration, especially Mopars. I use to do lost wax casting in high school and did a number of excellent projects that won regional awards. I'm a makeup effects fan and have always been interested in learning to make different kinds of molds for casting foam appliances and car parts. Once my shop is finished I would like to try casting a gun. I'll be contacting you about this subject in the future. Maybe I can help fill the needs of those who didn't make your 50 count list, myself included. Thanks

Out of curiosity has anyone ever tried using available NOS or reproduced parts that are readily available and just cast the pieces that aren't?
I'm going to try and find what pieces are available and see what they cost.
Here a schematic of a Webley Mark IV and VI. Does anyone have a schmatic for the WG?

The problem with using NOS Webley parts is the fact that the WG doesn't use any of the same ones. The cylinder is different size, the grip frame and grips themselves are different.
The trigger and hammer are very different (internally) compared to the design of the MKIV and MKVI.
The only parts that might be swappable would be the release lever and the hinge bolt/screw, but I believe you'll need to find one from either a MKI or MKIII pistol in .455 Webley.
I started a thread about the WG showing some of the differences here:
viewtopic.php?t=28869
Hope that helps.
Also, I've seen schematics of the MKIV and the MKVI, but I've never seen a full schematic breakdown of the WG. It's truly a different bird in the (Webley) flock.

Different bird is right. It's funny, in doing my WG research every thread in every forum out there seems to have you (Rook) either starting it or jumping in.
Russ who's Webley did you use to make your molds, yours or borrowed? I was looking at buying a real one to use, but the Indy 4 popularity seems to have driven the prices way up there! You can get all the other similar Webleys for about 1/4-1/2 their cost. Year old auctions show decent ones going for 800-1200 and today 2500-3500.
I'm currently piecing together a vacuum chamber for the silcone degassing and was looking at a used paint pressure pot for the resin cast. What supplies do you use? We have TAP Plastics locally which carries a nice line. What Aluminum powder do you use with your resin?
I bought my wife a nice used electric Kiln ($500) for pottery last year and will get the shop wired for it soon. Why did you choose to cast the small pieces in pewter instead of resin, strength?

The Webley used is my own. I decided to make certain parts from metal over resin for durability. The Hinge pin and lanyard ring were my main points of concern. While you lose some detail doing the parts in metal, you also don't have many of the air bubble issues with metal that you get in resin.

Hey Mike, I've sent a PM to Rook w/my apoloigies, due to the dang economy and purchasing a KOTCS back pack (which is more practical), I've bowed out of this run, so if Rook is willing, you can have my spot. You might want to change the spec's though.

No! You can't back out! It's not allowed! Kali-ma,kali-ma,kali-ma...
Project Update:
I just remastered my lanyard post (YAY! Been mucking with this thing for a month and a half!) and will be pouring some metal on Thursday!
I have 2 guns 90% ready to ship right now (just waiting on lanyard rings/posts and release lever attachment), and a host more just needing final seam sanding and assembly.
Since I'm using the Propstore pics as detailing references, I'm actually not painting one metal piece or many of the screw heads. Makes things a small bit faster as well!
It's coming! Faster!

Well Rook, can I have his spot?
Mike
Well, I know this doesn't benefit me either way, but I would think it fair that if someone drops off the list, the first person outside the list gets the position.
Of course, it isn't my project, so not my call, but that's how I would do it.
Or...if Mike gets to take over the spot, he has to buy everyone who asked before him a beer

Updated the list. Also noticed I had one person on there twice, so there was a moveup and 2 additions.
Project update:
Got the barrel muzzles drilled in 7 guns today. Made up 9 lanyard rings using the new moulds (Works 2000% better than the last mould!) and got 9 release levers made also. I still need to do seam sanding on 5 or 6 guns, then onto painting and final assembly.
I plan on working on them again on Saturday while the Mrs. is gone, so I hope to have a better update soon.
Cheers,
Russ

Sorry no pics yet. And for the record, Krylon's new satin paint formula is total crud. It takes easily 4x as long to cure as the old formula did, which in turn means I have to wait that much longer before I can assemble, etc.
I have 2 pistols assembled only awaiting final detail touchups/weathering/numbering and 5 more barrels and grips that have been painted.
This time around I have been masking off the trigger and hammer. It leaves them that bright silver-ish color that I have a heck of a time cleaning up after painting the old way.
I should have these pistols done by Sunday and then the next round of shipping begins.
Yay!

This is just a project discussion/update thread now.
I'll get pics up soon of the current group of pistols. I still need to fine tune the release levers (sand/paint/fit) and a couple other parts. Plus final fitting and weathering. Pics soon!

Number 50 is the last one for now.
Got 2 done except for the shell casing color and front sight. 2 more mostly done, just need to do the shell/sight paint and add the lanyard and grips.
It's amazing how much nit picky adjustments you need to do when building these. I'd forgotten.
Finally, the pics I promised...

I still have another 4-5 pistols partially trimmed sitting in a box that didn't get in the pics.
I got 10 release levers trimmed/drilled/painted on Sunday and got the shells/front sights painted on the first 5. It rather looks like I imagine a WWI armourey might have looked.
I'm PMing people on the list as well to verify interest. No need to contact me, I'll contact you if you're already on there. It's been a long road, but it feels good to be making progress.

LOL! All bribes will be considered.
No, no they really won't.
Putting the finishing touches on 6 today. I hope to have pics up tonight showing all the lovely ladies in a row.
And in case anyone is wondering what that oddball sitting next to the Webley's is... it's a Battlestar Galactica Five-Seven and as of last night it's finally finished! Yay!
Edit:
Here's the pics! Now I need to start finishing the next 12. *sigh*

And they all went out in today's post (at about 4:59 pm)!
Finally cashed that check Indiana MarkVII sent me back in August...
Now to get going on the next 12...
I'm going to need to make up some more metal parts for certain.
Right now I have 7-8 release levers done and 6 or so lanyard loops.
The cool thing about the metal parts is how fast they really are to cast.
With resin, it takes about 45 minutes or so to get a barrel/grip and a set of grip panels.
With the metal parts, I can cast a full set of metal parts in under 10 minutes if I have all the moulds set up. Turn around time is pretty fast even when figuring in redusting the moulds.
Regarding display plaques...
The display plaques can be purchased from a member of the RPF, Kevin Hinson.
Just contact him directly at: GATORBAIT9696 att HOTMAIL dott COM
...and tell him you would like one of the Indy Webley plaques designed by Russ "Rook" Krook.
After that you may want one of the plaque stands. They can be purchased from Rebelscum.net:
http://stage.rebelscum.com/estore/prodd ... EG&cat=170
You get a set of 2 stands for only $9. These are the same stands made by Master Replicas for their own products.
Here's a photo of one of Kevin's plaques on the Rebelscum plaque stand...
On the left is an actual MR plaque and stand. Kevin does lots of custom plaques for other props as well. Feel free to ask him if he has one for a particular prop you may have.

Woah, woah, woah. Please ignore that smithy comment! I emplore you to consider you next project being another run of Webleys! You are, my friend, pretty much the only person in the known universe who makes them. I've been looking for EVER. I've even contacted known replica makers and dealers asking them if they knew of any WG replicas. No luck.
I LOVE watching this project with HUGE amounts of unbridled jealousy at those 50 names!

come on rook! you make an awesome WG....you don't have anything left to prove in that regards. cut the WG production now cuz the market is already flooded my friend....you won't be able to give these away soon......but a bapty.....you can charge like $5000 a gun and they'll sell like hotcakes!
(as long as you sell the first one to me for like $150)
