I would say keep the medium , it looks perfect on you , but my ultimate advice is ... wait for Holt ultimate advice !
TMFR
TMFR, ya I am really torn between the medium and the large. The medium when I first put it on, it does feel tight around the chest and shoulders. I wear it for a few minutes and it loosens a little bit in those areas. The only way I would go with a medium is if the jacket does loosen up quite a bit over time like an inch or so. I was told by Wings I should get a large, but I never gave height and weight just what I previously ordered on another jacket. Right now leaning toward a large.
Tundrarider wrote:Hi Indiana Chris!
This is obviously a tough decision for you and I can understand why. Both jackets technically "fit" you; one has a snug fitted appearance and the other a bit more generous and comfortable looking.
I'm amazed at how a Medium and a Large can be so close of a fit and my guess is you actually would wear a size
between Med and Large if there were one. The pics are great, though and tell a lot about the fit. What they don't say (and can't say) is how the jackets feel to you and how you feel when wearing them.
If you want a trim fitting leather jacket based on the Indy design, you got it. If you want a more comfortable jacket based on an Indy jacket, you got that as well.
My opinion is the Large 100%.
It fits you like a leather jacket. The Medium fits more like a shirt.
Tony Nowak and I went back and forth over this same issue; I was trying to get him to make my jacket fit like a shirt and he wanted it to fit like a jacket. As the customer, I won and as the genius jacketmaker, he delivered. In hindsight, I should have followed the advice of the master.
So, when I was buying my newest jacket, I spent a great deal of time trying on the 44 and the 46, over and over and over...
Took pics wearing both and looked at the pics over and over. Both fit me. In fact, a 42 probably would have fit, too, but I didn't even try it as I was going for a looser fit this time. I chose wisely, but it took some time.
Sounds like your gut is telling you "Large." Having Eric (Holt) confirming this is nothing to sneeze at, either!
Once you've finished sleeping on it and have decided, then sleep
in it! Wear it to bed as often as you can. Push the sleeves up to your elbows before falling asleep. Soon, it will feel more comfortable and as natural as pajamas. Wear it, wear it, wear it! Hold off on the water treatment. This can always be done later, if you still feel it's necessary, but conversely it can't be undone. So waiting on this until you are sure is prudent.
Though the sleeves might feel a bit long now, they haven't yet wrinkled and when they do wrinkle and "accordion," you will be thankful for the extra length!
Congratulations! It was a wise decision to hold onto the Medium so you could compare!
Michael
Tundrarider,
I think you have pretty much summed my jackets just by looking at them, that is incredible
I feel like the medium jacket is like a sweatshirt really, I cannot wear a swearshirt underneath it, it is very much like a t-shirt. The large is much more comfortable has more room to breathe. Even though I have been told it looks like I am swimming in the large, it does fit, it just fits very comfortably. I am looking for more of a looser fit, I am not wanting a jacket that is going to kind of restrict arm movement, which I feel like the medium does. One thing that I keep on doing is putting on my U.S. Wings Hero jacket, it is in a medium and fits me perfectly. I keep on putting on the medium and large straited lamb jackets and the large feels like my medium U.S. Wings Hero jacket in every respect as far as fitting goes.
Don't worry about me, I never try the washer treatment, and if I do it will be further down the road if I want. I will try to sleep in it, it is a very comfortable jacket, I know that definately helps wear it in. Thanks for your help and really appreciate your guys advise.
I am sticking with the large, I will call U.S. Wings in the morning about how to go about the process of a return. I would love to keep both, I just feel like the large is best for me. It feels much like my U.S. Wings Hero jacket and it feels more like a jacket than the medium does.

Oh My God, this is awsome.
As I emailed Sgt. first, are we sure this is Lamb? the feel is so like cow leather, I couldn't be happier, the stiration that are their are beautiful, pic's wont do them justice. But I'll try.
The fist few shot will be post in my next post which I'll try and do right now.
Beautiful.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh shucks, ya think so.
Thanks Michael, appreatiate the compliments, first thing I gotta work on it the wonky left side collar, likes to stand out so to speak.
I'll keep workin it, and tonight I'll very lightly moisten it and then put a rubber band arond it, worked wonders on my Todds.
And thank you Mr. Indyzane as well.

I love seeing how great this new pattern is fitting on you guys. This is proof that the Signature Series jackets were over-sized. I'm not saying that an Indy jacket should be tight, but definitely trim with a little room for movement. This pattern on the Legend jackets is a fantastic cut.

