I think I am about 90 or so posts late on this, but.....
is this (see below link) still sent out with each order from Wested if a Raiders jacket is ordered? If so, why? And, am I correctly assuming that this link will be removed from the jacket section once The Hulk, I mean _, inserts the new jacket history info on the webpage?

For Raiders (and LC) the gist of it is, this is still true.junior wrote:I think I am about 90 or so posts late on this, but.....

Just spoke with Tony... & First Post w/ WESTED Questions
Just spoke to Tony; he's pretty proud seeing his jackets (as he made Mutt's jacket too...) on the cover of the recent Vanity Fair. After briefly chatting about the jackets, he did confirm he would be taking orders as soon as the premiere hits us in May. He mentioned he has put my name on a list of some sort, and that I should contact him again closer to 'Skull day' to provide my size and payment. Just wanted to share the news...
On a side note, this is my first post on COW and I would like say - "Thank you" to all of you. Not only has this site provided me with answers to many of my Gear related questions, you guys have made me feel in good company... it's obvious we all have childhood issues and the same desire to collect and wear the clothes of adventure - so glad I'm not alone! =)
My Wested Leather Raiders jacket is about 6 years old, undone it looks great... but when I do it up, it's pretty tight in the chest and doesn't look right... I need a bit more chest room, I've read a bit about the water soak and stretch technique, but have only found a couple vague posts about it all over COW... is there a FAQ or anything on how to do this?
Also, is there a proper SA method to threading the side straps through the D rings?
I will be sending pictures soon...
Happy New Year Gear-heads,
Shawn.

Welcome Shawn, Did Tony mention anything about the eventual price of the jacket?KrYpToNiAn1 wrote: He mentioned he has put my name on a list of some sort, and that I should contact him again closer to 'Skull day' to provide my size and payment. Just wanted to share the news...
Shawn.
I'm still hoping they will be able to produce them in some standard-sizes to lower the cost for us fans...
Cheers

There's been no announcement of a 'production run' that I'm aware of.
If you re-read the post, he's planning on taking orders in May after the film premieres, which we knew, so he's probably talking about his usual custom work.
In October, _ posted this, which is the same thing that was posted yesterday:

Until the film is released in May 2008, no jackets will be available for sale. I am working on a pricing analysis with Tony Nowak, but as of the date of this posting no pricing guidelines have been established. Based on the other offerings from Tony, I would expect that this jacket would be priced as a premium piece of gear. I would be willing to stake my reputation on the fact that anyone who has the opportunity to own one of these will consider it a prized possession.

Thanks for the clarification!
It was just odd the thread starts out with people talking about something that there is no mention before it in the thread. It's like it got snipped out of another thread maybe?
Obviously referring to something that's not before it in the thread. (I haven't read through all 5 pages though)

You have a point, but I've been wondering about the exact same thing as Doc for a while now.Michaelson wrote: YOU know how disjointed our thinking is around here most days!

But does the "welcome Tony" mean that Tony now has a profile here in COW? Or does the "welcome" just state a "welcome to the mad world of Indy-gear"?
Just curious...
Cheers

To bring folks back to speed, there was the original announcement/post congratulating Tony for being the official maker of the jacket. Folks welcomed him to the franchise, but it was determined after a time that it might be best to tone things down for a bit, since he's not going to MAKE any customer jackets until the film premieres and the logistics of exactly what he's going to do are not firmed up, so that post was removed.
The remaining posts still discussed the jacket, and those posts really didn't NEED the presence of the original post, so they were left where they are. Since it's up to 5 pages, no one has had time to clear it out, so things were left as is.
This happened quite a while ago. You mean you just now noticed it?
Does it make sense now?

Sorry to be so long coming back about this.
The point of this picture is to show the difference between the much modified TN Skulls jacket as shown in the smaller picture and the Wested Skulls prototype in the main picture.
The much modified collar is of course the main difference although I cannot see it? What else?
Admittedly the zip on the TN Skull jacket is about 3" from the bottom of the jacket but the skin is almost identical, a soft slightly distressed hide called 'Novapelle' which apart form its Italian sound comes from S.America.
I have been custom making this Skulls modified LC jacket for my more priveledged clientell and shall continue to do so.
Shall I raise the price by $500 to make a fast buck, maybe maybe not.
This is not a serious post just that I find this hype about reconstructuring and a $800-$900 price tag hard to beleive.
Keep the faith folks and lets hope its a great film.
Cheers
Peter

Re: Just spoke with Tony... & First Post w/ WESTED Quest
I checked his site out and saw no links or notices at all about indy, do people recommend getting on this 'list'? Any ideas what $ range we may be in?KrYpToNiAn1 wrote:Just spoke to Tony; he's pretty proud seeing his jackets (as he made Mutt's jacket too...) on the cover of the recent Vanity Fair. Honestly, didn't even pay attention to that. I'm sure if one is looking for it you're probably right. I'm just glad I got swept up by the excitement and overlooked that.sebas wrote:If there was any doubt as to how the "moving" jacket would look on screen...well, it looks painfully mediocre...
Any thoughts?

Most real leather jackets do. "Sorry, can't go adventuring today my jacket doesn't flap right"sebas wrote:If there was any doubt as to how the "moving" jacket would look on screen...well, it looks painfully mediocre... That puffy cowhide looks almost CG to me. They aced the hat at least (thank you Steve and Marc!).
Any thoughts?

Just to keep the discussion rolling, this screen capture shows that the side straps are attached to the outside of the back panel, as on the previous LC jackets. And if my eyes do not deceive, they appear to have x-in-the-box stitching as well.

There's way to much motion in that shot to discern if there's x-box stitching or not. It's fairly hard to tell where's it's attached also. However we don't even have to go over any of that as we know who made them and that they'll be selling them at some point. I'm sure they haven't lost the specs on it yet.

A little birdie tells me there is no xbox stitching. In fact, this little birdie says there is no "box" at all... or at least not the kind you're thinking ofwhipwarrior wrote:Just to keep the discussion rolling, this screen capture shows that the side straps are attached to the outside of the back panel, as on the previous LC jackets. There is an amazingly sharp shot in the trailer. Just as indy picks up the gold mask.Castor Dioscuri wrote:A little birdie tells me there is no xbox stitching.
