People come and go. It could be that the guy just kind of lost touch with the site and is living a peaceful life somewhere.

I guess I could understand wanting Kevlar when your doing that kind of work, but still....

I find it odd that someone else who isn't in harms way on a regular basis would request such a thing unless they were planning on looking for trouble.

PETER wrote:I was actually refering to the the inside pocket which on the LC was made bigger and with leather surround to hold the diary, but I also take on board the larger LC cargo pockets which we have been putting on all jackets as standard for some years as folks complained that on the original Raiders pocket the hand warmer part were too small for the hands.
If I'm not mistaken, are these hand warmers slits on the sides of the cargo pockets?

If so, would it be possible to increase the opening for the hand warmers, without increasing the net length of the pockets - the best way to describe it is a "D" shape, where the straight part is the back side of the pocket that attaches to the jacket, and the curved part the outer part of the pocket, which allows more space for big hands, but does not create a visually longer pocket.

Another reason why I bring this up is that in the film, the cargo pockets appear to have depth, as if the pockets had more fabric, while the pockets on replication jackets, as pictured here on the forums, lie flat against the jacket.

So this could perhaps address the practical as well as screen-accurate aspects of the pockets.

Peter is great for chiming in and working with us regarding the pockets and what-not. I wonder if it would be possible to get nickel zippers and black rectangular loops in the near future? It seems to me enough people want them.

Peter is currently in Greece, and will be off line for a bit.

I don't know anything about the zippers but last time I asked he was having trouble getting the correct sized black sliders from his wholesalers. If anyone can find 100% correct matt black sliders I'm sure he'd be interested in some contact details. Or you could just send him a couple of gross ;).

Yes, but he still has yet to chime in to the jacket collar thread I posted several weeks ago and it even has his name in the title of the thread. I can't see how he could miss it. Probably ticked at me for posting that 'ultimate jacket' thread and all the grief it's apparently caused him.

Anyways, you are right about the hardware and if Peter has plans to make two different versions of the Raiders jacket as standard, I'd think these pieces of hardware are necessities, not just dressing for the jacket. I certainly hope he will source the zippers soon as I know you've already sourced the correct rectangular flat-black side strap buckles.

Well this is great news :D

Peter - thank you for being so accomadating

But I think credit goes to Agent 5 as well. By having the character to state his case for the accurising the Wested jacket to match the screen used Raiders jacket, we are hopefully going to see a re-emergence of a true Raiders jacket again from Wested \:D/ If Agent 5 hadn't stood up & been counted on this, I doubt we'd be in this fantastic position 8)

So if I understand right, for a Wested Raiders jacket, it should be:

1) 80's fit - so that the back shoulder yoke is smaller & the waist is more trim

2) Smaller Raiders cargo (outer) pockets - although this will result in smaller, possibly non-functional handwarmer pockets (Hey! I have small hands. I don't care!)

3) Slit pocket inside the jacket - less leather

4) Zip to the bottom of the seam - although this may cause the zip stress & result in it separating at the bottom

So Peter, would these with the loss of the zip leather facings make this a standard jacket or a custom?
I agree with the custom pricing being higher, but from what I'm reading in your posts, the patterns for the Raiders features already exsist, it's just a case of people specifying them, or them being re-introduced as standard for the Raiders jacket.

IMHO this is where the problem has come from. The situation has gone full circle. Currently people want their Raiders jackets as seen on screen again, but the Wested jackets have morphed over time to design out features that were not functional, which are the features people want back. If these features are standard on the Wested Raiders again, then I think that the custom orders may not continue to exsist...?! :?

But YES! I certainly will be beat a path back to Wested for an ultimate Raiders jacket with these features regardless of price

Hi Skippy,

I know you are pumped about the possibility getting a more screen-like Raiders. and I respect your enthusiasm.

However, I have to counter that I personally DO NOT want a jacket with THE LOOK at the expense of comfort or durability.

I tried on a jacket with a higher yoke and it was tight across the shoulders and not at all comfortable to wear, it was a full size larger than the "standard yoke" one I finally bought.

1) 80's fit. Ok, as an option, although it will not suit most body types. Don't expect it to look good if you are "apple" or "pear" shaped!

2) Smaller Pockets. Yes, totally agree.

3) Inner Pocket. Ok again as an option. I prefer the faced pocket it helps it stay closed.

4) Zipper. No. Peter says the zip goes to top of the the hem on the bottom of the jacket. If it is lower it weakens it. I don't want that. If specified, I believe it should be with the proviso they if it breaks you fix it yourself and do not report it on COW.

5) Facing on the zipper, I like it without. Though there are not many reports from people who have it that have had issues with it.

6) Smaller Pleats. I'd like smaller pleats probably with elastic so they don't stay open. The larger ones do on occasion feel a bit wing like.

Remember, many of the "morphs" are valid, hard earned design decisions, and earned by the alumni of this board for real world people and real world use. I wear mine every day, it's not a display piece.

regards,

Kt.

Yeah, mine look pretty similar to the OLD raiders pocket!
...if it breaks you fix it yourself and do not report it on COW
Certainly report on COW that it broke, but don't whine about it and don't bug Peter about it. Hearing that it broke might deter others from getting it that way.
