Yep, really busy.

Ok, Here is what Harrison is getting for his personal hat. I just wish that I had a telephoto lense so I could shoot from a distance. You get a better idea of the actual look of the hat that way. But here she is. More pics to follow on the interior, so we will have documentation of exactly what he received, and also if I get the contract, what the film hat actually looked like, originally. Looking good - but the double bow isn't as pronounced as the film hat from my memory. Maybe it's just the angle of the shots but it doesn't look right IMHO.

Depends on the scene, and if the bow was accented with dust. IMO. The bow on the hat before he enters the temple is less pronounced to my eye.

I just go this in from my contact.

Also, they are going into Rotation on IJ4 (meaning they are in the midst
of going from preproduction to actual first stage production. so there
will be little media news on IJ4 form her on out I suspect.

Fedora, that hat is a work of art. I think it should be placed in a glass case and put in some kind of "Indy Exibit" at a museum or something.

For your sake I hope Ford appreciates all the work you put into it just to get it perfect for him.

I do hope we all get to see photo's of Ford in the hat. I'm curious to see what it will look like on his head after all these years.

Are you going to have those 12 hats out in time??

Well, I'm sure this little rotation isn't going to happen over night, but I know you've got other orders to do too.

How do you plan to ship the 12 hats?? Separate boxes or 2 hats at a time, or one big box with hats stacked, or what?

How are you sending Mr. Ford his fedora? Overnight, shipping via helecopter to the set? Lots of stiffener to make sure it looks the same when he gets it?

So before Fedora got all caught up in the Ford hat and the Indiana Jones movie stuff how long was the wait from the time you ordered the hat to the time you recieved it?

I'm just trying to gauge what type of a waiting time I'm looking at when or IF I ever get the chance to order one.

It seems to me that there are quite a large number of people ordering the AB recently.

The AB is becoming the "Wested" of the Hat section. There are more and more threads poping up with people showing off their hats.

Oh, and I'm going to take a guess that there will be requests now for people specifically asking for the "Harrison Bash" on their hat.

Ok, to finalize my part in this thread, the hats are winging their way westward. Now, time to get back on hats for other folks.

The dimensions and specs on these hats were:

Open crown height, 5 1/2 inches

Brim width, 2 7/8 by 2 3/4

Stiffener added to both crown and brim

All hats turned 1/2 inch, band blocks inserted and the stiffer brims steamed to put the Raider brim warp in so it stays that way, even when not on a head.

HF stamped onto the sweats

And that is about it. The next batch to go out there will be my unstiffened Raiders fedora. As I was told, they can add stiffener as needed.

Now, if I get news that I can post publically, I will do so. But, I gotta feeling I may not be able share as much later on. I can keep the trap shut when asked, and will do so. Regards, Fedora

Well, now I know what to order when I get mine.

If things get really quite on your end Fedora I think everyone will understand and respect you enough not to hassle you with anymore questions regarding your deal or anything of that nature. None of us here want to blow this for you but I'm sure I speak for a lot of us when I say we are all just beside ourselves knowing somone that might actually be involved in a film we've been waiting years for.

Don't read too much into that. Work is going on as we speak, behind the scenes, through the backdoor, directly to the folks that matter. I was just saying, that if and when, I get the contract to do the hats, I will send quite a number out west, and they will be with no added stiffener.

Here is some of what I just heard a couple of days ago.

Also,
they ran into a snag in pre-scene set up in SA in getting clearances for
actual shooting when that occurs so they are working on that end through
logistic folks. Nesbitt said they are about ready for lockdown (no media
releases, press statements) from here on so my suspicion was correct.

Not much there, but I found it interesting. Robert, (the contact) told me this afternoon he had some good news, but to stay tuned until he was certain. Now, who knows what he meant by that. I must admit that I did have to email photos of the hat since I had no hat, at that time in the hands of those who matter. So, I sent them on in lieu of the actual hat. Sounds like someone there is in a bit of a hurry. Thats all folks. Fedora

If I was going to put money down I would say South America.

From just what Fedora has posted in this thread alone we've learned that at least costume wise they want to go back to the begining. So maybe this isn't just because they liked the original style. Maybe it's a hint that things will come full circle in this new film. Indy=South America=Gold Idol? I know the Idol has been delt with before in the books but not on the big screen. Maybe this has something to do with the opening adventure.

I know I don't post much anymore but this I cannot pass up. This is all very exciting and I hope you get the contract. Ever since you started making these lids I knew you had mastered the Raiders fedora beyond anything I could have imagined. Through the years I have tried so many Indy lids. However, yours is by far the greatest ever made, other than the original, lol. You have made a true master work with the lid for Harrison. It is by far perfect. I am wearing my AB right now as I type away. I am so proud to wear this fine hat because I have finally found The Raiders Fedora. I know Ford will love the hat you made for him. It will be a treasure to him and I know he will appreciate it more than we can ever know. Indy is his baby really that's why he wants to go on doing it. I have hoped for a long time that something like this would happen for you and your lids. There is no other hat Ford should wear in the next picture other than yours.

Yeah, I saw some of those cuts first hand over the years. And Darthjones mentioned how when he saw the original Raider's fedora on display, that the brim was buggered up. Really, to be accurate you should just eye how much you want to take off and then just start cutting. If you leave little bumps at the transition, all the better I guess. My own hats are like this as I do not take the trouble to mark the brim off, I just cut. Personally, I do not care how smooth the transition is, as long as it is not too noticable. With that said, I cannot see a real rough cut on the films hats, at least not something that would jump out at ya. Perhaps the film is kind to things of this nature.

On the dimensional cuts, I think Marc does the smoothest one I have seen, that was done by hand. At least the hat he sent over here sure had a real pretty cut. But, his may be like my own. Some are better, or smoother than others. The one that I sent to Harrison was great, but this was partly due to the stiff brim. A stiff brim, is easier to get a smooth cut on, than a floppy brim, in my experience anyways. Fedora
