Congratulations on a great hat! I think you did a really good job with the shaping! Don't worry too much about the brim, I've had my Fed IV Deluxe since June of last year and the brim is still conforming to my head and settling into its shape. I think that it just takes a bit of time and usage to soften up.

Re: The Federation IV Display Page
New York state is currently in a state of emergency due to brutal winter weather. Which I thought was a great time to wear my Fed IV.
Okay, so in all seriousness I was walking around town when it was snowing a bit, but not very bad. I was inside for a few hours and then when I went back outside to walk home, the weather had gotten crazy. But the Fed IV handled it like a champ. Here it is after I arrived home and got most of the snow off of it.
I got off as much of the snow as I could. Then I folded the sweatband out and rested the hat on it so it wouldn't screw up the brim, and let it dry. Just a few hours later and it was good as new.
The more I wear this hat, the more comfortable I become with wearing it in all sorts of situations and weather. I certainly won't be swimming with it on anytime soon, and I still care for it properly, but I'm realizing that it's more than capable of taking a light snow or even a blizzard. They really are built like tanks. Any hat that can take the New York winter and not miss a beat is an awesome hat in my book!

Re: The Federation IV Display Page
Well, it depends on the year. But around me it's not uncommon to get two meters of snow or more at once. This year we've gotten a few smaller snowfalls of 50cm to a meter or so. I'm closer to the city of Buffalo, the Significantly Smaller Apple when compared to New York City. New York City is down at the bottom of the state, about a 6 hour drive from me. I'm a bit in the middle of nowhere comparatively. A lot less skyscrapers and a lot more fields and cowsManwiththehat wrote: ↑Sun Feb 16, 2025 5:37 am Glad to hear that it will take the weatherI wonder when you say crazy weather in The Big Apple how much snow does it mean?
It's always interesting/funny hearing people gets shocked when it comes like 1cm snow
In Norway we are used 50cm to a couple of meters so when we only got like 5-7 cm this year it feels like a vacation
Anyways Can't wait to test my federation iv deluxe in these conditions

Buffalo and the surrounding areas are known for big snowstorms because of lake effect snow. Our last three winters have been somewhat mild and we only one or two storms that dumped 2 meters or so, if I'm remembering correctly. But this year we got hit hard again. Oh well, I don't mind it too much. I'd rather have snow than rain and mud, which is all we get if it's not snowing in the winter

We’ve been getting a lot of blizzardy weather here too, I’ve taken my FedIV out in it a number of times, and same thing. Water runs right off the thing and once it dries (didn’t take long) you’d never know it got soaked.
I actually wore it out in freezing rain for almost two hours. Kept the rain from going down my neck and my head stayed warm and dry. It’s like a wide brimmed hat was designed for this
No warping, shrinking, nothing. These things definitely hold up as advertised.
Wear it fearlessly!
