I'll echo what Holt said. This thing REALLY loosens up. As far as weight, yes its heavy, but I haven't noticed it being heavy enough to be off putting. And thats here in eastern NC where the winter is low 50's. I would think in New Hampshire the weight would be welcome indeed!

Don't worry guys, I'm just nuts. I diid read those posts, and still I thought it would just be lighter. I plan on breaking it like you recomend. But I think I'm still after the alusive light weight SL. Wish I could aford a Novak like gunslingers, but oh well.

I'll just go back to ..... ](*,)

ps: does Wested still offer the washed goat, maybe I can use the specs from this jacket to get me Wested that fits.

why don't you just give that jacket a good year of wear and let it really break in and then decide? I would if I was in your position..

wested is not going anywhere soon...

No wiser words have been spoken, just lookin for a new "summer" jacket, in leather, not the cotton drill. Had one, never wore it.

just an update.

I have been wearing it non stop since I got it. no washing machine. just wear.

I am 100% convinced Roz Schott sorted out the thickest SL for me. it is SO thick and stiff and look, even this thick skin starts to get a really good drape. The weigth? well, yeah, it's there dude for sure but you get used to it. first time I slipped it on I felt the need to get strapped up in an F-16 and be blown away from this earth. It feels that tough and real world ''bring it on'' jacket and it really is. It's an ''avirex'' jacket in a way. Look how this armor plated backpanel start to break in. I'm loving it.

Croft, never let this baby go, you will be sorry you did. yes, it's true, it will never get the true raiders ''supermans cape'' drape we see on screen and the reason for that was that the skin was THIN. look when Sallah claps indy on his shoulders n the imam scene. see how the leather reacts and how thin it is. Croft, I WILL guarante you that it will get a super nice drape IF you just keep wearing it and make it your own and I think you will get used to the weight. I know I am. I will NEVER let this one go.

Is that a glass pepsi bottle? If so, haven't seen one of those in a while.

You give a compelling argument, but not to worry Holt, I'm keeping it.
Just the rantings of a guy (like your self it seems) looking for "that" jacket.
I'll continue to wear it as much as I can, even in the sub zero weather were being hit with, I'll need this jacket to help.

Thank you.

Boy now theres an out of this ballpark question, but I belive it to be the all to present plastic bottle. A glass bottle would probably be found in an antique store.

the bottle is plastic. lol. but we have coke in glass and the new ''pepsi raw'' in glass bottles. if you ask me. if you are going to drink a coke or pepsi raw get it from a frosty glass bottle.

I just thought I would share this experience. Friday I wore my SL jacket to work, and while I was in the steel room I ran my left elbow into a piece of of square tube that had a razor sharp burr on the end. When I got home I found the damage; a series of six slices that penetrated halfway through the leather. Had I been wearing any other jacket with thinner leather I'm sure I'd have had a nice laceration in my arm, and possibly stitches. I was able to lay the slices down with leather glue and I can't tell that anything ever happened. So, I'm very happy with the robust quaility of this jacket!

After that, I rubbed it down with Lexol. I think this leather likes it better than Pecards dressing.

So what you saying is, don't stand in front of any trains or anyone weilding a sword, hmmmmm.

I used lexol on mine and man it loved it, my mistake is now when I play w/water to try and mold the collar (ya, I'm still playin) the lexol kinda in hibits it.

Any way you look at once you've spelled things out for me, this is one tough jacket that'll be with me for years to come. :)

I just wanted to post something about the awesome experience I've had dealing with US Wings whilst getting my SL Legend US made......This is in no way meant as sycophantic post just because I'm really pleased with my jacket....The jackets' quality speaks for themselves.....This is regarding the absolutely top notch quality of service I received in dealing with US Wings.... :D :D

From the beginning, all my insecurities about the jacket size, release date, the discount etc, all manifested themselves into the form of a relentless flurry of almost daily emails.....and I was indulged.....Not one email was ignored...most were answered by the man himself Sarge....as massive a company as US Wings is, he still deemed my emails worthy of answering personally and if he didn’t know the answer, he found out and then got back to me sometimes within hours...

So, from my point of view....top class customer service from US Wings!!