Well another day, another chance to wear my jacket inside.
Any way while it hung on the hanger, before I hit the sack last night I spritzed it with denatured water, man even that caused the stiration to lift, beautiful.
Here's a pic after it hung all night w/a damp warm towel wrapped around the collar along w/a rubber band.
I'll never throw it into the ol washing machine, but the occasional spritz does the trick.
Hey Holt, when you rubbed it down to it also soften her up?, I don't have any Lexol but I do have some Letap.
And last but not least (I had to be the first
)
NO ONE BETTER MESS WITH MY US-WINGS.

Thought I read some where that it was the prefered.
And Holt just saw those pic's you posted in the other thread and she's a beaut.

No problem what so ever using Lexol on lambskin.
As a matter of fact, it WAS the preferred product when they stopped the shipment of Letap's from England after 9-11.
The next closest thing would be Pecards Motorcycle Leather Lotion, in my opinion.
Anyway, Lexol is GREAT stuff for any tight pored hides like lambskin.

Yeah,
told me that if you applied too much pecards the surface of the jacket could become tacky (talking about texture, not personal taste here...
). He suggested Lexol, and after applying some, I agree. The lamb has really relaxed, and is absolutely gorgeous!!! I need to get some pics up...maybe this weekend.

Hey Ian, ya I ended up keeping the large and the medium is on its way back. It is interesting that both jackets did fit technically. The medium just was not for me, even though the sleeve length was dead on. So it is time to break the large in. Hopefully it does not snow too much more as I really don't want to transfer salt to my jacket, but I may just wear in indoors just to get it nice and worn in.
Croft, those pictures in your jacket are amazing
And don't worry I won't mess with your U.S. Wings with that last picture, which is an awesome photo by the way. Your medium looks pretty roomy, my large I felt had more room than my medium, so that is why I went with the large. Glad you got your jacket, looks like another winner, I just really enjoy these jackets. I hope to see some more of these in the next couple of months.

I tried some Pecards on a small concealed area on my jacket and found that the Pecards won't be absorbed by the leather...That just stayed tacky...I had to wipe it off and use a liquid leather conditioner. That was soaked right up....Made the leather nice and supple and brought out more of the grain...
IndianaChris711 : I know people like to see a nice broken in jacket, but I just don't see what the rush is....I'm just wearing mine when I need / want to...It'll brake in in it's own good time....

Yep, and for the reasons I gave Travis above. The pores of lambskin are just to 'tight' to absorb regular Pecards. To much beeswax. Regards! Michaelson

Aye, I saw that, but when I read it I interpreted it as
TOO much Pecards will not be absorbed......So I thought a light coat would be fine.........Alas not....I ended up with a greasy jacket, but totally waterproof...
Thanks for the advice.....

Take a hairdryer and apply heat to the greasy area until the Pecards liquifies, then wipe it off with a clean cotton rag or old tee shirt. That will eliminate the excess from the surface.

I've a question/concern about my US Wings US made jacket, now I've worn it as much as I can, but it just feels so heavey, does anyone else share this concern?, I mean I have a Wested goat and a Todds lamb, abd there so much lighter, this wings jacket feels more like a late fall/winter jacket. Or am I just worrying about nothing, I'm happy with it, but maybe not as much as when I first got it. In my mind I keep expecting it to be more like my other two jackets. I've asked this next question in another thread, and it was sorta brushed by, is the imported the same leather or a thinner SL. Thinking of either selling it, just not sure.

the SL is actually not lamb but a sheepskin and it's sourced from france. it's WAY thicker then lambskin. lamb is baby sheep sliced and diced into a jacket. sheep is a grown up lamb. so yes it will be ticker and fatter and WAY heavier. I think the imports are sourced from the same source.

Thanks Holt, I belive your correct in the assumption of it being the same leather fr the import & US made, guess I was just hoping it would have been lighter.
So am I just nuts then, who makes a lighter SL.

Riley if you wanna spend a grand on it...
I mean, if I ever was to get a jacket worth a grand it would NEVER be in lambskin. it would be something tough and that would outlast me. goatskin probably.

My friend. you have to keep in mind is that you only have been wearing your jacket, what? 4 days now? if even that? these jackets really need some break in time..months and months. once broken in it will be alot softer and more comfy and easy to wear. I think the weight will be the same tho. I know I love mine. heavy or not. I actually love the weight. It is my new late season jacket. It keeps me really warm.

You even posted on my thread in which I made the point over and over again that this was a heavy jacket, and I compared it to Todd's and Wested specifically. I don't know how you could have read all that and expected it to be remotely like those jackets in terms of weight. I'm sorry, but...
