Out in the woods today. Hiking in some rain, but nothing that warranted a "wet hat" pic.

My personality? Confused
Sorry the photos are sideways when viewed with a computer. I did them on my iPad and it works; I just viewed this thread on my desktop and they are sideways and as always I have no idea why?

Had some incredible feedback from the community following a recent photoshoot, prompting enquiries as to the source of my hat.
It's the Explorador 36 SOC.....love this hat!

Sweet. Now you should list the rest of the gear and source the maker.

Amazing looking fedora, Wilby.
Did you shape it over time or have it reblocked? Most of the other photos of the '36 don't show the hat looking as boxy. And I love me some boxy.

http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h304/ ... 2b1ee4.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I reached in thru a huge gaping rip in the side. My whole hand fit thru and I felt the hat completely flattened to one side crown and brim smushed sideways! Feeling kinda defeated as this was the second time the post office has done this to my Steele & Jones delivery, I went home without opening it. We have had severe rain in the area for the last few days and so I didnt want to open it and risk getting it all wet.
I wanted to make opening it an event with pics and all but I eventually couldn`t wait!
WOW! To be honest, I was half expecting it be like my first Steele & Jones except with dusting added but this thing is a totally different creature all together!
The color, the shape, the distressing and most of all the sizing are so amazingly perfect. I was never a big " Gotta have the name brand Herbert Johnson label" kinda guy. We have so many Penmans and ABs and Garrisons and the likes that can and have surpassed what Herbert Johnson once was so I couldn`t care less about the label. But this detailed replica makes me wonder what I may have been missing especially if I aquired one similiar to Whipwarriors version.
I know this is not a true Herbert Johnson but Steele & Jones version of what once was but this thing rules! But I feel the true magic of the hat comes from the building process that Diego and company put it thru. The crown shape is extremely accurate in every angle...even those small nuances missing from some hats out there claiming to be Streets of Cairo versions. The color of the ribbon vs felt is accurately matched and the dusting is straight off the screen.
I could not be more happy with this hat purchase. I will give it a proper review and detailed photo shoot as soon as the sky clears up and gives me some sun. The details must be seen to be believed!

Here is my photo album to the recieving and opening of the package. Keep in mind I have not swooped the brim yet but I like this look so much that I may order another hat without the dusting and wear it as such.

Yeah...some just can't read...
That's why, a couple of years ago, we've changed our shipping boxes to a much more robust style.
Very strong. No more smashed boxes.

The last time I saw a box that bad was when we were getting boxes from HatsDirect right after 9/11.
They cut back on the number of planes being allowed in the U. S. from overseas, but they kept piling on the same amount of shipments into fewer cargo holds.
Needless to say, smaller boxes got smashed under larger ones, with that result landing on many a doorstep.
Regards! Michaelson

Looks like they really got the right size/shape for your head.
My head shape is similar and its easy to have the brim look too big.

I think US customs wanted to keep it, but after nearly a month in their hands, they released my HJ replica Explorador 36 SC style and I LOVE it. It really comes to life when it is put on with the turn action. This is literally right out of the box (and still has some box dust on it). but I want to share a few shots before I add Fullers...(note: indoor lighting at night, color may not be accurate in these images)
I am totally in LOVE with Roberto's work
You who have dusted your own hat...do you wet it in areas like around the ribbon, first?
Any special tips you care to share? I'm thinking using a soft make up brush and just hitting around the ribbon and key spots then using a hat brush or just smacking it a few times to settle it.
