Well, at least the word is getting out and beyond this community. You've built a good business, John, and made alot of people happy with these custom lids!

But there is more work to do as the adventures continue....

This isn't the post I was referring to above (that's gonna take a few days!), but I thought you might like this very different type of "post 'em up"!

This is my granite Raiders that John finished for me last year. I shot this video about 3 months ago

Enjoy!

Hey, guys,

Sorry for being so "post-happy" lately, but another member was inquiring about the turn, and he's about to make an order with John, so I took these pics for him. Also, since I recently got married, I've been away from the forum for awhile, and so I guess I'm sorta making up for lost time.

Anyway, here are a few shots of the Raiders hat John finished for me in May. I just took these about an hour ago.

Enjoy!

Oh yeah, and I can't believe I forgot about these!

Here's John and I from my trip back in August!

Image

And one from my visit to David Morgan. (I didn't wear my hat inside, so while I do have a pic with David, in it, I'm wearing a hat I bought there inside his shop!)

Image

Okay, that's ALL until I get my NEW hat!

Again, sorry for all the posts.

Thanks, Ian.

It's just that sometimes I feel like a page hog. Oh well. :P :P :P

At this moment, I have a three Penmans (the fourth being the hat I'm expecting this week-perhaps tomorrow!).

First: Granite Raiders Seaplane
Second: LC
Third: Raiders
Fourth: ???

All my Penmans are made from beaver.

After I get this fourth, I'll do a group shot of all my Penmans together!

Page hog? Nah!! I love seeing your enthusiasm for this hobby, although I guess lids are a necessity of life and not just an Indiana Jones fixation, I mean, we wear them every day :D

It's no secret that I'm a BIG FAN of Indy Fans wearing whatever assortment or combination of their Gear that suits their needs/moods/fancy AND POSTING photos of their stuff in order to either illustrate a point, share knowledge or advice with other Members or even just to SHOW OFF their latest and greates acquisition!
:P
As far as I'm concerned, I could look at photos of your Gear every day of the week (NOT something I'm accustomed to telling a fella, by the way!)

Seriously though, when you want to share some shots (and you HAVE 'em to share) please know that you've got a enthusiatic audience waiting to see 'em (and I should know... I'm a member!)

Hmmm, looks exactly like a hat to me... :-k Maybe one of those shape-shifting beavers we're all hearing about these days...

Aquatic rodent or not, it looks great as a hat.

It's great to see these side by side being worn rather than on a table top or something. That LC hat looks very accurate to me. The Raider goes without saying.. :)

WOW
I have to say, I'm quite securely in the school of thought that there is only ONE guy from whom to purchase a Last Crusade Fedora... and that's John.
:TOH:

Y'know, once upon a time I wasn't even THAT interested in owning much LC Gear (from any Vendor)... just wasn't a style that was on my priority list...
I was a Purely Raiders Guy all the way.
:whip:
Then, Tundrarider's Tony Nowak LC (#50) Jacket made it's debut and I began my slow conversion to thinking "Well, I guess I could own just a couple of Last Crusade pieces..."
;)

Now, on top of that, John brings his Penman LC to - IMO - new heights in accuracy and style. This offering from John is now SO nice that it has actually swung me around to loving AND planning to order this hat (as soon as I have this "one more" big jacket quest put to bed)...

But once I've got that cleared away, it's become clear to me now that a Last Crusade Fedora (specifically a PENMAN Last Crusade Fedora) is quickly moving to the TOP of my "shopping list")

DRUM ROLL, PLEASE ...........................................................................................................!

And here it is! My newest Penman!

I loved my Brown Raiders in beaver so much that I simply asked John to replicate it in Charcoal!

And he did an OUTSTANDING job! (I never doubted for a moment that he wouldn't!)

Image

Image

Image

I call this one,

"The Adventurer and The Gentleman"

Image

Just like with a brown Indy hat (or any hat for that matter) it's interesting to see how many different colors the charcoal can take on with different lighting. In the first pic, it looks rather blue, in the second very gray, in a couple of the pics in the collage, it takes on a little brown.

Anyway . . .

I could go on and on about what a brilliant hatter and good friend and fine craftsman and great artist John is, or how he excels at customer satisfaction and making sure that all the elements that come with a difficult order are just right. But I won't. I'll simply let the hat(s) speak for themselves.

Once again, so very pleased,

Daren Henry Wilkerson :TOH:

It's strange how the colour difference completely changes the look of the hat. It totaly works! :)

Can't tell, but is there a turn in the charcoal?

You have a very handsome hat there DarenHenry! The color looks terrific and gives the hat a very classy appearance. This really entices me to order one from John just like it. I recently received my, "PERFECT," rabbit raiders from John and have a Cairo on order, not for me though, it is for my younger brother who is a fan of that particular style. Now, I feel really tempted to submit another order for this one to compliment my brown Raiders. Decisions, decisions. Anyways, congratulations on receiving such a great looking fedora and outstanding job John, once again. :notworthy:
