Here is a quick shot of how my collar sits when I fold it over. It has a natural curl now after lots of folding. To get the curl right you have to have a damp collar. for starters NOT wet. Then put it on and lift the sweater by grabbing the shoulder seam by the neck (like you pull the sweater over your head) And then force the fold in.

I will try that, thanks.
As far as shorter, he wasn’t very helpful in trying to find one shorter.
Just measured and from and the seam, it measures 25-1/2” so it’s not bad, the truck jacket makes it look long.
Next pictures will be with the Wested.

Nice. 25.5 is a pretty good length. They normally are at 29 or even 30 inch.

Mine is 26'' and Im 6'2'' so its perfect.

Looking forward seeing your updated one! :TOH:

Slowly upgrading my MotB cosplay.
And I think I scored what I think is going to be my best scarf yet. It has the right sandy brown tan color.

I dont think the scarf is taupe as I previous thought. I have two taupe scarfs and they are just too grey. Maby I just got the wrong taupe color. who knows..

Anyways, we will see what it looks like in person when I get it.

The length which is 54'' long. Which is correct in my opinion.

Back on track for another cardigan. And with this one, I think I found the correct color. Only thing, it's on the longer side. 29'' backlength on the XL.

Now my Last crusade jacke tis 27'' so there wil be a 2'' visible hem. But Im thinking, change the buttons and it might be a solid sweater.

Details are decent. cable knit like the original, 5 buttons with a wide button panel and a 3 piece collar like the original. Only no horizontal ribbs. Ah well..

Looks good, is this your vintage or a new mfg.
I do like it.
Waiting on my Vaboom.

Question oh sage one of the MotB. :notworthy:
On Indy cardigan, top button looks to hbe unbuttoned, is this correct.

No, its not my sweater. It was a random search and thought it looked decent.

And yes the top button is unbuttoned but its the collar button. Not on the button panel itself.

Anyway, here is another search. Its pretty interesting to me. It has the correct collar ribbs and cableknit. From the looks of it, the color is slightly darker. Or so it seems from the add.

But when I look at the behind the scenes photos it matches pretty close I think.

Its something located here in my part of the world. I may go down there and see it in person. Im slightly on the fence about it.

Byt anyway, right now, Im doing a strictly color search and I think this matches the color perfectly and has a large wide shawl collar.

Now, it does not score high in details, no ribs no nothing but the color... Very nice! Im getting it!

To answer my own question, it's a circa 1948-1953 GMC that was referred to as the "New Design"; it has to be no later than 1953 because in 1954, they switched from a two-piece windshield to a single piece of glass.

I guess one thought I have, in MotB, it looks like an old truck, paint peeling, etc., but in reality, it could have only been a year or two old, being set in 1950.

They do that all the time. :?

Drives me crazy when they do a scene set in, say, the turn of the 20th century, and folks are reading books or newspapers that look like they’re 100 years old rather than current issues. ](*,)

Granted, that truck should look dirty, but not 50 years old!

It’s like Belloq’s comment about a $10 watch. In 1936 $10 would have been a lot of money. But it “rings true” to a modern audience.

A brand new 1950s truck would probably looked out of place to a 1990’s audience.

Indiana Jeff

I’m with you there. I tend to notice modern license plates in period pieces. For a while NY had garish orange license plates and I was watching a TV show that was set in the 80s and the cars were of that vintage, but all of the plates were orange.

Indiana Jeff

….and don’t get me started on period guns!

I was watching an old film about the Seminole War, and all the army personnel were carrying Winchester repeaters and 1873 Colt Peacemakers! ](*,)

We DID have a sharp cold snap yesterday. Luckily, I didn’t have to keep it on inside long, the HR gal popped by right after lunch….

It’s an LL Bean…. I still have some quibbles with the exact shade, and the ribbing of the button placket isn’t horizontal, so I’m always looking for an “improvement”, but it’ll do for most folks….

For YEARS I was laboring under the misapprehension that the sweater Indy wears was a US GI 5 Button Sweater.

Which makes sense, as a vet of WWII, but the cardigan looks nice too.

Being colorblind probably didn't help either.

In that vein, the Colt Trooper Indy takes from a baddie won't come out for another 2-3 years.

Mine doesn't have a tag it's so non-descript.
But good chance it was, as I will up-date to one as close to Holts soon. No rush as I typically wear something different this time of year.

And thank you Holt, you are my inspiration. I wear the Cardigan every day this time of year, nice comfy.
And you can keep you 4 feet of snow right wear it is.

I forgot to mention the gloves.
There from mr_alex, if you go to Cresent Moon Emporium, there 20 down, he may still have some, one of these I need to see, another pair for back up.

I just ordered mine yesterday. LLBean has a 10% coupon which brings it down to $98 here in the US.

Promo Code: W120Z6MPY1

I’m hoping the size works the way I’ve been told.

Now, where are we sourcing the buttons from?
(And I suppose now I HAVE to get a black tie too…)

I was planning on ordering mine tomorrow in hopes they have a Labor Day sales.
But thanks for the coupon, will definitely try it out.

Buttons I found on Etsy for my Vaboom sweater. Type in leather buttons. I want to say that somewhere in this thread was the size.
Issue I had was how the collar doesn’t lay flat.
The L.L. Beans looks like it does.

I found the button side one page up or back.
25mm

And the promo card must be specific to your purchase if you signed up for their email.
I tried the code but it says it was redeemed already, buy thanks for trying.
I'll sign up for the emails, get my code and order it up.

Now for the buttons, and if this one fits and the collar sits right, my Vaboom will be in Ciro soon.
